    The most challenging part of the procedure --- and most frustrating -- is cleaning the needle orifice with a flaccid length of thread. My solution : apply a small amount of hot ( crazy ) glue to the end of the thin thread, about 1 ". After it dries it will easily pass through the orifice ; then add the alcohol to complete the cleaning.

    Hola Sergio Solo, un gran trabajo y por fin me sacas de muchas dudas, pero tengo una pregunta, también se puede limpiar con extracto de trementina? (vamos el aguarrás de toda la vida). Recibe un cordial saludo desde España.

    • @SergioSolo
      @SergioSolo  6 років тому

      Muchas gracias, Miguel. El aguarrás diluye pinturas a base de aceite, pero yo uso acrílicos (que son a base de agua), así que no sé mucho del tema. Un saludo desde Colombia 🇨🇴

    Looking for some help. I have the same airbrush. It started constantly spraying blotchy/ over spraying on me. Doesn't matter the air pressure or how much i thinned the paint. Ended up buying a new needle and nozzle only to have the same problem. Tried a variety of paint brands and other types of thinners but get same results. Did good cleaning too. Cannot paint fine and detail without masking now as the over spray is too much.

    Excellent, explanatory video !
    Just a small tip from an airbrush noob like myself, at 8:03 of the video, when i put the nozzle & needles cap bac to place, i pull the trigger back at the same time so the needle goes back and does not hit with the caps by accident :D

  • @ndem8620
    @ndem8620 4 роки тому +4

    Great video,Sergio. The tip on using thread to clean the nozzle is especially useful - though pretty hard to get the thread through using a needle. I used the inter-dental brush to force it through. You said you couldn't think of the verb to describe the motion of pulling the thread backwards and forwards - try 'flossing'. It's the term we use for cleaning teeth this way!

    This is the most thorough and concise video I have found on using and maintaining, and especially cleaning, an airbrush. I just purchased this exact model after using a Paasche siphon feed for some time and was looking for the best way to clean a gravity feed model. Video is right to the point without a lot of distracting chit chat. Background music was actually relaxing and complemented the video well instead of the death metal junk that some creators like to put behind their videos 🫤. Can’t wait to try out my new airbrush (waiting on an adapter to make it work with my Paasche compressor 🙄)

    I think You're destroying the internal seal of your airbrush by cleaning it from the back using a ramrod (step at 10:20). When that seal is destroyed, some paint can get to the back of the airbrush, where is should never be present. I made the same mistake until i found out that's incorrect cleaning. Excellent video beside that :)

    • @tommylakasi3022
      @tommylakasi3022 6 років тому

      Michal B. Isnt the seal broken by the needle anyways. Its doing the same thing as the needle

    • @michalb.1529
      @michalb.1529 6 років тому

      Hey Tommy, the internal seal has a normalized hole to fit exactly to the needle. By cleaning it with the ramrods, the seal hole expands and the paint will get to the places inside the airbrush, where its never allowed to be present. Those sals look like or are similar like those in this url: www.fine-art.com.pl/uszczelka-dyszy-h-s-wszystkie-modele-3szt-ptfe.html .

    Hello sir! At 8:24 the nozzle/crown consists of 3 pieces (1,2 and 3). However, on my Iwata the parts in the middle (2) is sooooooo tight and couldn't be unscrewed, is it okay if I leave it on? Or should I force it so it could be unscrewed? Thanks!

    I am trying to decide what to replace my Paache H1's with. Will this airbrush run Woods & Water paint as it comes out of the bottle or is thinning required? I looked at Badger but some of the reviews are scary. Stories of really poor quality and lack of customer support. I tried contacting them but no response ever came so I'll find another company that cares hopefully.

    After u clean it twice an water is clear than u shoot through the brush into a

    Question if anyone has an answer.
    I got my boyfriend an Iwata Eclipse Airbrush with the gravity paint cup on it. It sputters a lot and sometimes doesn't spray paint to well. I noticed he doesn't put the lid back on the gravity cup. In this video its mentioned to make sure you put it back on. Could this be causing some of his airbrushing issues? He has trouble shot for it a few times and cleans it like everyone says to but still has quite a bit of issues.

    • @jesusdapena1296
      @jesusdapena1296 Рік тому

      The lid prevents you from splashing the paint all over yourself (or worse, the model!) as you move the airbrush. Always make sure that the tiny hole at the top of the lid is not clogged, or else the partial vacuum will make it hard for the paint to go into the airbrush nozzle!

  • @davormackovic2984

    I agree as others have said, best cleaning tutorial video. You explain very well, and you SHOW us how it's done, and seeing the results. Too many videos just say "do this" but don't actually show you or even worse say "do it this way" but they don't do it that way.
    Thank you so much for this, I am going to start air brushing again after quitting. Going to see if you have more videos, hopefully I will learn properly and keep air brushing.

    I started painting at the age of 11 with the WW2 tank models. With obviously questionable results. I did not know painting techniques for lighting effects and use diluted colors. One day I find myself in the youtube home a video of Sergio Solo as recommended. It made me resume the desire after 7 years! (I'm 18 now). I watched a lot of technical videos etc. Having started from now with very specific ideas and everything I have armed with a good iwata NEO (obviously not as professional as that of Sergio but always an at least branded airbrush) And I'm starting to see excellent results thanks to Sergio videos! Thank you so much I think I will not stop anymore! Finally my favorite hobby I can continue with great satisfaction! PS: (when I go to work at my desk I looped your videos that have really good soundtracks ahhah!) Thanks Sergio Solo! :)

    Good info. I have been using a Paasche VL for 40 years, but it finally wore out, so I bought an Eclipse. It has given me a fit! If I get it close enough to spray a fine line, the nozzle is so close to the work I can't tell where I'm painting. Also, because I have to adjust the paint flow with every stroke, and can't tell for sure how much I'm getting until it hits the workpiece, I'm either spraying nothing or too much. Can you recommend a tutorial on how to use the thing?
