  • I am in zone 6a and decided to try grafting some other varieties on my American Persimmon fruit trees! I grafted, Sajo, Mikkusu (aka JT-02), Rosseyanka and have Nakita's Gift variety at the house.
Anyway, here are the results after 2 1/2 months!!!

Many persimmon leaves just grow in an ugly curled shape, then straighten out as they fully develop. Don't be alarmed about how the new leaves look. Nice results, thanks for sharing!

Might be persimmon psyllid that's curling the leaves. I would definitely stake those new shoots. For a couple of years actually. Very jealous of that large tree producing!

Thanks for the advice and info. I agree with staking them! I have been trying to decide the best way to do that. Because if it isn't the wind, it's the deer. 😔I guess that's part of sharing with nature. 🙂
I actually took one of your Rosseyanka cuttings to graft in that video! I used another one of them on another tree. I hope to post that video soon!
      Thanks again

I'm in NE Ohio as well, and about a month ago I purchased a Rosseyanka as well. Best of luck to you this growing season.

That's great! You'll have to let us know how it handles the winter! Hopefully both of our will be productive for years to come! Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, I was pretty surprised! I grafted them in May of the prior year.
