Smith and Wesson will never let you down. I carry the 4” and have put over 1000 rounds with no issues what so ever. Also Installed everything APEX and Floyd’s Customs has to offer, best of the best.

Lol also looking at this to replace my x-macro as my edc. The grip being longer front to back with the option for bigger palm swells means better fit for my bigger hands. I could get one of those icarus precision grip mods but thats almost the cost of this gun
@@MonstaFreak13 it replaced the Xmacro for me tbh. the grip being thicker also helped me out a lot. only like 300 rounds so far but I really enjoy the gun more

One of those icarus grip mods would probably fix it bcus they have the large backstraps but 400 bucks is a bit steep especially cus i gota wait forever to even get it. I recently got an XXL backstrap from NDZ and it feels better. If i could do it again, id just buy the enhanced fcu, get an icarus grip mod, and buy the XL slide. The built in comp isnt all that noticeable, and having less barrel means less velocity and less accuracy. The Tacops is a better deal with the extra mags
Personally, I don't see the point of this pistol when we already had the excellent S&W M&P 9 M2.0 3.6" Sub-Compact pistol with its two included 12-round 9mm Luger magazines (one flush fit, one with the pinky extension), plus two included textured magazine grip spacer sleeves (one for the 15-round 9mm Luger magazine, one for the 17-round magazine). A shorter grip length is far more important for concealed carry than barrel & slide length. Otherwise, the M&P 9 M2.0 4" Compact is superior to and equally concealable as this 3.6" Compact model. The cheap plastic throw-away-grade adapter plates that S&W supplies are trash - they should have skipped / omitted those and just lowered the gun's price. I've opted to put aluminum alloy adapter plates from C&H Precision (in Richmond Hill, GA) on all of my S&W M&P M2.0 Optics Ready pistols sporting red dot sights. IMHO, and my own personal experience, the absolute best trigger out there that I've tried on a S&W M&P 9 M2.0 pistol is the aluminum alloy Overwatch Precision TAC trigger, followed by the aluminum alloy Timney Alpha trigger, both of which I prefer to the Apex Tactical trigger, which is better than any of the M&P OEM stock factory polymer triggers.
I have the SHIELD PLUS 9mm and just ordered the 15 round mags!! I am looking to buy this exact firearm because I think the grip on the SHIELD is a little to thin. Might be a little more meat on this compact to grab on to!!! Plus I LOVE IT!!!! SWEET FIREARM!!
Not really. I've been carrying my SHIELD PLUS with the 15 round mags and came to the conclusion that with the longer grip and 15+1 it really makes no sense to get a bigger firearm.with the same capacity.
Just picked one of these up. I love it so far! I have the same 509c also. Both are badass. Perfect size pistols for me. The M&P does fit my hands just slightly better.
Excellent review. I picked up the 4.25" for my wife last year and have been thinking of getting myself one of the compacts for myself. I'm also a big fan of the CHPWS plates over the plastic OEM ones.
Man, that Apex trigger not being reliable on your FN is a bummer. I installed the Apex flat Trigger on my S&W 2.0 3.6 I bought 5 years works like a champ so far.

This is a great pistol and sized for ppl who wear crotch IWB because its 3.6 inch barrel. The other choice I would reommend is either the CZP01 or DPCR both with 3.6" barrels too and reliable and accurate as hell. For these short line of sight pistols optics are very useful .
Just bought this few weeks ago, only diff is I got the manual safety. It’s not bothering my grip as well but I heard that the safety can be removed. Think I may do that since I don’t live with kids and pretty much myself and gf alone. However I needed something that concealable in my work cloths which believe it or not this 3.6 is kinda printing base on how I dress. I love the hun and have always been a fan of S&W. I am close to getting the shield plus just for work- my aim is to have something I can sit at work with while still on my body. Tried it with my 3.6inh and it’s just uncomfortable. I use to carry a Tarus G3C for conceal with a 10 round mag but I was just too in love with this M&P 2.0 not to buy it.

