I solo tanked from 1-9 over the weekend. I didn't play Friday though. 5-7 was a bit of a struggle just due to finding commissions that I could do or them not working. 7-9 was a breeze once a found a near perfect solo grind spot with only a out 30 secs of downtime. It's also a great glint and droppings farm too.
Been tanking for 4 weekends and still learned shit. I was one of the people that wrote off that cross strike attack, but I may try it out again. Thanks buddy!
Great guide, comma very concise, informative, and clear. Due to the size it was very easy to watch on a large screen TV as well and still see the ability descriptions. Moar class guides plz!
@@zeyosin1771 indeed. Will be interesting to see how it plays out in taunt swap situations when taunt does not put you to the top of the threat meter and the two tanks are not first and second in threat.
Watching this video, I'm sort of trying to think about how a Tank would function as full DPS I believe the framework is there same with Cleric and Bard to actually go for damage as a support. It's got Me curious. What I'd like to see is, Full damage support should not be able to compete with actual DPS classes in terms of sheer DPS. Maybe 70-80 % of what a real DPS can do. But they can make up for that in utility. (CC, Buffs, Off-Tanking. Off-Healing. Debuffs/Status effects). E.c.t
@@Strangingness the issue here is every tank ability has built in threat generation whether grit is active or not. So you would fight other tanks for threat.
@@Roarrior For offtanking that might be a good thing, though. Having a high damage, "burst threat" build to grab groups of enemies as they spawn throughout a fight. That is honestly what I am hoping to do as a paladin (tank/cleric) with 2-handed sword. May not be the best single target tank, but if I can quickly grab all of the smaller threats running around, it will be well worth it!

If a second persons taunt debuff overwrites any current taunt debuff, I wonder if you could have an of tank hit taunt whenever the main tank taunts, so you can reduce the damage a boss does to a main tank by 30%. I would imagine an off tank not getting the 30% DR from random aoe damage would be way better than not giving the MT an additional 30% DR from bosses direct hits.
Looking at it from a raiding POI from other games, running 2 tanks and having 1 going super treaty and thr other not using many high threat abilities would be OP as hell. Having 1 tank put protect on the MT and then taunting on CD to reduce damage taken, god thats broken.
Do you happen to know if Aegis transfer true damage, or it takes in consideration the type of it, minus mitigation? I.E, a mage gets a hit of 1000 dmg. 200 dmg transfer to the tank, but the mage does not have the same mitigation. Do it substract something, or the tank gets hit by 200 true dmg?
@@marcobernier3682 I do believe it's DMG after mitigation. Because, it's transferring the DMG that the mage WOULD take to their actual health meaning after the mage mitigated what it could mitigate. Needs to be tested to be sure but I believe that is how it works.
Tried tanking and some people are so demanding lol. Gonna do something else next wipe. Also, I thought 30:28 was talking about how long your disables last. I tested it out and I think that's the case because the mobs seemed to be tripped for longer. Could be my imagination tho.
Protect can be very good in a raid situation splitting damage between tanks, Protecting each other. Wonder if it will trigger an infinite cycle of damage redirects between 2 tanks Protecting each other.
@@hergendy very well could be. The constant splitting of DMG could be very handy in the right situation. Or even just splitting specific attacks and not having it on all the time. Lots of possibilities to test.
Is there a meter that shows how much threat and courage you build up? Also, how you assign and delete hotkeys because I want to add food and delete an ability I dont use
@@husonuso there is no threat meter or any indication that you lost agro other than the mob no longer hitting you. And in the settings you'll find full key binding options. You can rebind 99% of the buttons.
@@Nick-hq7yc yes as long as the skills and traits are there to support it. As it is now you lose a lot of durability swapping to 2hand. And the evasion skills aren't good enough to support a full evasion tank style. Maybe after more item sets and classes are introduced to augment out play styles.
