The best advice I've heard in a long time! Our world needs more pollinators thriving.. Let the butterflies thrive! 💗
Yes absolutely and thank you :)
That caterpillar is so cute and the footage you captured is marvellous. Thanks for sharing :)
Cuteness personified , I was lucky to catch it in action at the perfect angle 2 days ago and it was time to give this caterpillar some viewing time on you tube lol , the rest of the footage has been collected last year . You are most welcome :)
Thanks for not killing him may god give you all the prosperity and respect you deserve for!
We can always get more kadipatta plants from the nursery but this guy needs to live. So happy to see what you did here :)
oh my goodness! It looks like it has the shell of a turtle and the face of a guinea pig! It's soooo cute.
It's amazing your plants can survive the attacks. Nature at It's finest and thank you for sharing this.👍
Cuteness personified , the lemon plants are totally bare today lol , they will get new growth soon and the caterpillars will devour them again. I think this is the season for laying eggs, I dont see this happen through the year .You are welcome :)
I have this on my curry leaves pot. I was thinking of getting rid of it. Thanks to this video I know its not going to harm my plant.
Thank you for letting the caterpillar eat the curry leaves 💚🙇 🐛
Yes, you're right it's just trying to survive. It's a beautiful memnon butterfly! 😍😍
I have one of these caterpillars in the newly planted backyard curry plant. Though he ate all the leaves.. we have not killed him. Leaves can grow back. Waiting for him to go to pupa stage
Same bro. Life is beautiful.
Respect
An update... Butterfly and birds population have increased around our house.. as we have many flowering and fruiting plants now.. also lots of bugs.
😮.
How kind and generous you are. Thanks for sharing.
Lol very kind of you to say so , you are welcome !
Amazing. I saw caterpillars on our citrus tree today. I will let them have their hearty meal so that they turn in to beautiful butterflies. Strange are mother nature's ways. Thanks sister for sharing and sprouting the seeds of respect for nature in our hearts.
Wonderful and you are welcome 😁🦋🦋!!
Ya . Same thing is happening in my garden too. This caterpillars don't like direct sunlight also, they raise their heads if direct sunrays falls on them. I have hanged one curtain on pulley for them to protect them from direct sunlight. Very smart they are. They copy the colour and structure of the curry leaves or the colour of branch on which they are going to built their cocoon. I am also enjoying their life cycle. It's amazing
Wonderful observation , thanks so much for sharing , enjoy :)
Try rearing them in plastic containers. Give them plucked leaves (this way your plant does not get damaged entirely). They will morph into a butterfly eventually in the container, once morphed, set them free. And they wont survive on other leaves on relocation, only on plants of citrus family like aegle, curry and lime.
I have some in my garden , can you please suggest can I grow them in plastic containers
You my dear have your heart in its right place. May your garden flourish and host many of these wonderful creatires6
Thanks Sunita for the lovely comment and the wishes. I grow only those plants or flowers that I know the bees will enjoy - I grow all my basil for them , mustard , single petaled marigolds . I really enjoy in the knowledge that they have some food source in my balcony garden .

what I liked most is the conclusion part.very positive approach .
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
This warmed my heart! How beautiful ❤
So glad to know , thank you !!
My experience tells me if I leave them alone , after sometimes , the plants reflourish back and become even more blossom because of the wastes left over by the caterpillars ! You are so kind as to not killing the caterpillars , I share the same philosophy as you do !
I enjoyed your video so much that I posted it on my FB page. I, too, leave my cats to feast on my plants and am rewarded with more vigorous plants and butterflies & moths flying around my garden. ❤️
Glad you enjoyed the video ! Best wishes .
I have 4 of them in my small curry leaf tree.. I'm going to watch them fly❤❤❤❤
Really nicely done! Wow, that caterpillar is well camouflaged. And the butterfly was beautiful!
