Mr. Pizza was all over LA for awhile. I loved their Potato Gold pizza. They pulled out of America, but the operator of the KTown franchise bought out the location and now has two Korea Town Pizza Company restaurants which have a similar menu. So if you want this Pizza in the US, come to LA!
are they gone? there was a few, even one in little tokoyo.
@@clyde19788 yeah they all closed quite awhile ago. But the Korea Town Pizza Company has a lot of the old Mr Pizza menu still.
I’m gonna stick with pepperoni
Strange. The Pizza Company is a brand originally from Thailand, i just looked it up, and they don't mention they have US branches as well.
@@Food_travel_auto_fun_89 I'm sure there are a lot of unrelated places with the local trademark "Pizza Company"
Korea did to pizza what Americans did to sushi
And tbh Americans have a certain palette that they go for, so they did the same to Italians
Honestly, this is just part of what happens as a dish becomes popular in a place different from its origin. "Italian" food in America is not the same as Italian in Italy. Korean food has adopted foods from its neighbors as well, and adapted them for the Korean palate (e.g., jjajangmyeon, bulgogi, Korean fried chicken). Dishes evolve over time; there is no purity in cuisine.
U haven’t seen Taiwanese pizza lol
And both things are good, actually
Spot on.
When I first had pizza in Korea (it was Dominos pizza but radically different than in the US), I said this isn't pizza. The pizza there tend to be sweeter and savory without much saltiness. And they definitely use less cheese, making it less greasy. It was more comparable to a fancy pastry than a pizza. With that said, it was f'ing tasty.
Yup, first pizza I had in SK was a Pizza Hut beef bulgogi pizza with cheese-stuffed crust
It wasn’t like any pizza I’ve ever had, but it was marvelous
"The pizza there tend to be sweeter and savory without much saltiness.", "And they definitely use less cheese, making it less greasy."
... You just described PIZZA, and not American abomination.
it's closer to a Wähe or Quiche than a pizza, I don't consider this pizza and neither shoul the koreans!
You can tell he was thinking "yeah that's not Pizza" 😉😆
In east asia, particularly Japan and Korea; potatoes, corn, mayo, shrimp have been pretty regular toppings for fast food pizza chains like pizza hut - as well as the aforementioned toppings on the video. I'd eat corn, ham, potato mayo pizza with my family back when I lived in Japan 16 or so years ago.
Its surprisingly good.
We don’t learn much unfortunately in this vid, more like a plain add for that pizza chain
Korean pizza taste and the realism of rolling out a new product for a national chain
Love his energy.
I hate it. He's a typical rude east coast w*panelli.
This would be so much more informative on anywhere but vice
😂😂😂
if you're in Orange County, CA, Pala/Love Letter in HMart has pretty good offerings that mimic what was shown in this video :)
Ugh there used to be a Korean pizza place in downtown Vancouver. It was so good, with corn and potato chunks but it looked like it closed down recently. What a shame!
pizza maru is still open in coquitlam!
I had a Korean pizza chain in West End, Vancouver. Shrimp, bulgogi, with a sugary sweet ranch sauce. It was not tasty and off putting, but I absolutely had to try it. 🤣
At the end it just looks like a DiGiorno's pizza
Korea's questionable love for corn in all foods was the worst thing i experienced in the country during my 2 years living there
Yea, I honestly hate corn in anything. I do like eating it by itself on a cob however, steamed. It's tasty, but not in food
dude, this. i'm a korean american, and i hate seeing corn everywhere when i go to restaurants in la koreatown.
It's like this all over asia....
@@danieljhong why is that a thing? i personally like corn and theres definitely dishes that corn goes well with, but this "put it in everything" thing is kinda weird
@@slXD100 i have no idea. if i had to guess koreans consider corn somewhat exotic as there are not many korean dishes with corn. so anything remotely foreign/exotic, corn goes in.
3:40 love homie critiquing haha
The Mr. Pizza chain must of paid this guy an exorbant amount of money to make an appearance and make them a pizza lol
i like "yesterday's meat loaf" on my pizza, mmk. i found it out. it's amazing. y'all bein' like me as a pizzaiolo and experimenting with the ordering of layers.
I ❤ this show glad it came on viceland t.v. when it did 👏🏻🍕
IF you wanna see experimental pizza, where you really need to go to is Taiwan, where anything goes, and Dominos+ Pizza Hut are the most experimental places ever
What an amazing opportunity for you!
I forgot his name, since it's been a while. Glad to see him doing new episodes again. But you could tell he was just being nice, when he knew that pizza was absolutely trash lol.
Frank Pinello! Dudes a pizza pimp.
Oh yum Korean 🍕😍😋
Hash brown on pizza sounds genius!
theyre actually making good pizza in Korea, how awesome!!!
Living in Korea for a year, I was initially hesitant to give their unique style of pizza a try. However, it didn't take long before I was completely won over.
