I'd have to agree on this being the best overall airbrush ever. It's like in boxing where there's one person who is the best "pound for pound" boxer across all the weight classes. This is the airbrush equivalent of that. Taking everything into consideration, it just comes out to the best overall airbrush ever. When people ask me which airbrush to get for getting into the hobby I usually recommend a H&S Ultra for starters but tell them to upgrade to an Eclipse if they find themselves enjoying it. For about 90% of people, the eclipse is the last airbrush they'll ever need to buy.
@@theartworkshop I am not actually a big fan of the H&S Airbrushes in general,. their triggers feel too lose for me. Like you, I prefer a tighter trigger. However, the Ultra is best for beginners because it's so easy to clean. The nozzle system that all the H&S airbrushes share are super easy to clean and beginner friendly and for 70 Euro the ultra is a a good entry point into the hobby I feel like.
@@theartworkshop I'd be interested in what you have to say about the ultra compared to the infinity. Both use the exact same nozzle and needle, so it always felt odd to me that one is marketed as a high end airbrush and the other is so much cheaper when some of the most important parts are completely identical. It would be interesting to hear from you how much of a difference there really is. It just doesn't make any sense to me that they'd be so far apart in terms of pricing.
Mark! I have not use the eclipse. I have seen lot of airbrush artist considered this one the 🐐 of them all. Maybe the closest thing i have to that one is the kustom ch! ! Great review! Thanks
You know what I think..... This is a great new look on this classic. As you know I have an Eclipse. I just bought a secondhand (2nd) HP-CS off ebay. It looked brand new at a big price reduction. I was guessing maybe it had been used once or twice and the guy/girl...etc. didn't know how to clean it or it had a bent needle or fooked nozzle.. Both were right. Needle is bent. Not sure about the nozzle until I get to my dads who has a microscope. And it was filled with dried paint. Long story short. Paint cleaned out, I rolled the needle on a flat surface and polished it. She works. Will find out tomorrow under the microscope if all is good. If not, It's a new needle and nozzle which is fine... Quick question if you don't mind Sir: Of course I have an old H&S Infinity. I bought a new 0.15 needle for it (The bend, It wasn't my fault) when I recieved it I realised it was Version 2 and my old one is version 1. Is it compatible with my version 1 nozzle? (Sorry for the wall of text and I hope you are doing well) I just can't get over all these great videos.
Thanks! A microscope is so useful. I use one all the time when something goes wrong with my airbrushes. Yes, the H&S needles (version 1&2) both work with all their nozzles. Just make sure you have the same, like a .15 needle with a .15 nozzle.
The eclipse is a bad ass tool. I got the .5 conversion kit for when i spray larger projects and thre nozzle for that is one piece like the badger you showed. I don't understand why they made the 35 a 2 piece nozzle but any way, just a bit of info for you

Hi there! Absolutely love your channel, all your tutorials. You are an absolute master at this and the sole reason I’m getting back into art. Thank you so much for this. Silly question. I have the eclipse HP-CS, When you say working at 20 psi, do you mean 20 psi with just air passing through or do you mean 20 psi when spraying paint. I noticed mine drops by about five psi down to 15 once paint enters the chamber. Thank you in advance! Kyle
happy to hear that. thanks! I mean 20psi when I'm spraying the paint. I always set my psi while pressing down on the airbrush trigger so that it is spraying air. So while it's not in use the psi will read higher (usualy+5 or so psi), but once you start spraying it'll read around 20. Hope this helps!
I just got one from Amazon extremely happy with it definitely sprays better than my cheap Fenga FE-183k and my Paasche VL , but one question please I wanted the 3.5 option which I ordered and due to my OCD I just whated to confirm that's the one I have got as they do others , but I can't find the size anywhere even under my magnifying light , surely it says the size somewhere...!! My others do but I can't find it anywhere so where does it state what size set up you are using ...?? All the best
I think you mean the .35 nozzle over the .5. Easy to tell- the eclipse airbrushes (hp-cs, hp-bs, & Hp-takumi) come with the .35. The bottom/bottle feed one (hp-bcs) is the only one that comes with a .5. You can see the difference easily because the larger .5 (from the hp-bcs) is a single piece nozzle, all in a single color. The .35 has that small nozzle on the front of it, like you see in this video. Hope this helps.
So to be clear, this brush does not allow the user to adjust the amount of paint being sprayed, or to thin or wide spray pattern, by turning a rear knob?
Ive tried a good many airbrushes, including badger 150, H&D Ultra and the eclipse HP BS. Finally got a HP CS and I will never use the others again. The HP BS sprays well but the cup is too small for large applications. HP CS is perfect in every way.
Maybe a question for a different video. Can I use latex based paint (like from Home Depot/Lowes) in an airbrush? Would I just need to thin it like I do with acrylic paint? Thanks. Love your videos.
I've actually done this a few times for large backgrounds but I'd never recommend it. It sprays awful and you need to bump the psi up to 40 or so. Lots of clogging and can't be good for the airbrush. Best to stick with an airbrush paint bc the pigments are ground to a much smaller size.

Question, My Iwata eclipse HP-CS is spraying paint week. Paint I use is Vallejo Air, my PSI 25, Brush is Clean. It's spraying paint in thin lines and coverage takes FOREVER. Please any advice would be appreciated. Thank You