Thanks Jim !! Glad you enjoyed the antics of the little fella :)
U r so kind & generous to lower animals.. God bless you :)
Thanks :)
The caterpillar tries to camouflage itself with its green back. Great capture. Best wishes Patrick
Yes it is almost invisible till you spot it !! Thanks a bunch Patrick , hope you are well and your allotment is doing good .
Thumbs up for your attitude MBG! I'd never seen that much big catterpiller! Thanks for sharing:)Good wishes,Shalbin
I am sure there are plenty in your garden Shalbin , you just haven't spotted them , because my garden is so small and in my living area , I get to observe closely . Thank you for the good wishes , have the rains stopped in Kerala ?
Mumbai Balcony Gardener | Avid Life Observer You're right MBG,I need to observe my garden much more closely :).Weather is strange now in August, after nearly a week of showers again hot and dry .My chillies are in very productive stage ,next week onwards tomatoes will be planted to the ground;) Best wishes for your coming gardening season!!

I used to pluck that leave where i find caterpillars but from now i’ll let them enjoy my curry leaves 😛😛
Enjoy 💚 🐛 🦋.
@@mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies idk why but ur caterpillar (emoji) looks like centipede
😂
Let us pray for the caterpillar.
It is all part of the food chain , they are eaten up by crows as soon as they are spotted .
So Positive...comments ..positive approach...
Thank you !
Thank you for this. I discovered 4 caterpillars today on my kadhipatta plant.. And I ws a little anxious what will happen to the plant. so Googled and thanks to your video, I'm relieved. Now excited to watch the butterfly coming out. 😊
The beauty of nature ... let it free and grow ... 1 day , it will come back and thanks u
I like your hospitality 😜 I have 6 of them on my orange and lemon plants and and I'm waiting for them tu turn into butterfly 💓 even if they eat all my plant leafs I know eventually they all come back after a while
😆😆 well at least they are enjoying their snacks and I enjoy watching them chomping away . They usually emerge from the cocoon very early morning , just as the sky begins to show some light and fly away ( safety mechanism perhaps ? ) .
Amazing!!! I love your commentary. May THE LORD JESUS CHRIST BLESS YOU.
I love this! She's such a sweet person
Thank you , glad you enjoyed the video :)
Start (Starring) and End (the way you concluded) was amazing and the content was very informative. Thank You.
I try to make the video interesting with the content and the editing , sometimes it just clicks , like it did for this video , thanks for appreciating !
I am blessed to have so many caterpillars on my curry plant. Sometimes 12-15 caterpillars are there. My daughter's enjoy watching them
😄
Nice. Just happened to our curry leaf plant, did a reverse image search and found this video. Thanks
Wow... live and let live... wish more people think like you...wonderfull
Just imagine , if plants died after all the leaves are sollowen by the caterpillars , very soon butterflies will find no place to lay their eggs . Nature is built in such a way that when one animal take advantage from the other , it always pay it back in another way : in this case the wastes of the caterpillars act as fertilizer for the plants. I found this out from my own garden . Plants always become more flourish after their leaves are eaten by caterpillars !
Very true!
Loved your message you them.
Such an honor to have them in our garden. I plant to attract bees, butterflies and insects. I just leave them to do as they please..
I have caterpillars that eat my arum.lilly plants down to the ground every year. without fail.
Keep it up good work 👍
Ha ha the same thing happened with me last week, there was a caterpillar on my lemon plant.. when i move leaf to check she released some kind of weird pungent smell.. i was so scared bec i have a small baby..i picked the caterpiller and kept her on diff tree in my parking.. i hope she like mangoes 😂😂.. lovely video dear..
LOL clever caterpillar . Mango is a distant relative of citrus ( I hope ) and the caterpillar will be happy :) . Glad you enjoyed the video.
Just found these on my lemon plant, was going to get rid but after some research found this video, there are 7 of these on the plant, let's give life a chance
Omg loved it! I wouldn't get mad at the caterpillar epithet lol 😉
Haha glad you to know you share my sentiments :):) , poor things have eaten the leaves they were sitting on and fallen off to the ground !!
