That part of the story is a stupid thing, Sindri blames Kratos and Atreus for Brok's death, he has the same part of his death like everybody else, hell he said in the Temple of the Lake that gave them everything and he has nothing now. I know that Brok died before so Sindri somewhat (if you can call it) was prepared for it.
I am not saying forgive straight away but Sindri Got his revenge, True it wont bring Brok back but now he can move on.

My guess is there will be a scene in Egypt where Sindri is forced to come to terms with what happened to Brok. I feel like if the Gang saves the mythos side of Egypt I feel like the reward for Sindri's part in it all would be Osiris bringing back Broks spirit one last time and this time its gonna be Brok letting loose on Sindri for wasting the heart he has. I could definitely see if Osiris brought back Brok cause he still had some words to say to Sindri. It would be like: "SINDRI! WHY ARE YOU STILL CRYING OVER ME! Brother! you've always had a heart big enough for the both of us quit crying over me when we got a family maybe not by blood but by friendship that cared tons about us. Sure the squirt *points his finger at Atreus* screwed the effing hell up got me killed but I was already DEAD. You got too much to keep living for you got our new family to look after and you got OUR LEGACY to carry on. AND I"LL HAUNT YOU FROM MY GRAVE, GOD DAMN IT if you keep acting like a sad sob over me!!!
Make me proud now to be your brother I wanna see what history you can make that will cement us in the history books. I wanna look down and see you be a LEGEND that is older and longer than those damn norse gods.

There's a key piece of dialogue you're missing that does suggest that Sindri will forgive Kratos and Atreus and move on with his life. During the post game when at Sindri's house Freya and Mimir wonder if Sindri will ever return after everything that happens. And Kratos simply says "We Will Maintain it (the house) until his return."
This suggest that Kratos, of all people, not only thinks that Sindri will return but that, in time, he will forgive everyone including himself for Brok's death. This is even suggested during the cutscene when you meet up with Sindri after Brok's death with him saying "Mourn how you wish."
Fans have pointed out that by the end of the game Sin has basically turned into Kratos and I think Kratos sees the same thing. He knows what it means to lose yourself to grief and loss to the point that you no longer care about anything but revenge and once you have achieved that, there's nothing left. All you can do is move on and hope that you can find something else worth living for.
I think Sindri will forgive Atreus as he did help in the final battle and was even going to take on Thrud to save Atreus. No matter what he says, Sindri does still care about his friends, he's just consumed by grief.

Kratos has done worse and managed to forgive himself. Sindri is hurting. For the longest time it's just been him and Brok, whom he depended on to feel whole. He's trying to come to terms with his inability to fix what he himself destroyed. He feels helpless. Blaming Kratos and Atreus is how he's attempting to make sense of what happened and while they do share a portion of the blame for what happened to Brok, deep down he knows that he is mostly to blame. The end when he shrugged Kratos off for trying to console him, he went through several emotions at once. Anger, grief, doubt, shame, all reflected in his eyes.
Sindri will be fine, but it may take a while and he may go through some character arc like Freya did where he needs to find a way to become whole without Brok.

One of the reasons Kratos would offer to maintain Sindri's house until his return is that Kratos does feel responsible for Brok's unnecessary death. Yes, they were all fooled by Odin, but Kratos is a leader and would take on the entire blame if it meant the others could move on. He can handle the guilt because he's had to do it before after killing his own family after being tricked by Ares. I think he knows Sindri will have to battle his own guilt and may come out on the other side and be ready to resume a life, and the least Kratos and the others can do is to keep his house nice for him.

@@VideoGameSophistry He doesn't need to forgive, so much as come to terms and learn that he has more to his family now than just Brok. I think Kratos should tell Sindri instead of grieving a path of ruin like Kratos did in Greece. Make the suggestion of making a monument or statue in honor of Brok. Build something in honor of Brok and then make something that would be able to ensure peace and protection to what Sindri still has to care about. Use Brok's loss to learn from rather than suffer in silence. Also that Brok would want Sindri to go on living happily and to keep their legacy going.

