Hello I recently started reenacting the wild west and I'm looking for a boot I could use would you recommend the Thursday boots for this purpose? I can't seem to find other affordable boots that look the way I want accept the Thursday boots
I am excited for this one. Yes cut all of them up! I would love to see the leather soled boots Sass as well. I am in the market for boots and the Cowboy boots series has been super helpful in seeing what is worth it in that area.
I would say for a good beginner Boot, go with Ariat. They aren't the best, but they are good. You can find a lot of decent pairs for 200 and below. I've been wearing a pair for a few years now as my dailys' and I've encountered no problems. But it all depends on what you think is valuable or greatly made. These Thursdays look good, but also not the greatest. Hope this helps in some way.
Check out Hondo completely traditionally made with quality materials … best I’ve seen for the price . I just got a pair of rios of Mercedes. Damn nice but pretty pricey as well … looking for my next pair now .
I purchased a pair just recently and it felt great. I agree with a lot of your points on styling and quality. My biggest problem was that it was just too narrow. I wish Thursday came out with wide boots in more styles.
It’s funny, in Nov 8, 2021 I messaged Thursday asking if they were getting into the Cowboy boot game. They said they were playing with the idea. As soon as they were released I ordered my pair. Desperados in Old Town color. Fit is great, ordered my normal Thursday size (I own captains). These boots were a little snug in the camp area but should stretch over time and fit amazingly. I highly suggest the boots! Love them and I’m a boot enthusiast and beginning collector.
Thank you so much for the quality of videos you put out. Because of your videos I haven’t been disappointed in a boot purchase in a couple of years, now that you have provided info previously unavailable to the consumer
YES ! ! ! Please do a deeper dive into the construction of multiple cowboy boots... the older I get the harder it is to bend down to lace up my boots(bad back), so I am interested in moving to cowboy boots that I can just slip on and off without throwing my back out... Thanks Wes... love the show
Love these boot analysis videos. That Thursday boot does look like a low bar to entry cowboy boot. I do like seeing quality & quality for the money boots and shoes out there. I appreciate quality foot gear, having had jobs where I was standing or tromping about all day.
I bought the Mavericks back in October. They've been great so far. Easy break-in period, comfortable, and stylish for everything from jeans and T-shirts to khakis to sport jackets. I have other Thursdays, so it was an easy leap to buy a pair of their cowboy boots. They've become my go-to boot with jeans for most situations, and they're exactly the style I've been looking for in a cowboy boot.
My first pair of Thursdays will be here today. I've seen consistently positive comments about their products all over here and Reddit, with a few outliers who need to temper their expectations. So, yeah I'd trust Thursday to make fairly priced boots that are good quality
As someone who wears cowboy boots on a daily basis I can say that there are other options available around the price range with equal or better quality, I like the fact that the heel-stack and the upper are made of good quality leather but I’m still missing that slab of leather in the midsole and I’d prefer something a little more rugged and slip resistant for an outsole. To me they feel like a casual dress shoe. A personal favorite brand of mine is Horsepower boots which are also made in Mexico, they feature a full leather heel stack but although the midsole and outsole are made of leather they are relatively thin. Either way they make a comfortable and good looking cowboy boot. I don’t mean to sound like a hater and ultimately it comes to personal preference but if he’s trying to explore options for his viewers there are a lot more brands out there he could look into, not just big names and brands that sponsor videos.
Those horsepower boots look really nice. I also agree that some more brand variety would be nice but ultimately i've accepted that youtubers have to pay the bills and sponsors are a part of that
@zaku08 OK. So I hope I can help. If you're a first-time boot owner, I would find something comfortable instead of something you like the look of. Of course, find something you like but prioritize comfort over style. Personally, I've owned the Thursday Desperados for a month now. I can say that these have been the best boots for this price range. Most of the time, I would worry about buying anything you aren't sure about. The Desperados tend to run a bit narrow, so order a size up if you have wide feet. I wear size 10.5 EE, so ordering an 11 worked great. And with thursday, their sizes are a 1/2 size bigger than they say they are(10 is actually 10.5, 10.5 = 11, ect.) I would recommend thursday as a great starter boot, and just a great boot all round. I hope this helps.
