For others getting overwhelming at first, the solution I found was trying to figure out by myself how the add-on works before seeing the tutorials. Then when you see the tutorials you will get a lot of "look at that, that feature is awesome". In the end, everything in the add-on kind of make sense for most projects and are useful somehow.
I may add, that IMO best way to learn the addon I getting the hair presets from library and just studying how they were builid - subSystem by subSystem - deformer by deformer. Bunch of new features were added to HT when I was having difficulty creating some of the hairstyles. So yes, most of the features have some purpose, even if not always useful.
@@bartoszstyperek6306 Hello Bastosz, thanks for the suggestion. I had an old version of the Library, so I just got finalized hairs for some reason. In the new one (using the view receipt trick to access to it) I can see the whole system. Very nice.
@@mrgonuts Have you seen the online docs - joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/ ? Also try joining discord- discord.gg/cxZDbqH I can help you in there.
@@mrgonuts It has a learning curve, but it worth the while. Just give it some time. It took me near a week of using it every day being able to do anything decent from scratch. After one moth I can do any kind of hair style with it.
Previously I asked you for hair tool for new hair system, which was not incorporated to new hair system. But now you did to create quality hair style with lot of varieties 🙏😊
You need to add functionality that allows to rotat UV regions. I have texture where hair-shapes aligns not only vertical but horizontal. I think not only I have this case
Hi there. I was trying to follow these steps and I keep getting error on Delete Strands Filter Tag. It keep saying 'Missing Deformer Node!'. Any tips on how to get around this? Thanks
Can you post the exact error on - discord.gg/cxZDbqH - HTool support channel? Without more detail, I can only suggest trying to update addon - using build in auto-updater: joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/#updating
try removing - 'surface deform' modifier (it is useful for deforming hair with source mesh, but usually it is not needed and it tends to mess up the bake)
can you create a video on creating hair texture and baking with this tool? i was using that but facing some issues, when i adjusting the settings of 1st hair mesh the settings affects all the mesh. it was looking like child is following the parent. what was this why this was happening?
Are there any channels that show how to add physics or to export to UE5 for physics. Btw awesome work dude. It’s amazing a solo-dev (with Blender) has made probably the best groom-tool available.
Do you have any suggestion on when to use which methods, I figured for women hair it is easier tu use strands from grid surfaces, but I have the feeling I can't layer properly with this method and with the strands generator its hard to get great result unless its for puffy haircuts usually men's haircuts. Am I wrong?
no, you are right. Curves from grid are great for woman/longer hairstyles - for layers effect, all I do is add - joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/main_workflows/hair_system/#push-out . You could create long hair with 'strand generator' but handling intersections is pain, and blender build in strand interpolation node doesn not give too good results on longer hair (unfortunately I cant change and make my own node, since geo nodes lack necessary features)
Thank you@@bartoszstyperek6306 great addon! Also may I ask how you keep a nice tilt with the least interpenetrations. I figured I align the parent subsystem to surface and for some variation the child subsystem to parent is cool, but I get a lot of interpenetrations. Again thanks a lot!
@15:23 edit mode isn't available for me here, only Object mode & Sculpt mode. Any idea as to why I can't access Edit mode with the Scalp_curve selected?
Hey, I think I encountered a problem. I generated hair on the animated scalp and then converted the hair to sculptable. But I found that the hair would no longer follow the movement of the scalp after conversion. Is there any scanning solution?
hi, for animated hair (after converting curves to mesh) you could use HTool rigging/skining tools - joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_animation/. This will make it so that hair will follow head, and u can have some physics added on top of it.
yes, see this vid -ua-cam.com/video/5GqfOdcza4o/v-deo.htmlsi=V6tGyim-kOY5eaEV , and docs : joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/texture_baking/
Usually you just shift + click. But if there are multiple objects under cursor - you can hold alt + click too - this will allow you to pick cursor under cursor.
I recorded this like 3-4 times, to make it as short as possible. You can always speed this up 1.75x to make it into 20 mins. I do not think it can be any faster (unless i made timelapse - but then you would not learn anything from it)

Thank you! The best of the best! EPIC WORK!
Finally! Thank you, man.
Love your tool!!
Be nice for another update, as everything is very different layout again.
new basics video is on the way.
Thank you very much for this tutorial learned a lot

you could try the "Get previous version" in addon preferences. 3.3.0 gave me that error, but 3.2.0 works on Blender 3.6.1
For some reason when I bake the subsystems the strands go all over the place and I can't comb them back. Any idea why that happens?

when I transfer hair system to base mesh my scene crashes and it loses the drawn guides.. do you by chance know why it behaves like that? Thank you!

Are you on latest blender 3.6? Previous blender does not support editing curves. I assume you used : Transfer Hair System -> To empty curve.
Ahh, yea that worked, I was on 3.4. Appreciate it!

Can you use the other texture maps you can bake from hair tool? Like the normal and root maps.

37 minutes of talk! Why? 5 minutes was enough for it
Why do you want to prolong everything?
