the idea of an e2 is quite cool, maybe have the cargo bay be where your passengers could store their "short range" vehicles, and then go onto the main deck where there might be a some kiosks for food and water, and then quite large amount of seats. So I would see it more as a ferry, than a commercial spaceliner like the genesis
I picked up one of these ships, but tbh been second guessing myself. The lack of putting a turret in the C1 and the single entry point are just imo bad design choices. Crusader has awesome looking ships that all suffer from poor interior design. It’s just makes them shy of being hands down the best ship company in the verse.
I mean turrets aren't game changers and the turret is there but as a tractor beam as it is intended as a cargo/working variant personally I would like them to remover the cutty black turret and use that room for a bathroom and a rework of the interior so you can have a living space in the cockpit area and it would seem like a better small crew working ship Could make the wing guns or the top guns a sort of turret typically slaved to the pilot but made so they could be taken by the copilot Would be more enjoyable and role driving that way imo The real issue though it may not be that bad of one is the single entry I'll wait to complain but I would like an elevator similar to the corsair and for them to make them actually work also a docking collar/airlock is something that should be on every ship that isn't a fighter imo for when they add air as a resource otherwise you're basically venting massive amounts anytime you try to use the ship for its intended purpose
@@royrogers3624 sorry mate. Turrets are the single biggest pvp factor on most medium-sized ships. And yes, you can say that these ships are not primarily intended for pvp, but even if you don't go looking for a fight in this game one will eventually find you. Moreover, they are being created into the space that the multi-role cutlass and freelancer already occupy, so they should be able to do a little of everything. It's not like the C1 is more specialized than the Freelancer either, as it has far less cargo capacity. I'm worried that they'll succeed in making the little brother to the MSR just as pretty and pointless. A real shame. As an aside, they could easily make the turret for the cutty drop from the ceiling like in the vanguard or remotely operated by the co-pilot and create a space for a bathroom. Hopefully, they address that in a future rework. In the meantime, I'd think nearly everyone would prefer a turret their friend could operate over a bathroom that is purely decorative. And no, an option to let a co-pilot control guns already slaved to the pilot is a terrible idea. We have the Super Hornet and the Reliants to show this.
@Cain3697 are turrets useful on a cat? Yes should they be on every small ship they can Jam one into? No that's my point As for your suggestion about the cutty yes I could get behind that As for the c1 bit in the end it isnt a new ship its a ship intended to exist at release so essentially a "day one" but along with the they are going more for Lore and reality it wouldn't make sense for the company to just not compete for the most part For instance Ford doesn't stay out of crossovers just because ever other brand has one they make their own and compete just like misc etc some more specialized ship roles would make sense One company may be a civ and mil contractor (like crusader) so you shouldn't expect industrial ships like a competitor for a reclaimer so in the end the c1 makes sense whether or not it's for you is up to you it's all about preference
I don't see how drop pods would be difficult. Just make them as equipped components, buyable like missiles, and swap the bombs out for them. Padded interior, maybe even a seat if size constraints will allow, or, strapped in like a harness. Even a little storage, like 10k uSCU for things like meds, food, and ammo. Better still, multiple kinds of pods; some can carry people, others can carry supplies. For balance purposes, make a minimum drop altitude, say, 3000 meters, and all the way up to orbit. As for the C1, first ship I've pledged after my original starter, looks badass, looks fast, and looks like a great bunker runner. Not that I'm in a rush to get rid of my Cutty loaner anytime soon, of course.
I really hope they eventually let you customize your ships. I'd love to ditch my data center in my MSR and replace it with a massive turret or something
If the Hercules takes the role of the E2. Then I can see it using the cargo bay for extra passenger cabins. Or alternatively it could be a on loading and off loading for veichals. Like the ferry ⛴ that takes passengers from Dover to Calais (UK to France)
Cyclone, what about a G12 ? Also, thinking about it, if you want a drop ship you already have a ramp at the back and if jet packs become available just go off the ramp mid flight like a current day Hercules
I'm thinking I'm gonna go for a C1 in game. I've had a Freelancer for, well, it was the first ship I backed. So the Spirit C1's role is pretty much already covered for me, but I'd like to get one just to have it. It's pretty, but not something I'll shell out anymore cash for. The E1 though, that could be interesting as I don't have a passenger ship. I still don't need to spend the money, but it's another ship I'll consider getting in game.
These one entry ship designs really stop some good ships from being great. IMO, The docking collar should have been standardized to let every ship connect to each other. Especially considering the universal design precedence in the real world and other SciFi creations. Without it, it instantly makes ships like the E1 less viable for transporting VIP. Ex: the design naturally fits as a potential shuttle for rich BMM clientele but doesn’t fit into the hanger.
I am hopeful the Spirit can use modules to be set up for different purposes - like i could get a C1 and then load it up with a small spawn point and a small armory....hit enter too soon, damn that's disappointing. the Spirit would be awesome if it could be modular in some fashion by sacrificeing cargo space for modules.