Kratos has literally travelled through time. Twice, I think. And Jormungandr did, too. There's little evidence suggesting anyone in the Norse Pantheon can actually CONTROL time travel, and honestly I think they'd need Odin's power to do so (barring any Norse god I'm unfamiliar with). As far as a quick Google search tells me, the Norns are the only ones who could help. Urd/Urth (I don't have a Norse keyboard so I have to go with the 2 options Wikipedia gave me for typing it) is apparently the representation of the past, while one is the present, and the 3rd the future.
I'd say Kratos could meet Sindri again and be like, "I have an idea about how to bring Brok back, if that is what you truly wish. But it cannot be done from these lands, and neither you nor Atreus would survive the journey. Will you trust me, one last time, to do all that I can, to bring Brok back to you?" And then he could search for any remnants in Olympus, none of which would be able to help him, so he could then go to Egypt. Because apparently that's the next pantheon. Atreus and Angrboda will likely already be going there, but since Atreus wanted to kind of have a solo journey, this is how I think we could get them in the same area, but at different times, until towards the end where they likely meet and perhaps even part again. (If Atreus hasn't finished his journey. And I have no reason to suspect he'd be able to over the course of basically 1 game)

@@TriggeringOpinionsandFacts Sindri and Kratos are a lot similar in a lot of ways. When Ares manipulated Kratos into killing his own family the latter was at the lowest point of despair imaginable, like the way Sindri is rn after losing Brok once more. What happens to him after this game is still unknown but it depends on what Sindri decides to do, either finds peace and forgiveness within himself or raze out the entire pantheon like what Kratos once did. However, Sindri is a dwarf and nowhere near to reaching godhood and it would be impossible to do the latter option so he might just be a pain in the ass like Freya was in the beginning of the game.

It’s still kind of confusing with the whole dragon thing. Their explanation is that it doesn’t work on them but if he’s simply just teleporting to a new location or realm, why does it matter? Do they really just step between realms? And do they go through the same process as Kratos and Atreus just without the need for a stone? Can dragons just yank you out? I don’t think they can? They aren’t like Fenrir/Garm. It’d make sense if a creature like that could catch them. Maybe the dragon from the mountain was one of those ones that used to be a dwarf? I don’t remember if it was. I kinda doubt it was. And in Ragnarok, Sindri says how “it doesn’t work like that” when Atreus questions if he could simply poof down below. But we see that’s exactly how it works when Atreus gets mad and he poofs into his room. I’m thinking about it too hard I know lol.

A neat detail about Sindri, after Brok dies, is that he just stops caring about what made him himself. But I think the best decision that Kratos made was choosing to wait for Sindri at his house, that way, if Sindri ever goes back, he wouldn't find an empty house, slowly filling with dust and decaying, maybe he would see that his house is taken care of, that the rooms are still being used, and he doesn't have to be alone.

Freya had an outlet of retargeting her hate to Odin, which also allowed bonding with Kratos and fam along the way to ease things. Sindri though, he immediately got his revenge when his grieving had barely even set in. He will have a lot more brooding to come, but with no big antagonist to constantly target and focus on. One that isn't even necessary as Sindri managed to bring Brok back from death without it. So having ONLY that piece will do him no good. • @SSingh-nr8qz
    @SSingh-nr8qz Рік тому +24

*I believe Sindri will become a MAJOR villain in future stories, Here me out!* Sindri has all the hallmarks of great complex villain:
    1) All villians see themselves as the hero of their own story. Sindri will see whatever he is doing as justified or heroic. In Ragnarok, Sindri refused to put more of his people's lives at risk to fight for other people's wars. I can see Sindri rising to the ranks of a leader of his people to protect and rebuild his enslaved society. This can lead to tyranny even under noble intentions.
    2) Loss changes people. Sindri has clearly changed after Brok's death. If you have ever lost a child, or loved one, you never recover from that. For many people, they go down a very dark path trying to cope and those actions have consequences you can't come back from.
    3) God of War has always had main villians that are smart tactician types. People that outsmart Kratos like Odin or Zeus were always a bigger threat than mindless massive monster type.
    4) Guilt - Sindri has lots of things he feels guilty about regarding Brok. He lied to him about being dead. He feels guilt for being outcasts among his people due to that choice. He feels guilt for going along with Kratos war path. Villians use guilt to place it on others to fuel their justifications for horrible actions.I can see Sindri looking back and shifting his blame to the Gods that enslaved his people.
    5) Road to Hell - I can see Sindri starting off trying to protect any more loss of his people's lives, and ultimately leading to an extreme final solution. I can see Sindri seeing all Gods (good or bad) as needing to be destroyed as a way to protect his people. He may even kill these Gods' innocent followers as needing to be killed as well. All for the greater good Sindri sees . History is filled with events like this.
    6) Betrayal - Sindri gave a great speech after the loss of Brok. He feels used and betrayed. He gave everything he had to people outside his family with no expectation of getting anything in return. His friendship can be seen as one sided considering how much was taken versus how much was given. When you are betrayed at such a core level, it's a poison.
    7) Tragedy - God of war is filled with themes of tragedy. Sindri, a former friend, turning into your adversary you know you have to kill would be tragic. Unlike previous villians in God of War, you really don't want to kill Sindri. You will want to save him, but it's like a beloved family dog that has turned rabid. You have to put him down and that does not change all the past memories.