I own several pairs of the Captain Thursday boots and recently got one pair the Desperado Arizona adobe cowboy boots, these is the very first pair of cowboy boots I've ever gotten and so far the experience has been great; I ordered the same size as the Captain, these fit perfectly no break in period at all, it's a very good boot and very comfortable
I bought a pair of the desperado in that same color way. So far they been great they look and feel amazing I have only had the for 6 days and I worn them 4 day straight. I gotten a lot of complements. And they are braking it well. I bought a full size down to a 12that is what I wear on dress boots and shoes on sneakers I can wear a 13. Great product for the price. Am glad you cut them in half for me now I know what they really gave me and so far am super happy with all the materials they have. Thanks
Thursday seems like the perfect intro to cowboy boots company. A comparison between the lineup could be a helpful tool for Thursday as well. I never got into cowboy boots because of the coast and knowing the reputation cowboy boots have for comfort and fit. What we saw here was a boot I would really consider as an introduction but I'd like to know if I pay a bit more can a get some more leather underfoot for example. A test for wide feet would be greatly appreciated as well. Hard to find a cowboy boot where I don't stand on the welt.
I would be interested in the cut of the other two Thursday cowboy boots as well. I think it'd be interesting to see the makes of each of the boots and the components. Thanks for doing this!
The Desperado are my first pair of western boots I’ve purchased. They somehow managed to make a good looking and affordable boot. I did run into an issue with the inseam coming apart on the inside of one of the boots. Luckily Thursday exchanged them for a different pair. I purchased the Desperado and captain in a size 11.5. The desperado is more comfortable. This could be due to the square toe design.
I have already bought Redbacks for work, Solovair for not work because of this channel, and now I gonna convince myself I need a pair of cowboy boots from Thursday.
The sizing is really consistent. I also own the President Thursday boots, and the boots feel almost identical on my feet. The only exception is that the Desperados have a slight heel slip like all cowboy boots. They felt too tight when I first got them, but mine fit perfectly now that I've broken them in. Great boots.
I purchased a pair in my normal Thursday size and wound up having to exchange them for a half size up. The boots feel great - broke in quickly and are wearing well. I work in an office so I'm not really needing a "work" boot. As long as they hold up like my other Thursdays they'll be great!
A cowboy boot that would be cool to cut apart would be an Anderson Bean S3000. Seems like they use leather for the sole and counter and then use, for this model, a large rubber sole with a pattern on it. Could add it to your made in USA videos since they are made in Mercedes Texas
I just bought this boot and I'm pretty pleased with the quality for what I paid. Similar to the other Thursday boots I have. They are one of the few boot companies that come in my size (16 US). When I saw they made western boots, I world I've only recently dipped my large toes into, I had to try them. I also have a pair of Tecovas, and what a boot! I'm going to have to look through and see if you have reviewed them, but I love them. They are a size 15, so a little tight, and I was looking for something I could wear more casually. I have run my other Thursday's ragged and I'm happy to have supplemented them with these. We will see if they can hold up to my everyday abuse.
Excellent review. I love all the little extras you include in your videos, like on this video the censored part, the sander going down to the suede etc.
I had some desperados, they were very comfortable but the heel on my right boot kept separating from the boot. I took it into a cobbler and she said she fixed them but possibly made it worse. Best looking pair of shoes I’ve ever owned though.
I own these boots in black with the rubber bottom. I work as a police officer and wear these on duty for 12 hour shifts. These work great! Scuffed them in a fight, doctored them up and you can hardly notice. I hope they continue to make this boot just like this!! For i will be buying a pair yearly. 7 months on the pair I’m wearing now. The rubber bottom, flat black and square nose makes me love this boot! P.s. i have US size 12s. Fit great.
I would like to see the other Thursday cowboy boots cut up. I currently have the Thursday captains that I bought, because of your channel, and contemplating getting a pair of their cowboy boots. I just wish they came in different widths, because my older cowboy boots are to tight for me now.
You should do Alvie’s! They allegedly have a full leather heel counter and toe box! I’d love to see the construction of these as in the cowboy boot community they are often said to be built like tanks
I’m very interested in these and glad you did this. I got the email from Thursday a few weeks ago about these boots and figured they were decent quality, now I know. I own several pairs of Thursday shoes and boots and really like them all.
Thursday is one of the "best bang for the buck" quality footwear manufacturers on the planet, if not THE very best. I hope someday they offer [wide] and even [2X wide] widths someday. I want to get a pair of their sneakers SOOO bad but I have really wide feet and I know it would be a disaster. For some reason, I can get by with some styles of boots without the wide width, I still would prefer wider options.
