Codsworth calling Nora 'mum' is just his British dialect shining through. Think of it less like 'He's calling her mom' and more like it's a familiar but still respectful form of 'ma'am'.

specifically its "ma'am" which is a term used only for higher ranking ladies. Im pretty sure the only context you ever hear it here (the uk) is if someones talking to the queen or a police chief inspecter thats female. I think its also used as the female version of "sir"
a somewhat unknown feature is that Codworth has large voiced database of common names that he will actually call your character if you name them e.g say you called your character Bob we will call out Mr Bob when addressing you, if the name is not in the database he does his normal Sir/Ma'am line

It's not just Nate's grandfather that got them into the Vault. Nate himself is a veteran of the Resource Wars, and Nora's an attorney, so potentially a civil servant.
Ya also am I the only one that got frustrated when he was making his character with his skill points like why is the strength so high intelligence so low and all my play through have a low strength because it’s useless I just get power armor.

I just go with the classic, fuck charisma, intelligence at 10, and just fuck around with the rest depending on what build I want to play.
(Although tbf, it makes more sense to put some points into Charisma in 4 than it does in the previous games, since Fallout 4 depends on stats rather than dumping points into random perks)

1. To have weapons and items on your arrow pad saved, open the pipboy and press RB on an item you want as a favorite.
2. Im pretty sure the reason the dialogue is overlapping is because your capping at 60fps but im not 100% sure.
3. The reason you couldn't do anything with the dog at red rocket is because you had opened the favorites menu with the arrow pad. Either press O to close it or X to select an item you already had equipped. ie. The pistol.
4. SHAUN!!!!
The dialogue is playing too fast, you probably wanna get that fixed. I think it's something to do with capping your frames at 60 but I'm not sure
The NextGen update broke the game the skipping dialogue is just one of them some of the creation club items that came out with the update are missing texture files/load order failure and they just show up as big red !

This is an issue that fallout 76 had and fallout 4 has, what is going on is the game speed is tied to the frame rate so If you have a higher frame rate the game moves faster and your character runs faster and characters go through talking animations faster causing overlapping dialogue so if you want to get rid of the problem you need to lower your frame rate on your computer this is why consoles don't complain about this since we naturally have lower frame rates
@@fujicrew170all these issues are user specific and extremely random, I have yet to come across any of these issues on my vanilla ps5 playthrough I've only crashed once in 60hours, not even touching mods for another 6months to avoid increasing the chances of triggering them
To get hair, you go to face and go up to your bald ass head and get hair from there
Whiz, the face Gen is very flexible including stretching or contracting individuals facial parts but you have to just select the right tab 😊 but it isn't explained

Try some good mods like Sim Settlement 1 or 2. Or try Outcasts and Remnants with all connected other story-mods. You get a very good reason to rebuild the Commonwealth and it has nothing to do with "another settlement needs your help" Garvey :)
Im seeing alot of salty fallout fans. Pay them no mind bro. My first fallout was fallout 4 to back in 2016. Also for character creation. Im not gonna spoil it unless you dont mind it, but there's a facials reconstruction guy that you can visit to edit your characters face and hair. Was a big help to me back when i first started. My dude was busted 😂
If he just wanted the hair, he can go to that one barber with the red jacket instead
They hate because they stripped a lot of mechanics from the game
@@DanielLopez-he2fq in terms of RPG elements and options FO4 is the worse of the lot but does have much better gunplay and the power armor finally feels like it should.

Even tastier with Unofficial Patch Mod and a few mods to customize the experience.
Your game and dialogue is playing at 1,5 speed, you’re moving faster, the animations are faster and the dialogue can’t keep up. It has something to do with uncapped fps I think.

yeah, Bethesda broke the game pretty badly with the next gen "update" which only fixed 1 bug for the PC and introduced a ton new ones XD

Remember you went heavy on Strength, so check out melee weapons and the blacksmith and armorer perks, and you can be slashing and punching the shit out of everybody. Toughness perk too. Eat bullets and smash heads.

