I´ve been singing for 45 years now..But this is what i always will put at the top of my list.. The Beachboys are No. 1 and Mr Brian Wilson is the supreme commander of the singing world!
I still listen to them nearly everyday. One of the best groups ever. No one could do what they did. Writing and voices unparalleled. Still my favorite.
Many people don't know that Brian Wilson re-worked this song in 1963 with lyrics as a tribute to legendary actor James Dean - The Beach Boys recorded it with brilliant and gorgeous acapella vocals and titled it "A Young Man Is Gone".
That was the version that I heard first, from the Little Deuce Coupe album. Eventually, they put out a live version of Their Hearts Were Full of Spring on the Live in London album.
this is probably the last time they really sounded like the beach boys they were in the 60s i love brians falsetto, not many videos of him like this past the 60s
Yeah his bass is outrageously impressive. And people don't even know that's what he's singing in these harmonies because he doesn't look like he's doing it.
this version is terrific just for that high note at the end that doesn't exist in both the previous beach boys version (1966 live) and the freshmen original version. guess who plays that high note. Brian. terrific band them, terrific musician him
They sang this at the inaugural George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards Gala that I was fortunate enough to attend in September 2019 at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City, except in that case it was dedicated to George and Barbara Bush though, not the Reagans
This one is true live. There's another upload on here of the very same appearance that's NOT. This one IS live. Just the five of them. BTW, who are the idiots who gave this a thumbs down??
Who is singing the top line? Brian used to (ex. when they performed and recorded this song back in 65/66) but at this point his regular voice was a shadow of what it once was...but his falsetto still sounded good when he wanted it to, ex. "Getcha Back." The song only requires 4 voices, so I wonder if maybe Bruce doubled the top line with Brian to help him out?
There is definitely a clear Brian on the high part. You can't mistake the "whinning" nature of it. He could still pull it out on occasion until the mid 90's at least- Here is a little from late 1988 - ua-cam.com/video/an5WiAzee-w/v-deo.html
Even with half a voice Brian blows everyone out of the water with his passion and genuine nature
Brian with his arm around Carl is just as moving as the song itself. No dry eye here!
2:04 I love the way Mike looks at Brian like, "Damn he's really still got the falsetto!"
I love the way Brian and Mike put their hands delicately on their friends shoulders. What a band!
Brian Wilson is an American Icon a treasure of American song writing. What an angelic performance.
Of course, this classic piece was written by jazz pianist, singer/songwriter and actor Bobby Troup!

Totally agree!
👍👍👍
No rock band has ever sung as well as The Beach Boys. Live performance here.
I still listen to them nearly everyday. One of the best groups ever. No one could do what they did. Writing and voices unparalleled. Still my favorite.
The greatest. If you haven’t listened yet, you should check out the “Sail On Podcast”. Start from episode 1. If you’re a super fan, you’ll LOVE IT
A salute to Brian's inspiration, "The Four Freshman" as this was their tune.
The very best, no other group can ever top them!

Actually the rewritten lyrics were by Mike Love. TK

@tknagano3498 yes, and they were actually very well written lyrics. I'm not a big fan of Mike Love but I believe in giving credit where it is due.
"Many people don't know. . ."??? (?)
EVERYBODY knows this -- are you the possessor of some arcane knowledge of which the rest of the world is unaware?
What a magnificent group this was. I wish we had at least 1/10th of quality in music today, but we have NONE!
Best singing group ever. No one even comes close. 😊
Love these guys. . .and their beautiful music, of course.THankyou, Brian Wilson! you're the best!
There's NOTHING like the Beach Boys
They still can. I saw them on the 50th anniversary tour last summer. And it was them in all their glory! Mike's nasal voice and all!!!
Just brilliant!! What a shame we all have to grow old.
Beautiful harmonies love them
Saw The Beach Boys 2 nights ago. Just wonderful.
That's awesome such an awesome band
1:57 - Brian's Back!
his note was a semitone off so mike had to make his note a semitone lower lol
one tone lower than the original yet beautiful and touching as usual
Beautiful music something we are missing today.
I remember watching this live. It was dedicated to Ronald and Nancy Reagan. No one will ever touch these guys' vocal blend.
When these guys get up to sing. Sit down and shut up. WOW.
this is probably the last time they really sounded like the beach boys they were in the 60s i love brians falsetto, not many videos of him like this past the 60s
Just beautiful.
Fabulous. Beautiful.
That is so very incredibly beautiful!
I've always thought Mike had the toughest part as bass was not his natural voice. Beautiful here.
Oh yes, his parts were often the toughest, and he did an amazing job.
Yeah his bass is outrageously impressive. And people don't even know that's what he's singing in these harmonies because he doesn't look like he's doing it.
Yeah he was kind of pigeonholed as the bass since he was the lowest voice in the group at the start, but he did a great job
This is very perfect😭
My high school jazz choir does this song. I love it so much
This Video I Remember Back Eighties!!!
I can't get the volume any louder on the phone. Stunning 😲
Just awesome.
An American Treasure, the Beach Boys! They even rivaled the Beatles, that is in avery mutual admiring way because they were friends.
Wow.
amazing
A nice tribute to The Four Freshmen!
I don't remember now. From what I recall it was some type of special that was honoring both Ronald and Nancy.
Rip Denny and Carl
WOW
this version is terrific just for that high note at the end that doesn't exist in both the previous beach boys version (1966 live) and the freshmen original version. guess who plays that high note. Brian.
terrific band them, terrific musician him
All heroes, no villains. 🙂

2:04 that falsetto is 1960s falsetto
If only Dennis was there to sing with them...
I've read they're singing along to a pre-recorded vocal. Hence, we're hearing 10 vocalists!
This one is true live. There's another upload on here of the very same appearance that's NOT. This one IS live. Just the five of them.
BTW, who are the idiots who gave this a thumbs down??
darrenjray is correct.
No backing track.
No. This is just 5 vocals, no overdubs, no pre-recorded tracks.
Obviously, you've been misinformed by what you read. There are only five voices here.
No standing ovation?
Actually it may have been for his inaguration in 85 maybe?
Who is singing the top line? It’s Brian
Brian with his ozzy voice
RIH, Carl Wilson. -----------------------------------WolfSky9, 72 y/o
And it's sad that Dennis couldn't be there.
Yes, this is singing along to a pre-record, so it's ten voices, not 5. still, it's BW actually SINGING!!! Like only he could. -------Wolfsky9
Bruce was used to singing Brian's part when Brian wasn't touring, so he's basically doubling Brian here.
Precisely 🙂
They were singing with tracks
Indeed 🙂
thats all brian, Bruce seems to be doubling Carl. Maybe to make it seem fuller??
The high end is all Brian (yeah 11 years too late) has the characteristic metallic sound from his post 76 falsetto
What year is this?
85 i think
they doubled the voices later...believe me
Lip sync but still awesome!
😂😂😂
too bad it was for reagan
Cry more, lib