Just noticed theyre offering wide options in some styles. The captain and a few others. On their website, Right above the color of leather you'll see width tabs. Pretty neat
The Matte Black rugged and resilient lowtop sneakers for some reason are plenty wide for me (I wear EE width boots), the white sneaker and black w/ white sole are super narrow and hurt like hell. Their Diplomats are also wide enough for me, but in Captains I need the wide version. Their sizing is a little all over the place but their return/exchange process is very quick and easy
Yes! Thanks, Wes! You’re the man! I asked a few weeks ago if you could get the Desperado & cut it apart. I think I’m getting them. That exact pair to be my “everyday” western style boot. I’m also interested in the other 2 models as well. Particularly the Frontier in their shiny Brown color for more “dressy” occasions. I like the other model but my experience with that round point toe is hit or miss. Edit: So, I have had this exact boot for a little over a year now along with the Thursday Maverick in Anejo. I absolutely love them. The desperado has become the boot I reach for most. It is literally that comfortable & versatile. My Mavericks are very comfortable as well, but I wear those as a more dressy boot. They’re also super light. These two were my first Thursday boots. I received a pair of President’s in the Mocha Suede this past Christmas & to be perfectly honest, they hurt my right heel. Not sure why. They also have a sloppy fit & I need to tie the laces really tight to help keep them somewhat sturdy on my feet. It’s almost as if I got a wide boot even though they aren’t labeled as wide. I won’t be ordering anymore President’s or even Captains. So I’ve literally only wore them about 3-4 times because of this. But I absolutely LOVE my Thursday western boots. Even more than my Tecovas Dean which the foam has seemed to bottom out & they feel a bit hard underfoot but a cushioned sock helps. I tried a thin insole but it crunches up my toes in the toe box.
I purchased the Thursday Maverick in Anejo, and love the boot. It’s my everyday walking cowboy boot and very comfortable - breaks in very quickly. I find the fit equal to my other Thursday boots in 11.5D - I also own the Captain and Wingtip boots in 11.5D. By comparison, I also own a Tecovas Dillon pecan caiman belly boot but sized in a 12D - the 11.5 was too tight in the instep on the Tecovas.
I have both styles of the Captains (rugged and resilient and classic), chukkas, and most recently, the Desperados. IMO you cannot beat the value and quality. I normally wear a size 10 and all of my Thursday boots are 9.5. I only wear a 10 with their premier low tops. Love the channel!
I have 3 pair of captains. 2 without the lugged bottoms and one with. The sizing is different on the two without lugged bottoms. One is a size 10.5 fits perfect. The second pair was far to big and I needed a size 10. Regardless returns and exchanges are free so that was easy and the boots are very comfortable right out the box. Minimal break in required
Love that you did this video! Great to see Thursday's take on a cowboy boot. My daily wear rotates through Tecovas, Boulet, and Lucchese cowboy boots, along with a pair of classic Red Wing (Irish Setter) moc toe boots - one with upland sole and the other in the work boot sole. Would really like to see you review each of the Thursday cowboy boots.
I am fairly impressed by the Thursday cowboy boots. Enough that I will have to try a pair. I want to compare them with the comfort of others in my collection. Tony Lama became an inferior boot when they were bought out by Justin. Luckily, I still have a few older pairs of Tony Lama's when they were built right.
One year later.... I had an issue with a corner of the rubber sole coming loose about a month in. Thursday promptly sent me a replacement pair of boots. At this point I've worn them every day, all day. The sole is showing slight signs of wear, the leather has held up great, and I'm sitting here wearing them as I'm typing this, before going outside and blowing leaves. Even having arthritis in my right foot, these are the most comfortable footwear I own, even compared to my Brooks running shoes.
I don't have their cowboy boots but I have bought a few other models. They are really well built with the exception of their cavalier Chelsea boot. The leather on the bottom tore within a few months of wearing it and started folding over the rubbber studs on the bottom. They're probably better off just sticking to either full leather bottom or full rubber.
I been looking to by my first cowboy boots after watching your videos I was sold on the chisos but this boot is night too I’m wait till you make another cowboy boot video
It's got a nice hung liner like the tecovas and chisos. That also makes them easier to slip on and off but having no leather in the footbed/sole is a big deal breaker
Yes, would definitely like to see the rest of their cowboy boots cut up. Ill take the plunge on a cowboy boot eventually, and I think it might be a Chisos, but I dont mind blind buying a Thursday for the price.
