    I don’t know about ‘starting’ to look the part! It already looks awesome. And the way you have designed it to fit into the landscape means it will enhance the scene even more. The lever frame is so wonderfully simple and yet so clever, and I’d say the positioning is just about right as you’d get an excellent all round view from there 😎
    I must say, that little section of the layout has really come on enormously and almost steals the scene around it 👍

    Hiya Julian, people can’t resist having a pop at someone, total idiots who know naf all about modelling. When you decided to fill the tunnel mouth in, I understood where you were coming from, ignore the so called know alls. Now you have painted the white fill in, you can now imagine what’s to come next, us modellers have a license to do and build anything and everything we want. If someone doesn’t like what you are doing, then in my opinion, they should just scoot off, don’t message, just keep walking . It’s a great layout Julian, I love seeing Station Road coming to life, well done, and keep up the great ideas. Take care, look forward to the next instalment 👌🏻👌🏻

    Great Video, I think the arches have an extra 3D element to it and would probably be a good method of finishing off window and door surrounds on future builds. Genius Lever Panel, but you know that the rivet counters will now want to see into the Signal Box every time you change the points to ensure the correct levers are in position. 😜 Great Job.

      They might also want to see the levers painted in their correct colours🙂

    Hi Julian! Another splendid build! Loved the look of those roof tiles, and the lever frame was really well thought out and implemented! Can't wait to see the little details that will bring the interior to life! All the best, Ian.

    That’s a really nice signal box slate tiles give a more realistic look that and the positionable leavers make nice details to the signal box.

    The lever frame is a masterful piece of work Julian. How about black and white check lino' for the floor? I think it would very nicely, give a good contrast to highlight the levers. The roof slates came up well, I think. A bit of moss and weathering as you suggest, and the roof will be spot on. Nice one Kiwi.

    Excellent work Julian, I know Bedale signal box very well and your model is a great representation of a southern district North Eastern box. There was a larger version of the Bedale signal box at Richmond North Yorkshire. If you can find a copy of Ken Hooles North Eastern Branch line termini there are drawings and information on it. North Eastern Railway Association do excellent books with lots of information too. Looking forward to seeing the completed model, Happy Modelling!

    Great build Julian, signal lever colours as White spare, Red home / start signals, Yellow distant signals, Black points which have Blue point locks next to them & Brown is a release lever eg crossing gates or for a ground frame. A lot of boxes had wooden seat lockers. a desk for the train register. plus a set of emergency flags Red & Green. Don't forget at the front of the base is were the rods (for the locks & points) and chains for the signals exit the box! Did you think you were entering a mine field of signaling when you started this project? 🙃

      Thanks for sharing some of the details you'll find in a signal box. I'm not going to go as far as individually painting each lever in an appropriate colour, they're just too delicate and I don't want to break them. For the purposes of some interior representation, they'll do the job as is.

      @@StationRoadModelRailwaydon't forget that the point rodding doesn't just come out of the front of the signalbox.

    Hi there no criticism of your spectacular model of a beautiful signal box but when you installed the walkway around the building for the little signal man inside to clean the windows from the outside how does he

    • @neiloflongbeck5705
      @neiloflongbeck5705 2 місяці тому +1

      Bedale signalbox was a bit of an oddball when it came to the walkways. It only had walkways in front on the windows. The signalman would have to open the window and climb through it to clean the windows. Most other NER S1a signalboxes used either a folding plank or a iron bar. Haxby and Kirkham Abbey both used the former, which It's a board the same width as the walkway that would be turned on its side along the wall between the door and the front of the signalbox when not in use. There would be no railing but a handrail fixed to the window sill on that side. Whilst Oxmardyke, which is almost identical to the model used an iron bar set about a third of the was up the window for the signalman to lean against when cleaning the windows, which slide from side to side.