Mumbai Balcony Gardener | Avid Life Observer lol!
Such a cute video and the caterpillar looked as if he was wearing a little coat (LOL). The butterfly was very pretty as well. :) Peaches
LOL thank you Peaches :):)
I have this 2 caterpiller in my flowering plant.
Muje lagta hai leamon ya orange ke plant pe jyada chances caterpillar dikhne ke or Apka plant bhi orange ya lemon ka he hai
i have the same on my lemon plant, its a butterfly caterpillar mam!
Yes it is ! You can see the butterfly at the end of the video .
@@mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies yes i have ssen, 4 are there on my lemon plant out of which 2 are in the crysalis/pupa stage
im from mumbai(thane) too!!
Amazing...I found what I am trying to search...Caterpillar on a citrus tree...but let me share you an interesting incident happened this morning at our Apartment cellar. I saw the Butterfly & I thought it just flying by from somewhere & sat on this little 2 feet citrus plant. Amazing thing is it just came out of cocoon and wondering around...on the branches...I took into my hand..and left on the branches...of her citrus plant.its worth to cherish this memory & happy to share with you all...
👌👌🙏
When you show us the caterpillar as the suspected creature, the caterpillar was like : "whot?" 😂
😂😂👌
yeh thanx....
They are here in Hawaii too! They are voracious eaters. Every 4to 5 days we check our plants and find them bright green and fat.
Lol you are spot on !!
Awesome very nice Video very useful thanks mam
very nice and informative video.i just spotted these guest on my curry plant and had no idea about it being a beginner.thanks

Tyvm...
Welcome !!
That's a Male Mormon Butterfly (Female Mormon have orange color patterns at the bottom of there wings while Male doesn't) Also the Pupa has a pair of retractable red horns hidden above its head..
Nature is amazing. Thanks for sharing. Best wishes Bob.
Indeed ! Most welcome Bob and best wishes to you as well :)
Great photos and video, loved all the close up footage. It is a pretty cute caterpillar and beautiful butterfly. I always let Black Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars eat up my dill. I can't be mad at something that is going to turn into such a beautiful and beneficial creature someday.
Thanks Christa , I love what you do with your footage as well , yes too cute !!
Wonderful thinking! God bless
Thank you for the good wishes , appreciated !!
The same happened to me, relocated it to new pot. But, surprised to see lemon plant regrow more leafs than before.. A second lemon plant got affected, i leaft them alone to their fate..
I have 2 of this..... Its called " Lime Swallowtails " ..... They like citrus leaves...
Hi MBG, great footage on the growth cycle from caterpillar, to pupa, to butterfly, even i wouldn't mind having butterfly caterpillar chomp on my plants but unfortunately its always the moths here :))
Thank you Suzanne !! I would have thought these guys would be having a party on your curry tree or kafir lime , surprising you don't have these visitors . I loved the caterpillars on your lilly plants , they were spectacular :):)
Great video 👏👏 and commentary makes this more amazing
Thanks !!
So lovely nature of yours..😉😄
OMG.. this is adorable 😍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the video!!❤️❤️ I am currently rearing a caterpillar which has recently turned into a pupae, now waiting for it to turn into a butterfly 😄
Thank you , enjoy :)
Hi. I have three of these .I too don't want to hurt them but will my plant die?
Plant won't die , new growth will come .
Hi ..past few days I was finding half eaten lemon leaves ..I thought it to be a bird who does it ..But today I saw 2 caterpillars on the leaves . So I checked your video for more info and on seeing the above video decided to let them enjoy the leaves instead of relocating ...
👌👌👏👏
you can't relocate them, they only eat specific plants (like mosts do)
I had such caterpillar in one of the plant and it got caught by lizard in my garden. And it is so cute and the way it eats is also so cute. Probably the way u shot it makes it to enjoy. Basically we Dont tolerate such a ones which is destroying the garden
Yes I thoroughly enjoyed this guy chomping away , rather cute .
I think crows eat them too when spotted , I suddenly find many missing at times.