I also have the older m2.0 compact 4". Absolutely great gun that i plan to carry. And I use Speer gold dot +P 124gr JHP's. They're the highest muzzle energy & velocity 9mm (that isnt specialty ammo) at 411 lb. ft. Also reliable expansion & the pedals consistently flower without breaking off. But I have the same dilemma deciding on a holster (& not sure if I should get the one that accepts my olight baldr mini). Cause it wont hold the gun w/o the light. 🤔 I want the latest gen 2.0 though.. I love the changes. And the 3.6" would be the perfect balance between the 4" & a shield plus imo.
I live in Illinois as well… I’d like to get out of this state, lol. I was thinking about a shield plus in 9mm but I hate that it doesn’t come with an accessory rail from the factory. I also loved the flat faced trigger on the plus, another reason why I never considered a M&P 2.0, but now they are putting them on the 2.0’s as well, I think I may go with this one. How does the shield plus hold so many rounds? I want one of these and the performance center of the shield 2.0 in 40. I have a gen 1 shield 40 as my ccw currently. Only other ccw I have is my Glock 17. I have a G2c but I haven't shot it enough yet to put it in action. Has to be proven capable on the range.

There is an adapter plate available from streamlight that has all the mounts in a pack. Just a matter of choosing the right one from what I've heard. I've decided not to have a light on this one though.

This stuff is way too confusing….so the compact comes in 3.6” in addition to 4”? 3.6 isn’t the sub? I’m trying to get the right one as a home defense (non carry) weapon for my wife and I. We both have relatively small hands so the full size is out.
I take it that it won't fit into any normal holsters with those suppressor sights or am I wrong? I usually like BP Tactical Mini Wing holsters, but not if it would fit with those tall sights.
How's the new factory trigger in the M&P compared to the Apex in the FN? I have the earlier model 2.0 with an Apex trigger but I don't trust aftermarket parts 100%. I'd like to switch to m&p 2.0 with the new factory trigger.
I just bought this same gun with the TLR 7A. What was the mount kit you had to buy for the light to prevent it from falling off. I heard there were issues with the TLR 7A not staying in the 3.6 barrel.

Don't use the plate that is recommended for s&w. Use 1913-4 and it will lock. I had the same issue, so I started experimenting with the other plates it came with and thats the one that fits the gun.
@@graygunn71in your video you can clearly see your rail key in front of the picatinny rail. That’s why it would fall off. The key needs to be in an actual picatinny slot to be secure. You had yours in front and not in an actual slot so the light was basically just clamped onto the rail and would fall off during recoil. The correct key should have been the 1913-4 I believe.
When did you buy your FN? I heard they fixed the issue and it was the early models that had problems. I recently got one and have put a few hundred rounds with no problems, hopefully it stays that way. Untill I shoot 1k rounds with no malfunctions my Glock 26 is on my right hip and Fn509c on my left. But I will say I prefer my FN a lot more than my Glock but reliability is #1

I bought the same gun took in apart and polished everything trigger is way better took away the grit you have and can hear. I wouldn’t carry with a light in the day time. To much to hang you up.
Adding all that crap onto a carry gun just seems so pointless. As a fun range gun I get it, but no point having a flashlight on a range gun. But I love the M&P models and have several, including the sub compact, the compact, the full size, and the Shield Plus.
@@jlinka79 Had a self-defense situation a few months ago unfortunately, however I will say my Ct light and red dot sight did their job in this situation. If you're interested in optics then train with them, they help.

Happy owner, have a flush olight and a custom holster to hold the set up. Also extras mags for 15&17 round. Accurate never a mistake.

@@johnjuarez8005 problem is the striker also failed. They say you shouldn’t dry fire the 509. Too many issues for me to depend on. Great pistol tho.

Always a compromise. The shield is super concealable but I definitely can’t shoot it as well as the 3.6. Tier 1 Axis Elite all day.

If it’s a carry pistol I just rock stock everything, I add a light or extended controls but nothing else to jeopardize that go bang reliability.

Highly recommended. It has a shorter barrel but it is still a bit beefy. About Glock 19 size. Got the Tier 1 Axis Elite and ditched the light.

Double stack magazines. They have 15 rd mags available now too.

