Like Accelheight I am a heavier climber, in fact RRP instructions have a WWL of 308 pounds. I weigh 290 to 300 naked out of the shower. I too find breaking the bird loose difficult at times. I also have the OG RR with the baby bump friction plate installed and have no problems with breaking the bird on it. That tool runs very smoothly. I have asked the question several times before if they are going to come out with a baby bump for the RRP. Hope they do soon.

I don't know if thicker ropes can help, but that would be my best recommendation. I would look and see what the largest approved rope in the manual and maybe try a short hank of that and see if its good enough to use. You are pretty close to the WLL, so I would try to stay as lean as possible (both low amounts of gear and maybe trying to shed a few pounds) so you don't overload the device.

As a heavier climber, I have found that the bird binds up and takes considerable effort to break the hold. Think doing a pull up on the bird. It’s murder on the hands.

Have you tried a thicker rope? I know that helped me with the first version. Thicker rope and then adjusted the bird to be more open.

I 100% agree with you..I sold mine within having it for a week. It was extremely jumpy as well
Used on 3 different ropes including ecstatic.

Hi... nice overview. What ropes have you found to work best in the RRP? I've been running DrenaLine 11.8mm and it took a lot of adjustment to get it as smooth as I wanted. The only other issue I have is when the rope gets some sap on it the RRP gets very fussy as well.

I also use Drenaline and like it a ton. I might have gotten lucky. I just tightened up the top adjustment by the bird a couple of notches, and it seemed perfect. No slipping and easy to decend.
I think some double Braids like poison ivy would work well if you're okay with some bounce.
As far as sap goes, this is miles in front of the akimbo. My akimbo would completely lock up with a tiny bit of sap. I think all mechanicals crumble at the sight of sap. Maybe the Bulldogbone might be better but I haven't used it.

The akimbo is nice, but some of us work on lots of conifers and it’s not the best device for this trees