"Mr Pizza: Ladies First" - Then why isn't it Mrs Pizza? Oh Ms Pizza.
How can a pizza from SK be truly complete without a kimchi topping?
Just threw up in my mouth …yech
Im Korean and that sounds nasty
YUMMY!
Sweet potato pizza is still one of my all time favorite pizzas
Pizza in South Korea is expensive and it’s ridiculous the size is crazy small a medium looks small and a large looks like a medium as a Korean American I recommend going to Costco Korea the pizza are actually American size large and cheap
That dude beard is perfect 😂
NEW PIZZA SHOW?!?!?!?!?
Doesn't seem that unusual to me. We've got pizzerias who have pizzas like that here in Latvia. There's even a burger meatball pizza..
We need some Italians to fly out and try. Ha😂
imagina se vierem pro brasil
I want a video about Swedish pizza
Pizza school is my go to pizza. 👍
Mr pizza is not really popular in South Korea it is more of a blurb
I tried this a few years ago, it was in Bangkok, I remember that it was extremely weirdly tasting for a "foreigner" :)) Also, it was very expensive!
FRANK IS BACK!!!!! THE 🐐 HAS RETURNED!!!!!!!
i want to be a pizza researcher
ngl the best pizza in seoul is detroit style. the nyc style is definitely lacking in comparison
Korean pizza got to be the best 👌
Have I been pronouncing "mozzarella" wrong my entire life
Mr. Pizza 🍕 is known as midrange affordable pizza. it's not bad, but it's also not top-quality pizza.
I would go for Domino Pizza.
bruh i'd killl for a bulgogi pizza all that mushrooms
Isn't it ironic that Americans have opinions about pizza when Italians are actually quiet?
well italians don't usually intentionally go on an american channel about an italian-american pizza chef teaching NY style pizza in korea, it's geared towards the american audience yk
Corn, hashbrown, sweet potato, mayo, shrimp are all superior on pizza than pineapple
What is pizza? I think there are 4 things that are required for a pizza, for it even to qualify AS a pizza. Dough, sauce, cheese and it is tossed or stretched to size. Some would say only tomato sauce, but alfredo is popular as a white pizza, yet I digress. I think a real pizza always has wheat dough stretched to size, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. If those 3 things aren't on the pie, it's not really pizza, it's something else. Like deep dish. It isn't really pizza, it's a pizza flavored casserole.
and what if you have a thin crust and just use swiss cheese instead of say mozzarella? i think pizza should be made around the basic foundations, but pretty much everything outside of naples wouldn't be considered proper pizza for the people of naples. that being said, there should be some consistency at least when it comes to the dough, the rest is style and preference
You know that in China, there are durian pizzas
Every time someone complains about Hawaiian pizza, I should show them this video.
hawaiian pizza is nothing to complain though. ham and pineapple are a match made in heaven and are amazing on a pizza! but what was shown in this vid is more of a french quiche varian or a swiss Wähe.
I don’t want potatoes anywhere near my pizza.
You can get potato pizza in Italy. Very common in Rome. Doesn't usually have sauce or cheese, but sometimes can have a white sauce instead of tomato.
If it's not Grande (TM) cheese it ain't pizza
Pizza was unironically one of my favorite meals when I traveled around Korea.
Sweet fries on pizza is ecstacy in a slice lol
good idea to try new, unexpected ingredients on pizza. a home cook could do this, too
everyone yucks on how Asia does Pizza, but I love em (cept the seafood stuff in Pizza toppings)
Lol Anchovies have been a thing on Pizza for ages.
Connecticut even does clam pizza
well this isn't pizza, i think that's the main issue here, if anything it's a quiche or similar to a quiche, not a pizza though. different styles and flavour combinations are a thing everywhere, but you gotta stick to at least some of the fundamnetals if you want to call it a pizza.
calling these 'pizzas' is a crime. Disgusting. And I am Korean.
They must have paid him a good amount. Pizza in Korea is generally not very good. There are some legit places, to be sure, mostly in Seoul or Busan, but Mr Pizza is definitely not good, nor are any of the biggest chains.
Bring this to America so I can get fat please.
these experimental pizzas are no joke one of them blew off my uncle's legs when he was stationed in korea
He's s bit ethnocentric
He's an East Coast W*panelli. Of course he thinks New York slice with gravy is the greatest thing ever.
Mr Pizza is just trash. I remember goin to their buffet. It felt like someone had to put me out of my misery asap.
taiwan pizzas are weird asf though by comparisom lol
Yup! And that's why they don't expand outside of the country lol
pizza hut and dominos make the weirdest ones, some local shops make some kinda kid friendly junk, then there are many serious pizza shops going for something authentically new york or neapolitan. at least in taipei.