The catch? Kill the Ghost of Sparta and The Trickster God. Even though Sindri is done with helping gods, this might be his only chance to save Brok. Of course, the gods are lying to him, and maybe at this point Sindri breaks and becomes more angry and depressed. Until he hears the echos of Brok saying that he forgives him but he has to stop and let it go. The final words and promise of his brother and yet he still acted selfishly. I think at this point Sindri will begin let it go and instead of seeking vengeance or seeking a way to bring Brok back, he learns to accept he is truly gone. And though he will never forgive Atreus, he won’t forgive himself either until he finds peace somewhere. No more sadness or destruction. Sindri will find a place where he can move on.

He is a God after all, and very keen with soul magic, Loki isn't just looking for Giants, he's looking for Brok. Once he is in the afterlife, after Loki acts as his direction (just as he did in real life, since Brok was directionless before he met Atreus) and joins the lake of souls, Sindri can take peace in knowing his greatest fear is fixed, and therefore can forgive himself, and realize that Atreus deserves forgiveness as well.

I think there's a lot of moving parts to consider but ultimately I do think Sindri could one day forgive Atreus. To start with Atreus is not the one who killed Brok and while it was Atreus' idea to find Tyr, no one objected and they were all fooled. I also think Sin feels worse because he never got to confess to Brok about bringing him back from the dead and leaving a part of his soul. I think the guilt from that is really what's tearing Sin up but, like most people he'd probably look to blame someone else before he blames himself. I think the path for him going forward has already been laid out by Freya and it took some time but eventually she did come back. She had to forgive Kratos, the actual person who killed her son and she was able to do that. Sindri also commented that now he doesn't even have his family to which Atreus reacted saying he thought they were also Sindri's family so I think that Sindri, deep down felt that at some time too. It'll probably take a long time but I don't think he's willing to throw away those bonds forever; not when they are all he actually has left.

Not so much as forgiving him, but deciding that there was something more important than his hatred, and that would be Hela.

Possible ways I see this leading to future games: Sindri transforms into a dragon because losing everything he holds dear turns to possessiveness and greed (which turns dwarves into dragons): and/or he sets off in search of Brok’s soul in other afterlives (Egyptian, Aztec, etc), with Atreus trying to protect and save him in turn.

What I think is interesting here is that the game never says that souls cease to be, it specifically says that a soul without direction can't find the lake of souls, that being the case where does the soul go? as the possibility exists that the soul continues to exist but isn't where it should be, in theory if we want to go with a more lighthearted outlook, that means that could encounter Brok's soul bits yet still somewhere where they shouldn't be.

There is nothing wrong with him becoming antagonistic in the future, mainly because I don't think any other characters have been written cheaply in this regard before anyway, it has always deeper than that to the credit of the writers. I personally am more worried about him being made similar to Freya and becoming forgiving in the same fashion, if anything. I think his grudge should be a bigger battle for him and he could have a bigger transformation into someone even more threatening, someone who might be seen as a physically weak dwarf, but his knowlege and skill is almost unknown and possibly more dangerous than brute force. It would be cool too see what he's capable of with the anger that might drive him now. Whatever his goals would be in the future, I also think he could be someone who manipulates not unlike Odin himself. An example is how he stole the kill from Atreus/Kratos/Freya, when he was absent from since outside the wall. He was apparently watching the whole time to ensure Odin's death, and swiftly made his move out of nowhere to make it happen.

  • @RS14988
    @RS14988 Рік тому +3

I don't think Sindri forgiving anyone will come about any time soon. From Brok's death to the end of the game, that pain is still so fresh, he still feels that seething anger at all responsible, Atreus and Kratos for finding Tyr, Odin for the deception of everyone and murder of his brother, perhaps even some anger at Freya for taking too long at the standoff with Odin while he was begging for help.
Moreover, he risked his life to bring his brother back and even after all that effort, Brok was never whole again and the guilt Sindri would be feeling would be absolutely gut-wrenching, to deny his own brother an afterlife. Knowing that effort was now all for nothing. The fact that Sindri already lost Brok once and couldn't accept it and now he has no way to bring him back a second time.
I believe in time, Sindri will forgive Atreus and Kratos but I think he first has to forgive himself and pull himself out of that hole and even that could take a long time. Sure, he might not ever be the same again, but acceptance is only the first of several stages of grief.

