Not to be overly dramatic, but what I believe we are seeing from the fandom right now is just the second stage of the grieving process for the “death” of their love for the franchise. I went through this hard after TLJ. Lucasfilm/Disney should be VERY worried because if the rest of the fandom follows the same path that I took, they are fast approaching “acceptance”. Acceptance= apathy; Apathy = the eventual end of the financial success of the brand=death of the brand.

Thank you thank you guys! 🙏 I'm a relitively new listener but cards on table straight up, I'm enjoying the Acolyte - agree there are some flaws, but it's a pretty decent show in against all of the offerings (I was also less a fan of the story of the Ashoka). Overall I'm enjoyable exploring this show and what it's bringing up. However, I got really dragged down in all the surrounding noise on social media it kinda bummed me out as a fan - it was making me enjoy things less or feel guilty for enjoying the show being attacked as not being a true fan when I've tried to talk about stuff in the show. Listening to this was so refreshing to actually talk not only about this situation ciritcally but also get to talk about Acolyte and what its presenting. I agree so much it hurts with you about digging into the real detail in there stuff about the Jedi, things being presented in ep3, I wanna explore this as it feel like we get to dig under the skin of the Jedi perhaps precursour to Plagus the Wise and all that. And also feels like alot of people aren't actually watching it/seeing what they want to see - but be keen on what your guys have to say after we get through the whole show.
But yeah, just thanks guys - I'm loving your attitude to just cutting through it, letting those who don't enjoy don't enjoy and visa vera, and talking about the story! Feels like it's given me a go to to listen to now after each ep (Also Ep4 is great - just finished it before listening to this!)
I absolutely do think that Disney Star Wars has made Anakin irrelevant. I respect Jason’s view, but i respectfully keep to my own.
I don’t think it should be possible for any force user to create life. It should be reserved for the Force itself. And Rey doe make Anakin’s actions in ROTJ irrelevant because he doesn’t defeat the Sith or bring balance to the force because until the Sith are completely destroyed George said that there can be no balance.
I also hate that The Acolyte is making the Jedi into villains, not compromised or blinded to evil as they were in the prequels, but straight up A-holes.
I’m fine with the acolyte hating the Jedi and viewing them as the bad guys, but why did the show runner need to actually vilify them for real?
Anakin felt that the Jedi were evil in ROTS. But George didn’t actually depict them doing such bad things that they can’t live with themselves that they felt suicide was a valid price of redemption.
Why must Disney Star Wars destroy our heroes? Han became a dead-beat dad that failed to keep his marriage together, lost his ship, and ended up worse off than when we met him in ANH.
Luke became a recluse refusing to help others and tried to kill his nephew. Obi-Wan couldn’t walk around a laser gate for goodness sake!
And now the Jedi are the bad guys. Enough already!

Honestly, i don’t think Disney Star Wars is creating many more fans.
My friend's kids don’t watch any of the Disney+ shows and the Sequel trilogy was just another set of films the older kids saw and then moved on from. They didn’t buy the toys, they didn’t rewatch the movies over and over again the way we did when the prequels were released on DVD. Marvel is their nostalgia. Ironman, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor.
I have to disagree. It is making new fans. I was somewhat on the outside as a fan before but what set the fire ablaze for me was Ashoka. Immediately went down the Rebels rabbit hole afterwards and now I’m all in and so is my six year old son. We have bought WAY too many lightsaber toys, Micro Galaxy Squadron and sought out older toys as well. That is a result of Disney’ efforts.
@@danielclare7717 I didn’t say Disney SW wasn’t creating any new fans, just not many of them. Certainly not as many compared to the fans created by George Lucas’ two trilogies. I’m glad you liked Ahsoka though. While I may have found it lacking I’m glad it helped you take your first step into a larger world.🙂
I was the one who really knew what Star Wars was … who actually knew this world, because there’s a lot to it. The Force, for example, nobody understood the Force. The sequels did not capture an audience of children like the prequels and OT did, they will absolutely NOT have the resurgence that the prequels did. This generation of kids "Star Wars" was the MCU.
The prequels had so many books and video games about its era and a very popular animated series. What content does the sequel trilogy have for its era? The canceled Resistance show?
Jedi survivor/fallen order are some of the best star wars games ever made. I only picked up a couple Vader comics but there seems to be a ton of print material released in the past 10 years as well. Also current star wars kids are getting countless high budget TV shows in between movies. You could be right in the end but we won't know for many years...5 years after rots the prequels were still heavily memed on by old fans
The Force Awakens is already starting to experience a bit of a nostalgic resurgence

@@TFedits85 I watch just about every reaction to SW here on youtube, from people who aren't wrapped up in echo chamber hate. I got wrapped up in prequel hate myself. This is just history repeating itself. GRANTED, a lot kids today do have shorter attention spans and only care about youtube shorts, but they're there. My daughter (who loves Rey) is one of them. Just wait..

Lately I’ve been catching up on Rebels, and I’m getting back to reading the classic Thrawn trilogy books.

Like what you want to like about the ideas FJ. But the execution is so so so bad it takes away from the experience of the show.
In Revenge of the Sith novel, Mace Windu had a moment of realization that he was attached to the Republic. Quite a crazy concept.

Does nobody hear that the song is clearly AI generated? The flat compression on all the instruments, the auto-tuned vocals, the weird pronunciation on some words and the almost non-existing meter in the lyrics are tell-tale signs. Weird times are ahead of us. As an amateur musician myself, I find it a bit of a stretch to say "I wrote a song", when you only pasted lyrics into Suno AI: You only wrote the lyrics. I believe an AI song should be labeled as such. I hope we don't have to listen to a new prompt engineered song now every week.

I do not care for ashoka
The Ashoka show needed a season director .I'm sorry Dave should not have been that show director. Also Ashoka needed longer episodes that is about an hour long.Also more episodes should have been given to them to fully tell that story.Ashoka failed because Disney/LF made alot of bad creative decisions.
There’s a lot of complexity related to recent vitriol in the overall community but one thing that stands as a fairly strong influence is the mass export into all sectors of society if the culture war. It’s bled a purity test of how a certain group approves or disapproves of what is acceptable or not. In particular, the far right has mass influenced the aggrandizing of anger towards anything they disagree with as woke, as a far left attempt to destroy their subjective view of reality. It was specifically directed towards Disney by Ron Desantis is response to their verbal disagreement of his focus in Florida schools. What we are seeing in the fandom is this influence; it’s in everything now. If something appears in any way like the far right doesn’t not like, it is labeled as woke and quickly attacked with significant anger and vitriol irregardless of anything else; fact or not.
As a society, we have all been influenced by this. Everything comes under this scrutiny now because the far right has to maintain anger to maintain its focus of control. Star Wars has been caught in this now, and unfortunately, this is never going to change. As long as the internet and social media exist, if a finger is pointed towards what some in that group disagree with, their will be anger, there will be attacks and their will be exactly what is being seen right now against new shows, movies, games, etc.
Everything has been changed by this. It’s tragic to say the least but it’s not going away and the fan base will either adjust to it, or will be overrun and destroyed by it.

Lucasfilm should let talented and creative people like him work for them, and I’m sure we’d get something much better for the lesbian chant than the spectacularly cringey ‘The power of one, the power of two, the power of manyyyyy…’ 🙄 Seriously, that scene rivals even the Leia chase and Obi-Wan and the laser gate scenes in its cringiness and stupidity.
I fell asleep trying to watch the acolyte. It’s not the “agenda” they are pushing, it’s just a terribly poorly written and directed show. I can’t tell how good or bad the actors are because they have nothing to work with.