IDK about its combat abilities, especially the c1 with no turret, but it should make for a good daily driver. If it handles as much better than the cutlass as the Star Runner compared to the connie, we are in for a treat. I mean it ain't that much bigger than a Banu Defender with more utility, so I would think a bunch of defender pilots should be looking at this as a potential upgrade, and you could buy another c1 for the price difference
The only one of the Spirit series that is original and of interest is the E1. Otherwise the C1 is probably an inferior but better looking version of the Cutty, and the A1 has potential as a small bomber that could occupy a useful and somewhat unique niche. The E1 is really the variant that actually is completely unique right now, and could unlock an entirely new gameplay loop.
Cyclone sized or smaller. Now I know the Roc is larger than the Cyclone but JUST by a small bit. I wonder if it'll still be able to stow one or do you think that option is completely off of the table? 🤔
It would be cool if you could replace the bombs with troop drop pods where you can fly over and drop people down without even landing. The way the bombs are set up makes that seem like it could potentially be possible. I just realized that he talks about that in the video.
Really hope CIG go back on their word about Nails and drop-pods not being an SC thing because of 'lore'. Seems a bit silly that we can get full battleships but not something as mundane as a drop pod, and it feels like a rule that will only get in the way of fun.
I'm still going to preach that CIG missed a huge opportunity to introduce a fully functional, small fleet, AWACS/Command and Control ship with this concept. It's such an obvious niche that is both needed and yet to be filled. The Terrapin and the Hornet Tracker do NOT count. They gather information and share it, but there is no full spectrum intelligence gathering through dedicated operators and the command and control function has to be separate from the source. Neither ship facilitates actual real time C and C. This leaves small fleet operators with a large gap in operational capability that makes no sense whatsoever considering the large impetus on Piracy and Militia activities being supported as career paths.
I have the Vulture from the entrepreneur pack but not sure if I will like it's gameplay since I plan to mostly do mining and trading. Wouldn't mind a little bomber so might upgrade it to the A1 since I have store credit
Sounds simple, but I worry about how physics would complicate things... would you need different types for different atmo or gravity strengths for example?
A Scorpius style 2 position remote turret that runs along that central partition would completely change the way I feel about this ship, as long as the C1 had it as well.

Unless this is a very very fast ship e.g. can out run fighters, the lack of a rear turret on the cargo version is going to be a big weakness.
not every thing should be fully able to defend themselves. There is a reason to higher security and be in safe space after all. If it's a well populated space there prob not going to be a lot of pirates/threats around.
@@likeorasgod Therefore limiting the usage of this vehicle in comparison to similar ones.
@@barnigranero5882 not all ships should be able to do all things. I am surprised they put guns on the passenger version. That would be like mounting a phalanx on a cruise ship or turrets on a 747
@@velocitymg With the way that CIG just advertised the Cargo Refactor as "Yay now it's easier and more profitable for pirates to take cargo", every cargo ship will need to be able to defend itself. That is not it being "able to do all things". That is a baisc requirement for it to be a functioning cargo ship!
the idea of an e2 is quite cool, maybe have the cargo bay be where your passengers could store their "short range" vehicles, and then go onto the main deck where there might be a some kiosks for food and water, and then quite large amount of seats. So I would see it more as a ferry, than a commercial spaceliner like the genesis
I can't wait for the Spirits! Especially the E1, but I also want a combat and/or exploration/recon version.
I mean turrets aren't game changers and the turret is there but as a tractor beam as it is intended as a cargo/working variant personally I would like them to remover the cutty black turret and use that room for a bathroom and a rework of the interior so you can have a living space in the cockpit area and it would seem like a better small crew working ship
Could make the wing guns or the top guns a sort of turret typically slaved to the pilot but made so they could be taken by the copilot
Would be more enjoyable and role driving that way imo
The real issue though it may not be that bad of one is the single entry I'll wait to complain but I would like an elevator similar to the corsair and for them to make them actually work also a docking collar/airlock is something that should be on every ship that isn't a fighter imo for when they add air as a resource otherwise you're basically venting massive amounts anytime you try to use the ship for its intended purpose
No that's my point
As for your suggestion about the cutty yes I could get behind that
As for the c1 bit in the end it isnt a new ship its a ship intended to exist at release so essentially a "day one" but along with the they are going more for Lore and reality it wouldn't make sense for the company to just not compete for the most part
For instance Ford doesn't stay out of crossovers just because ever other brand has one they make their own and compete just like misc etc some more specialized ship roles would make sense
One company may be a civ and mil contractor (like crusader) so you shouldn't expect industrial ships like a competitor for a reclaimer so in the end the c1 makes sense whether or not it's for you is up to you it's all about preference
@@royrogers3624 it’s suppose to sit in a class with the lancer and cutty yet it’s only got speed over them.
@Greg's bagels yea that's what competition means if it was better in every way it wouldn't be a competition
New ship design with no docking collar or secondary exit of any sort. Way to listen to the fans CIG.