You can't talk about Mr. Pizza without seeing this first: ua-cam.com/video/KiLA6Bk_ivs/v-deo.html
The guy in the beginning saying he has to play by a rule book is lying. Most pizza makers in the US are boring old school pizza and wont even try to Innovate.
said who... lol 😂
Y'all actin like Brazil wasn't the first to do it. Bruh we got Mashed Potatoes on our pizzas thank you very much.
How do you know what country was the first to do anything?
Gross beef son
What a sad looking 'pizza'...
My Italiana Nonna (Grandma) used to say " if it is circular is not Pizza Ragazzo Pizza is always square⬜"
I hate korean pizza, it's WAY too sweet
Don’t let Italians see this
or do, its time for italians to accept the fact that there are better versions of their shitty glorified flammkuchen. also any random chinese kid can cook better noodles. i never understood italians being all elitist over their mediocre cuisine.
Lovely: an American and a Korean who both talk about pizza Greetings from Italy the only place where pizza was invented. That Korean pizza look to me more of a frittata, no offense, just telling the truth.
Italian pizza is disgusting anyways
@@notreallyhim
@@marcomorosino6081 yeah that is definitely closer to a Quiche or swiss Wähe than Pizza, totally agree with you. but let's not pretend that Pizza in italy outside of naples isn't different from the original, it very much is. also, it's a bit hypocritical of italians to criticize on the toppings when you put processed low quality hotdogs on your pizza, and fries. I think fries on a pizza can actually be great but at least put a matching sauce on it or something to dip it in.. otherwise that's just madness.
@@slXD100 It not just about the toppings, is the entire process and the fresh local ingredients that make a food a special and unique food. Some pizzeria owned by Turkish people put hot dogs and French fries on a pizza, that doesn't mean is a good service to a real simple and delicious traditional food. Here in Italy we different kind of pizzas with regional twists, all traditional. We have: pizza napoletana, pizza siciliana, pizza romana and many more local versions of it. Said that enjoy whatever food you like the most but I am not pretending to cook the right recipe of the New England Clam Chowder, just saying.
@@marcomorosino6081 i know what you mean, but a lot of pizzerias in america do use fresh ignredients and mostly just import the tomatoes from italy, but pretty much every pizzeria imports their tomatoes.
i respect and love italian pizzas but i didnt mean turks with fries and hotdogs "würstel e patatine". pineapple pizza is actually really tasty and just objectively and subjectively it goes well with the combination of pizza, ham and pinapple go great together especially in addition with tomato sauce. if you use good quality ingredients it's amazing and i really dont understand italians going crazy about it, if it was something that doesn't match well i'd understand but in this case.. it does. it's also quite hyporitical as italians enjoy different types of cuisine in their own country which are adjusted/created for their specific palate. cheers
Listening to new yawkers babble on about pizza can be so tiresome.
that aint pizza...
absolutely discussing... I hate pizzas in Korea even donimos suck here
Thats pure sin on the holy spirit of pizza
🤌🤌🤌
This is not PIZZA. It's Domino's California Kitchen stoner bogus frat boy food.
Mr. Pizza looks like crappy stuff. Too many toppings, no simplicity.
I've lived in Korea for 20 years. They have the worst pizza I've ever tasted. Mr. Pizza is a chain that sucks, even Pizza School is better.
FREE PALESTINE
More hipster bs from vice lol. They sold out hard
'Keepin it real' made them bankrupt
the pizza in South Korea is largely DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!
Yous never had it. Its delicious.
South Korea racism against browns video is a good idea
Huh??
Probably means why they banned Indian men in groups from clubs/bars lol
The victim mentality that Indian people holds.. So insane
India was voted as the most racist country in the world based on survey
I will never travel to India on how they treat Black people
India was voted as the most racist country
Glad to see frank get his cheddar. But why promote this “cultural appropriation”?Everyone knows us leftists would be up in arms if some guy in Italy named himself mr kimchi and was using European ingredients to make kimbop. As a white woman that voted for Bernie Sanders, and who’s adopted a Chinese super baby (who’s a karate type btw) I would never dare even let him look at pizza. It’s against my morals, which are superior to all others. It’s strictly an ethnic diet of seaweed and karate lessons for him.
Here we go… Korea is probably the most western influenced country in Asia. If you didn’t know, a lot of Asians are actually lactose intolerant so pizza being popular in Korea is already a win. If you want to make money off of a demographic you have to be different. It’s not cultural appropriation.it’s food. It’s just traditional pizza but it’s pizza. You don’t even wanna see how we do pizza in Taiwan lol. Have a good mf day 😂🎉
Whyt conservatives are the most sensitive people on earth
@@slee2695
I agree. We Bernie voters need to stick together and shame them as much as possible.
@@tainanking you do realize that is a troll text? and a quite funny one at it. either way, this isn't pizza, this is more of a mix between quiche or a swiss Wähe than pizza.