There is a Barber's chair you can place down in your settlement and assign a worker to, if you'd like to change your hairstyle later. :)

It’s your first time playing don’t be afraid to mess up just have fun and explore. Also make sure to save the game often incase something happens like the game crashing or a character becoming hostile to you, so you don’t lose a lot of progress. Good Luck and have fun dude. 👍

There was a Vault-Tec figurine you didn't take with you on the table next to Jo-Lun.
Collect them all and put them on display at home on a special cupboard.
Also...you need to search every nook and crannie and not miss everything there. You can run through the game, but then you will miss a lot and not getting half the amount of Quests you would get for thoroughly searching everything.

Codsworth has a bunch of names recorded, and if the game registers your character's name as one of the recorded ones, Codsworth will say it out loud.
The best part, they definitely threw in joke ones, like 'Fucker' and 'Fuckface', but he also throws a Mr. or Mrs. in front of it.
some have pointed out that the two main characters have different reactions to opening the pod to their spouse. Nora is still in disbelief and likely in a daze. Only a little later when speaking to Codsworth does she realize she's too focused on losing Nate, and Shaun's still out there, and needs to find him.
Nate is a war vet, and he's bottling his emotions over Nora's death because Shaun is still out there, he understands that, and stopping to grieve her death means precious seconds that could lose him the trail. He's focused on saving the part of his family he still can

If you're anything like the rest of us, you'll spend the first few minutes of the game freaking out over your son getting kidnapped, and then spend the next several hundred hours completely forgetting that you're supposed to be finding your son, lol!
I’ve started seeing more comments on how I missed out on the hair option in the character creation, I’m not using my mouse I am using controller if it wasn’t already apparent so I didn’t know to click on the facial features especially when their are buttons at the bottom that have all the options but not the hair 🤷🏿♂️
there's a barber in diamond city once you get there so you can change your hair
You gotta use your level ups my man. Go to your pip boy and open the skill tree you have 3 perks to pick. Choose wisely they will help you survive in combat. Pick things that seem like you will use them. Don't spread them out over every single weapon type at first. Read thru and see what can help with where you feel you need it. Also, use the targeting system with L1 while in combat. It'll slow time and let you isolate body parts. It uses action points but can help out a lot when shit gets crazy.
The different levels of interfaces in this game have and will always be confusing. Navigating them with a controler is even worse (even though it's been on console since release).
when you get to diamond city there is a guy posted up in the basement of the docs clinic where you can change your characters appearance

Oh and watch after my boy Preston. he gets a bad rep because he gives too many quests in the early parts of the game too quickly due to a programming error making him seem demanding. Hes one of the few genuinly good people in FO4 and has been put through the ringer trying to be the best guy he could be

Man, please play more this is EXCITING. When reading computers, you can skim through most but, there is some hidden lore, and quests that are some of the best in the game. Be on the look out at least click through everything you can in them. You will be able to revenge your wife, you can never bring her back to life sadly but, you are able to find your enemy. The vault tech guy in the start didn't know much about the bombs dropping, but he has a story himself. The remains of his story can be found in a place later in game called "Good Neighbor". The best tips I can give to you about fallout 4 without spoilers, Explore, speak to everyone you can, don't rush the main story, the further away from the Vault you get on the map, the Higher level the area. Be careful out there Survivor!
Oh, and to put away your weapon Hold the reload button.

Saying out loud what most of us thought in our heads as we played the first time, which is what makes watching youtube videos entertaining, if they just said these things in their heads it would be boring, we would just watch them silently playing, you know what I mean?
I think telling someone what comes next, spoils what choices they may make next, how they will view upcoming scenarios, etc. It's better to just let them experience the game, like we got to, instead of telling them what happens. Its great to see new people playing the game series. Its a great series and its cool that you started with 4. I recommend to play fallout new vegas and if you have friends and have down time to try 76.
Also I almost forgot. This is a Bethesda game so do expect bugs. The when pigs fly mission doesnt work on consoles besides all that. You would have a great time

Depends on how much he likes graphics and gameplay. While I played and enjoyed New Vegas (and Fallout 3), when they came out I can not go back to replay them (not without a modern rerelease anyways).

Your game may have been glitching when you were at the Red Rocket Station. You're supposed to be able to talk to the Dog. I would recommend returning to the Red Rocket next time you boot the game up again and see if you can talk to him.