I really hope they eventually let you customize your ships. I'd love to ditch my data center in my MSR and replace it with a massive turret or something
The A1 makes me think about whether they will ever add bomber functions to the Eclipse.
The A1 would be perfect for the "ODST" pods called nails in the SC lore.
That size increase is to much, it at the max end of a medium pad. This needs a component increase. This is only 10 meters short of the msr.
G12 is WAAAAAY bigger. NO chance.
Thanks for the update. We know what's best from the Law of the West.
These one entry ship designs really stop some good ships from being great. IMO, The docking collar should have been standardized to let every ship connect to each other. Especially considering the universal design precedence in the real world and other SciFi creations. Without it, it instantly makes ships like the E1 less viable for transporting VIP. Ex: the design naturally fits as a potential shuttle for rich BMM clientele but doesn’t fit into the hanger.
ya, the Freelancer really set the bar on this one.
I want to be able to replace the bombs with size 4 or 5 mussel racks, would be cool to see it as a torpedo bomber with very large torpedo capacity
No BS...please keep the videos coming!
Ever hear of the 600i touring about the size of c2. Is going to be vip transport
Cyclone sized or smaller. Now I know the Roc is larger than the Cyclone but JUST by a small bit. I wonder if it'll still be able to stow one or do you think that option is completely off of the table? 🤔
I think its reasonable to assume so.
after it inevitably grows in development, yeah
i really wish want to replace the bomb with missiles, the bomber is such a bad ass looking ship!
I love the ships artwork its so beautiful... and it would be dope if they recreate a normandy blue and white ship in the game.
Nah, Normandy 2.0 (yellow) for the win!
Imagine asking for a ride back to an outpost and someone picks you up in a first class luxury jet
I'd love a Spirit Dropship Variant; I'm going to hold out hope for an Aegis type ship that fills the role of the Cutty/Spirit.
It would be cool if you could replace the bombs with troop drop pods where you can fly over and drop people down without even landing. The way the bombs are set up makes that seem like it could potentially be possible. I just realized that he talks about that in the video.
once it comes out i’m booking a ride on the E1
Really hope CIG go back on their word about Nails and drop-pods not being an SC thing because of 'lore'. Seems a bit silly that we can get full battleships but not something as mundane as a drop pod, and it feels like a rule that will only get in the way of fun.
Love the spirit but don't like that they removed all of the cargo on the E1. So passenger's are not allowed to carry luggage?
They can change it don't loose hope, cutlass blue and red have their Scu so why not the A1 and E1
48SCU is just jokingly small for a TWO person ship supposedly being in the same class as a Freelancer. I was hoping that was a mistake :(
M1 would be interesting as a drop ship alone.
I took one glance at the ship on the thumbnail and thought: it looks vaguely like an eagle or imperial eagle mixed with a krait/krait mk 2
The drop pod variant you mentioned would be too sick for SC. Then the predator and the valk would get 0 use.
Well they’re good looking.
Cant wait for them to release
I have the Vulture from the entrepreneur pack but not sure if I will like it's gameplay since I plan to mostly do mining and trading. Wouldn't mind a little bomber so might upgrade it to the A1 since I have store credit
no care for these ships at all but i was just glad to se LoW make a vid.. been awhile
i would have got it if c1 fit an ursa rover but might aswell keep the cutty
I hope it can carry a ROC because I hope to have this be a cutlass replacement
Every time I say to myself I'm done buying ships, CIG goes and builds something that makes me drool. Now I want an E1... My wallet hates me.
anyone knows if the spirit A1 will have a weapon rack ?
your voice is perfect for these video's!. you could sell me my own liver :3
I want the E1 (fancy ?) pretty bad but I know the C1 will be more useful
Titan suit drop ship. I'd have to pick up an A1.
Could you do a video on the reclaimer?
Stealth recon or tactical insertion?
wish they had odst style drop pods for this thing
SO.. No Roc in the C1??
So Would C1 Spirit be able to store a G12 vehicle?
Why do I get first order star wars vibes from this
If it has room to fits a Fury will sit.
I wanna know if the tractor beam can be used defensively. What I mean is can I throw a player or npc with it.
I would love to be able to fit even a ptv in the a1 dont want to have to settle on the c1 and lose that manned turret
I can’t see any reason that this ship would actually be designed without a docking ring
CIG need parachutes that idea would would work
Sounds simple, but I worry about how physics would complicate things... would you need different types for different atmo or gravity strengths for example?
If I could fit a Ursa Rover in it, I'll be very happy.
I'm getting Turian vibes.
Do we have a confirmed release date for it?
Will there be another concept sale?
instead of drop pods, the mech suits being dropped
It's a Variant not a Pipe Dream.
D1
I don't see any use for this ship in my fleet, straight pass for me.
A Scorpius style 2 position remote turret that runs along that central partition would completely change the way I feel about this ship, as long as the C1 had it as well.
Fastest SUV in the galaxy
I lost quite some interest the moment they made it bigger.
Poor mans MSR
such beauties
+ it looks great.
- a freelancer is better at almost everything...