This stuff is way too confusing….so the compact comes in 3.6” in addition to 4”? 3.6 isn’t the sub?
I’m trying to get the right one as a home defense (non carry) weapon for my wife and I. We both have relatively small hands so the full size is out.
Yes. Two compact sizes and one 3.6” subcompact. Sub has less capacity and no optic ready option I believe. And the old style trigger.
I also have the 3.6 with a TLR 7A light but doesn’t fit. Am I missing something?
I’m told it’s just a matter of choosing the proper adapter included with the light. 1913 option I believe. I’m no longer using a light on this one.
I take it that it won't fit into any normal holsters with those suppressor sights or am I wrong? I usually like BP Tactical Mini Wing holsters, but not if it would fit with those tall sights.
Most holsters I've seen will support suppressor height sights by default. Just ordered a new Tier 1 Axis Elite that also works. Ditching the light.

Did you get it machine for your red dot? I got mine about 3 years ago and it doesn’t have the same trigger and mounting set up in the slide.
No. This is the M2.0 C.O.R.E. optic ready version. I believe they updated the front serrations and trigger last year.

Probably not. Most find them reliable. I think my issue was related to gunsmith.
Hope they come out with a non, dunce cap ready, version.
How's the new factory trigger in the M&P compared to the Apex in the FN? I have the earlier model 2.0 with an Apex trigger but I don't trust aftermarket parts 100%. I'd like to switch to m&p 2.0 with the new factory trigger.
The Apex was a little better but not mad at the new M&P at all.

@@christophercato8568 I’ve shot both. Not a big difference. 4” is probably a little better for concealment. Less hangover.
Man you broke the apex striker? That’s crazy. I broke two factory strikers in mine.

I just bought this same gun with the TLR 7A. What was the mount kit you had to buy for the light to prevent it from falling off. I heard there were issues with the TLR 7A not staying in the 3.6 barrel.
Correct. I got the adapter kit and the light still would work its way off eventually. I’ve ditched the light all together.
@@graygunn71 thank you for your input. Was the adapter one of the mounting plates that come with the light? Or is it an aftermarket kit you bought? What is the kit? Where did you buy it? Did you go with another light or no light?
@@dennisngina Streamlight Key Kit, Tlr-7/Tlr-8 Gun Light, 69177 - Optics Planet $14. No light for me now. It might have come with the light but I didn't have it.
Don't use the plate that is recommended for s&w. Use 1913-4 and it will lock. I had the same issue, so I started experimenting with the other plates it came with and thats the one that fits the gun.
@@graygunn71in your video you can clearly see your rail key in front of the picatinny rail. That’s why it would fall off. The key needs to be in an actual picatinny slot to be secure. You had yours in front and not in an actual slot so the light was basically just clamped onto the rail and would fall off during recoil. The correct key should have been the 1913-4 I believe.
What holster do you use for that one? I have the 4in barrel

You get 2 sleeves with the gun. I would guess that you could also get them from Smith & Wesson.

When did you buy your FN? I heard they fixed the issue and it was the early models that had problems. I recently got one and have put a few hundred rounds with no problems, hopefully it stays that way. Untill I shoot 1k rounds with no malfunctions my Glock 26 is on my right hip and Fn509c on my left. But I will say I prefer my FN a lot more than my Glock but reliability is #1
Little more than a year. Nice pistol, jut too many mods for reliable EDC for me.

I prefer it. Longer barrel so it doesn’t flop from the top and easier to draw. Kinda heavy tho.

Conceals the same as the 4.0 compact without the added sight radius, velocity and looks weird with my favorite light (tlr7a). No thanks.
I bought the same gun took in apart and polished everything trigger is way better took away the grit you have and can hear. I wouldn’t carry with a light in the day time. To much to hang you up.

Adding all that crap onto a carry gun just seems so pointless. As a fun range gun I get it, but no point having a flashlight on a range gun.
But I love the M&P models and have several, including the sub compact, the compact, the full size, and the Shield Plus.
@@jlinka79 Had a self-defense situation a few months ago unfortunately, however I will say my Ct light and red dot sight did their job in this situation. If you're interested in optics then train with them, they help.

Not according to the TLR fit guide on streamlight site. I had issues getting the TLR7 to stay in place which is supposed to fit. No light mounted now.
