nothing like a wet smelly dog to remind you that you have a wet smelly dog. it is what gives memories of your dog. you can a bear come into camp. a tree fall and almost hit your tent. rains so hard it floods your tent and forget matches/lighter. but what will stand out most is when you bed down and inhale and smell your dog. it is a heaven sent.
I've never heard anyone describe the smell of wet dog as something joyful before lol.
Definitely makes an imprint in your memory! 🐕❤️

Loved hearing the birds, geese, and crows, and seeing the Eagle. The beaver dam was amamzing to see, as well as, their skill cutting trees. It was relaxing watching Ellie swim. Seeing you with that large backpack sure brought back fond memories of my world travels in the 1980s & 90s, backpacking through 35 countries and principalities.
I carried a two man tent (perfect for one dude), a thermal "sarcophagus" style sleeping bag, a small collapsible butane cooking stove and very basic cooking/eating implements.
But I didn't have a dog with me nor video, so I get to relive some of my experiences vicariously through you.
Gorgeous drone shots and I especially like the cut to your tent in nighttime at 20:30, beautifully lit from the inside.

Beautiful spot. I am a fan of pretty much anything to do with water 💦 you picked the most wonderful view of the lake/river. The sound of the wind in the trees, the Eagles flying overhead and the rippling of the water 💦...I don't think you could have picked a better spot.

I can hardly write my comments thru my happy tears, because as always this video was wonderful -however … during my morning scroll I found the video where you and Ellie found each other -match made in heaven ❤❤❤. I couldn’t stop smiling and shedding happy tears watching how she chose you to be her new dad! 🐶🐶🐶❤️❤️❤️. What a friend you had to ask you if you wanted to “adopt “ her ! Generous and kind of him to keep you together! My Henry came into my life in a similar fashion. I babysat him for a coworker a few times and she finally asked if I wanted to keep him. Even though I already had 4 other dogs , all Labrador’s, and Hen would be my first Golden Retriever, I immediately said YES! He’s the best boy and he and his younger Labrador sister Molly wrestle and play all of the time. Thank you for sharing that “love “ story of how you and Ellie became family ! 😊😊😊😊

Love the peacefulness of the rivers and hearing the wildlife and nature. I am watching Ellie swim and same please don't roll in the dirt when you get out but she always does. The tent looked really nice when you had the lights on and you could see them through the tent. A nice quiet getaway.

Those trees were huge what a beautiful area, the water must have been cold as Ellie seemed to be breathing harder, but she obviously loved it. So funny when she rolled in the mud lol. Pleased it didnt rai too hard seeing as you had those holes in your tent x

Interesting about the beavers gnawing the trees down. I am a happy armchair traveler in Australia, happy for you to be doing the camping and me the watching with my dog on my lap , by the heater.
When you was walking in you sounded like the Tin Man. But what a beautiful spot I would have had to steal another day or two. Now as far as the canned mex soup goes everything and I mean everything taste better in the woods I can’t stand beanie weaners but in the woods they taste like steak. I know retrievers are water dogs but that water has to be 30 degrees! Ellie loves the cold water, I guess, and then warming her wet, doggie fur right next to Dad under the teepee! lol

Your videos capture the beauty of Mothe Nature perfectly. Seeing you find these amazing backwoods pack-in campsites make me want to buy a tent so I can experience them first hand myself. Your tent with the woodstove looks so cozy! However, I know from my younger days that this style of camping requires a lot of work. That was a beautiful spot … especially because we got to see a few Bald Eagles, Canada Geese pair, a couple of Swans & even a duck.
You never seem to be concerned about bears at all! Surely hibernation has finished for the season … ever run into them, even if on occasion?
Hopefully you’ll be able to fix the tent … that spark arrester doesn’t seem to be working all that well, with holes like that in the tent … and the fact you’ve used the Tipi once.

Oh I totally agree with the trees….beavers are cool but they’re my arch nemeses out here. They’ve been taking out some beautiful trees by our family cabin. Such a bummer. I’ve never come across a bear here in MN - plenty out west!

Ellie is always so excited, I get excited for the adventure. Ever since I watched the movie "New in Town, i have wanted to visit Minnesota. And you show so many beautiful parks and areas of the state the tourism dept should thank you. Thats a cool tent. How many months of the year, is there ice on the water. It's so funny that Ellie swims first and then rolls in the mud. I love her❤😊😊 ❤safe travels!
