Hockey is usually playedin the fall/autumn. Especially late fall. The season go through winter.

The revenue order for team sports in the USA:
NFL > MLB > NBA > NHL > MLS

Baseball players make the most money because they play 162 games a year. Football has a larger per game attendance since there are only 16 regular season games per season. Hockey players are woefully underpaid except for the top 2-3 players per team and have very high injuries as does the NFL. MLB careers last 10-20 years, NFL and NHL 5-10 on average

Hockey is Like Soccer….Except it’s not boring and takes money to play
There is a big difference in wages in the NHL, but all the players make good money. Many rookies get around 700,000 dollars for a season. The avergare salary is about 2-3 millions but there are quite a few players who make over 10 million dollars per season. Highest salary this (22/23) season was 12.6 million dollars, thats for a canadian player. Highest payed swede was 11.5. Alexander Ovechkin (who was in this video) has a salary of around 9.5, but then there are bonuses so he got around three more millions. So there is a lot of money in the NHL, in the Swedish leagues the best players get around 250,000 dollars per season. Many young players maybe earn just 50,000 (or even less) in Sweden, but then gets ten times more as a rookie in NHL, so there is a big jump. Highest salaries in the Russian league is about 1,2 million dollars per year.

In terms of player earnings of the 4 major sports NHL players earn the least compared to the other four major sports. The biggest NHL contracts would be pretty cheap in the MLB and NBA and for most positions in the NFL other than say RB, LB and DB

As a little kid in the US we played wiffle ball before we were old enough to play "hard ball" (which is regular baseball). Played with my older brother in our back yard. When I pitched I could make the wiffle ball sink when it got to him as the batter as though it fell off of a table. My brother asked me to show him how I did it, but to this day I have not told him (and we are 65 and 66 years old, respectively). 😛