So I just ordered these and I will say the look is awesome, unfortunately don't go with the half size down on these ones I'd say stick to your normal size
I feel like there are plenty of western boots for around the same price, Double H, Ariat, Tony Llama, Twisted X, Justin. I’ve personally gone through two Double H and three Ariats. The Double H are durable and made for work, but they aren’t very comfortable for my foot. My first pair I wore for 2.5 years, I slipped once in them. That’s due to a dark room and puddle of oil I didn’t see. Ariats aren’t as great for work in my experience, but boy are they comfortable. Barely any break in period, but they also don’t last as long. Not sure what brand to try for my next work boots.
Nice review as always. I would really like to see the others cut apart as well.. Didn’t know Thursday made cowboy boots.. They are one of my favorite boots and shoes..

I bought a pair of cowboy Dingo harnest boot, can you check it in a video?
Yes, I'd love to see a cross-comparison of all the Thursday cowboy boots!
I agree
I 3rd that motion!!!!

Would be super helpful to see the triple side by side for the Thursdays!!
I am excited for this one. Yes cut all of them up! I would love to see the leather soled boots Sass as well. I am in the market for boots and the Cowboy boots series has been super helpful in seeing what is worth it in that area.

My first pair of Thursdays will be here today. I've seen consistently positive comments about their products all over here and Reddit, with a few outliers who need to temper their expectations. So, yeah I'd trust Thursday to make fairly priced boots that are good quality

Let's see those other Thursday boots! Curious to see a pair of double H boots reviewed by you as well!
Yes all three and the women’s cowboy boot!
Great video again! Greetings from Holland
I would also like to see a comparison with the other models in the Rose Anvil 2 video.
You are my go to source for anything boot related.
Have you tried the Desperado boots in slim jeans? If so do they work well?
@@sotohc96 I haven't, only straight or bootcut jeans. I can't see these working under skinny jeans.
Dang that maverick pair looks gorgeous, I definitely need to see all the cowboy boots cut open
Of course I wanna see that. Bring it, Rose Anvil 2!
I would love to see their other Cowboy Boots Cut in Half. To see the difference in Styles.
Yes please, I need to see the other Thursday cowboys
Do the 3 thursday boots love these videos
Love that you did this video! Great to see Thursday's take on a cowboy boot. My daily wear rotates through Tecovas, Boulet, and Lucchese cowboy boots, along with a pair of classic Red Wing (Irish Setter) moc toe boots - one with upland sole and the other in the work boot sole. Would really like to see you review each of the Thursday cowboy boots.
I love this series! Been very helpful in helping me shop boots. I'd love to see how Dan Post boots stack up here. Fingers Crossed!
I'd love to see the others cut as well please! Very impresed with Thursday boots!
I remember them at first asked about the packer boot but at least they did a pair of boots.
I'd really love to see you cut up some double h boots. Especially a pair with their "ICE" sole. I bought a pair awhile back, and I love them.
Thanks! I would do love the follow up video too!
Where's Toaster? I just realized I have not seen him inspecting your work for quite a while.
I would love to see a video on Dan Post cowboy boots!
Informative video. Cowboys boots are stronger than sneaker !
I was waiting for this video!!! I own a pair of of Mavericks. Please do a video for all 3!
MDL Manufactured Density Leatherboard. Like MDF. Leatherdust and glue.
Yes please compare the other Thursday cowboy boots! Thanks great video
Wonder if that composite shank would make ladders.. or more likely.. stirrups more comfy? Kinda like lineman's boots.
Yes, cross comparison of Thursday Cowboy boots please
It's got a nice hung liner like the tecovas and chisos. That also makes them easier to slip on and off but having no leather in the footbed/sole is a big deal breaker
Cut them all up. I don’t wear cowboy boots but I love this stuff. Really hoping to get a pair of Thursday Diplomats soon.
Yes, would definitely like to see the rest of their cowboy boots cut up. Ill take the plunge on a cowboy boot eventually, and I think it might be a Chisos, but I dont mind blind buying a Thursday for the price.
I wanna see their other western boots cut in half too please!
Definitely wanna see the others!
Cut em up!
I don't know if I'll ever buy another pair of boots without seeing them cut apart first.
The ridge down the middle of the waist is very typical in cowboy boots
Yo these boots are definitely going on my shopping list
So I just ordered these and I will say the look is awesome, unfortunately don't go with the half size down on these ones I'd say stick to your normal size
You oughta take a gander at Rujo boots. They look to be trying to go the Tecovas route, but without so much crazy money into marketing
Need that sequel fam
I'm surprised!! I figured it would be more similar to tecovas
Im not really a fan of cowboy boots but I got to say if I ever try some these would be my first pick.