@@mumbaibalconygardenerhobbies yes u r correct. But in my terrace garden, Crows go behind lizards. So, mother nature is wonderful and sometimes I think about this and gets astonished the gods creation. A great food chain
Beautiful
Thank you !
your themes for the garden very nice also have a large garden
Thank you !!
I'm raising these caterpillars
I saw 2 caterpillars on my curry leaf plant today morning and almost half of leaves gone. Searched on UA-cam, watched this video & one thing that struck is, your voice is sooooo similar to mine 😁
Wow that is nice to know :)
Yes. Even I do get many of them on my curry plant. We should protect these tiny creatures. If your garden doesn't have such insects then your garden is not a perfect ecosystem.
You are Beautiful like the Butterfly!!! I have the same on my lemon tree (I think!...I have spotted curled leaves & many, many spider webs in tree.....) I will look for the caterpillars & take the same approach as you! Very Inspiring, sister!
They're somehow cute 😁 Reminds me of a Pokemon called Caterpie.
😂😂👌
😂😂👌
Hi. How do you know when the butterfly will emerge from the cocoon? I have baby spiky caterpillars now.
Wonderful thought!
Thanks !
caterpie🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Hi, sweet basil can wander off these unwanted insects. Crush some sweet basil leaves, take the juice mix it with some water and spray over the plants, which is a natural pesticide. But it will attract lots and lots of honey bees.
Hope people seeing this video and reading comments will find your solution useful , thank you . I don't consider them unwanted though , they will turn into much needed butterflies .
Thank you for saving the caterpillar from killing by me, I was about to kill them with lemon oil spray, I searched and got to know from your video, Everone loves butterfly but very few know how they born, If these caterpillar's not harming fruits and new shoots of a plant only eating leaves then no problem to anyone, the plant survives with new leaves comes once these babies turn into beautiful butterflies. thanks, nice photography
Thanks for your video.... Actually I don't know about these cute little rascals.... After watching your video I came to know about these beautiful creatures.... I have 5 of them right now on my Currey leaf plant.... I am gonna plant more plants for them.... Thank you very much
That is awesome 🌱👌👍🙏
i too have these caterpiller on my lemon plant many times... i watch them daily growing but i had never seen turning them into butterfly...😔
rahul singh The emerging from cocoon usually happens overnight and the butterfly is gone before the day is bright , usually 6 or 6.30 am .
ok... i will be waking up whole nigh nixt time... i just wanted to see them turning into beautifull butterfly..;-)
Hey thank u very much but my small lemon plant . It will survive wherever it is. But the catterpillar is so cute.eats up all the leaves
This is why I don't go out in the wild at night
Spray your plants leaves with Neem oil water mixture. Nice video and good that you didn't kill it!
The one which is eating curry leaves can eat citrus ?.. If so I can feed them citrus leaf instead of curry leaf in captivity..( curry leaves shortage ?
Precisely happenning in my plamt
Tx for sharing
This caterpillar I saw in my yard eating my vegetables which I grow for my parrots
I guess the early bird gets the worm 😅 or is it the early worm gets the bird ?
They polish off leaves so quick !!
How to get rid of them....I have planted one lemon plant and want to see it bear fruit.
Today i saw this caterpillar on my curry leave plant, so i relocate them to citrus plant. Hope they will survive 🦋
Hi, Thank you for posting this. I found a bunch of these caterpillars on my lemon tree. I guess the leaves won't last but is there anything to do once they turn into a butterfly? I have never experienced this
New leaves emerge , it's like a hard pruning . The butterfly emerges and flies away at the crack of dawn . If you miss it you will just find an empty cocoon left behind.
You are welcome !!
I discovered two intruders 🐛🐛 munching on Bilva Patras in my little garden today. 😂 I had no issues with them enjoying the nature's buffet. Infact, they give an impression that they like your garden. Also If you look at them closely they are adorable. Waiting for them to turn into beautiful butterflies...🐛🐛🦋🦋
