Given how many bike brands have managed to figure out how to make a hole in the downtube to stick a e bike battery it's a bit of a joke that they class it as a challenge to fit snacks in there!!
I have mine now for two years and it’s still my favorite bike ever. Climbs like an absolute legend for such a long travel bike. And downhill, forget about your old times. This thing is so effing fast in gravity situations that if you try to control it, it wants to leave you behind. But if you let the bike do it’s thing in the tech, it will glide you to glory baby. Love this bike 🔥
@@barrakingbeatz7794 they looks similar because of the shock orientation ( vertical mounted) but in the case of trek's suspension the abp yes its better on downhills also it will pedal better because of the advanced custom shock but all modern 29er is now comfortable to climb because of the progress geo.

Had ordert a Remedy 8 a few weeks back at my local Trek dealer. As soon as i saw the Slash 8 i called them and switched my order to a Slash 8. Really exited to see how it will handle compared to my Remedy 9.7.
I like the little additions that should be standard on all bikes like downtube storage and full downtube protection. I hate the knock block but I like that they made it optional so there is that. All of that said the price is astronomical considering the amount of crap you'll probably replace on day 1.

Looking at the Geo, at 5'10" I might opt for the smaller M/L. Still 1242mm wheelbase and over 470mm reach (In High Setting) which I feel would pair better with the less steep seat tube for my preferences.
I've seen a dude that had bad luck with 2 Trek Slash frames the headtube failed where headset sit, so fork ould go back and forth. I hope people won't have to deal with this. Probably we're faulty or engeneering mistake, I don't know. But I know my bike is robust. 👌
I watched Vital MTBs review of this bike and their version which also is the $8000 one only has the GX Eagle drivetrain (which my entery level Slash 8 has). Interesting.
I must have had a different geometry teacher than these bike engineers... there is no way that seat tube is anywhere close to 75 degrees. Just cutting to the Norco you can see that is significantly steeper.
As Jack said the effective seat tube angle is the important measurement. It's the angle of the seat relative to the bottom bracket while sitting on the bike.
Jack Falcon the problem is the effective STA is almost meaningless in the real world. It works fine for someone with short legs but anyone with longer legs will be sitting on their tire.
Looks like the dropper post insertion is still pretty shallow? Was the 1 thing on a demo bike that really stood out as well behind other brands i demo'd...

$8000 XO1 build is 32 lbs and that's light? An aluminum XT build must weigh in the neighborhood of 34 lbs. I had a Trek session that weighed that much. I'll keep my 29 lb Remedy 9 29er. It's not as long, low and slack, but still rails plenty good.

NO ONE would stay with a bike whose frame broke 5 times. No one. I have not heard of a manufacturing problem/design flaw with the Slash and I keep up with this stuff. (All carbon frames from all manufacturers will fracture in certain circumstances). Just fishing but my guess is you may have fractured a frame through some extra ordinary impact and you have a beef with Trek.
Pete West I’m not sure why it delated. I’ll admit that this bloke hadn’t broke them all in the down tube. I think one was on the lower shock mount and one was under the head tube. He kept getting treks because he worked at the shop.
Pete West i definitely do not have beef with trek. There bikes are great to ride and there warranty is fantastic. I dont think manufacturing issues are a problem, I just dont think the olcv carbon used in slashes is strong enough for the purpose of the bike

I originally wanted a santa cruz nomad, but after further research, I think this is the best bike for me, does it ride well in tech? I crashed jumping and broke my collarbone wrist and elboe so I'm taking. A break from that for a while, I have decided to go with the capra shred, just because the large amount of travel will help alot in rock gardens and roots
Nothing has changed about this bike in 10 years and they still overprice it. I'm glad they copied Specialized's snack storage, that feature is really helpful.

The Slash is a BEAST. I am new to modern bikes so can someone tell me why it is EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS? Isn't it and every other modern bike still made in China? Because carbon? Carbon fiber is nothing new anymore and just like most other materials is fairly cheap to make. But hey if you have this kind of money to throw at a bike there are only a handful that are just as good for its category.
Save up to $3k. Most full squish at that price range are pretty good spec like Ibis Ripmo AF with Deore groupset, Canyon Spectral with GX/NX combo, and Commencal Meta

One thing that's kinda hard to see in video though, the box on this, especially the opening, is a LOT smaller than a swat box on the specialized

im 5'11, rather slim build, and I went L. Simply coz im all 65% legs and need longer dropper
improved knock block and a threaded bb...hell yes. i hope they carry it over to the fuel ex for next year. i just don't need that travel on the slash.

Might be referring to the effective seat tube angle? That would be steeper than it is visually.
You need to draw a imaginary line from the bottom bracket to the middle of the seat in the fully extended position to get the effective seat angle.