I think this might be the base for the next Mythological place that they would visit. That perhaps Brok soul went on to another underwold, or something like that, and Sindri in an attempt to bring it back provoke the gods of those lands. I don't know why, but Mesoamerican Myths come to mind, as Mictlan is only one of the underworlds, they were multiple, depending on how do you died, and Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca story is also a tale of two brothers who drift over time. I think it fits very well to tie the two stories of brothers. Not to mention that Mesoamerica Pantheon is already confirm as canon.

They use the the same game and the same story, but they have playable missions, cutscenes with sindri, Atreus, the valkyries, etc and they all intertwine with the actual timeline. I know it sounds clique but the idea of sindri disrupting the time line to save brok, then maybe getting killed to reunite with brok, forgiving Atreus and Kratos for what happened then passing on, sounds interesting to see. What if Brok will come "back" but in Indian mythology? The creators have hinted at Týr doing yoga poses at the end of the game, hinting to the next mythology. Brok, losing his "direction" could end up "lost" and wind up being some Indian deity. He already has the blue skin for it as well which, I may be wrong, but is not normally a feature of brok in norse mythology but is a trend in Hinduism. Maybe this is the journey needed to bring sindri and loki together again. Not saying it will be Brok exactly that we see again just some sort of... reincarnation?

He'll come around eventually, and more precisely, he'll realize that Atreus and Kratos couldn't have known it was Odin all along. I really hope he doesn't end up the villain in the sequel, as it'd be rehashing Freya's arc all over again. Unless they do not plan a redemption arc for Sindri and have him go full evil to bring his brother back.

When I first saw the scene with Atreus and Sindri in the forge after Brok's death I initially thought "damn Sindri is being a dick for something he is more responsible for than anyone else." But a few days later I just couldn't get Sindri's words out of my head so I rewatched the scene.
He blames Atreus and Kratos, but he ultimately knows that he himself is most responsible. He blindly followed Kratos and Atreus lead basically not questioning any consequences for going to war with the Aesir/Odin, we then find out he rescued Brok from the dead with only 3 of his 4 soul bits intact. He invites Atreus, Kratos, and the newly freed Tyr into his home without a second thought, and this of course ends up being his downfall. He gives and gives and gives and never says no, even when he should, and because of this his brother dies. And not just dies, but is denied an afterlife because of Sindri's own actions and he knows it. If he hadn't selfishly brought Brok back to life then he would be resting in the afterlife with his soul intact, and now he's just...gone..and Sindri knows it. He knows it's his own fault. He knows Kratos and Atreus and Odin are also to blame, but he knows deep down that the bulk of the blame lies with him, and he's ashamed of it. He blames Kratos and Atreus for Brok's death and he's right. He blames Odin for Brok's death and he's right. But worst of all, he blames himself for Brok's death. And he's right.
Sindri's story is by far the most well done, saddest, and most believable story arc in the whole Norse saga.

In Norse mythology, there are 2 Sindri. One is the Dwarf blacksmith, and the other is a Hall made of red gold that serves a monument and a mourning place for all the righteous and innocent people who died in Ragnarok.
Considering the fact that Sindri lost his brother because of Ragnarok, I think that what they can end up doing at the end of Sindri's story is having him use his skills as a magical craftsman and blacksmith to build the Hall of Sindri. Maybe with the idea that his mistake made it so Brok couldn't get an afterlife, so, the Hall is meant to be a place Sindri built for Brok's soul to rest. Either simply as a symbolic gesture, or maybe even a magical solution to this issue. Brok asked him not to bring him back to life, so Sindri shouldn't end up doing it. Instead, it's way more fitting for Sindri to right his wrong by finding a way for Brok to have an afterlife. If Brok can't get an afterlife, Sindri will make him one. The Hall of Sindri, the place to honor those who tragically lost their lives at Ragnarok.

I’m currently betting on Sindri traveling to Egypt to entreat their god of the dead for some kind of help. With all the hints into other pantheons it would make a nice Segway into other mythos plus it would be a more immediate solution than time travel, something that is only hinted at in Norse mythos through Thor hitting midgardsomer back through time.
