- Hello everyone! We can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! The laundry room on the deck is coming out really good. We still need to do a lot of work on it. We have not put and flashing down to keep the water out and we need to block the tops to be able to secure the siding. We are really excited to be almost finished with this! Laundry rooms - just one of those things that make life easier and normal. And this one is perfect!
Silacone under the house roof over the shed roof to stop water back up when you have ice/snow buildup. Build a table on one wall for folding clothes with storage below for supplies and a pipe rack for hanging clothes from dryer. Maybe a small hand washing sink. Do not forget insulation for pipes and washer!
As always you two are doing an awesome build on the laundry room. I think you will be so thrilled to have ended up with it back on the porch. Mainly just to be able to take off muddy clothes & boots & not have to track mud in the house! It’s a sad Friday but Resurrection Sunday is coming! Jesus is alive forevermore! Rooster really gave you a wonderful Birthday gift 🎁 by filling your garden beds. Then went the extra mile and leveled out the remaining soil so you could get the grass going. This is down right a piece of heaven on earth 🌏 for the 3 of you.

I would put some flashing under the main cabin metal and over the deck roof..To prevent water from running down the wall
Rox always plant a little Mint near a potential dripping faucet. There are many varieties of mint, I like the milder Spearmints. Good to crush into lemonade or iced tea, extra refreshing in the heat of summer.
Mint could take over the garden be careful where you plant it
@Marti Hetrick Mint isn't a problem in most SW states. Summers where CRC is normally have a hot dry period that helps control overgrowth. Our climate across the US varies so greatly there are no hard & fast rules that apply. Joe Pye Weed & Larkspur which some states bann, are perfectly behaved here on the high plains of TX where I live. 2021 Feb Feezmegeddon killed my mint.

I think you should put that new panel underneath the panel on the roof so no water runs down the roof from the house roof and into your laundry room??? Also drip edge and caulking should be around the two sides so no water comes in from the sides? GREAT job you two looks very nice.
You are so true that siding will soak up water like a sponge should not sit on porch.
Looked to me like he did shove the panel under the roof panel, I don't know if it was far enough to prevent any backflow though.

I would recommend putting a folding counter on the wall opposite of the W/D setup. I would also recommend that when the floor is installed a drain is included so any flooding is directed out and away and is not allowed to just hang out on the floor. Makes sure to run a bead of silicone around the entire inside base of all the walls. This will keep water from getting under the studs. If you install the W/D on a sleightly raised platform and built a 2x4 wall across in front of the W/D any flooding can be directed out and away and contained around the W/D. You will want to isolate the W/D on rubber pads too so the vibrations are dampend and not transferred to the house thru the walls.

Just an FYI. When you put flashing in your window you want the flashing to go outside into the siding. Think of the flashing directing the water where you want it to go. You want the water going outside not in between the framing and the siding. Keep up the good work

Wow, that is totally awesome!! Roxanne, you are going to love having your washroom outside. We live out in the country and we have a septic tank. The people who come drain it for us told us that we might want to re-route our drain pipes leading from the washroom to somewhere outside, because the water from the washing machine can fill our septic tanks faster than it can when we wash dishes or take baths. If I were you, I would purchase some bio-degradable soap powder and fabric softener if they have those available, and run your drain pipes to somewhere out on the ground. I would also recommend that you use some kind of caulking on the roof where the edges meet to avoid any kind of leaks coming down into your laundry room. Oh, you guys want me to get outside and re-do our deck and put a screened in area on it so we can go outside at night or early in the morning and drink coffee. :) I'm so very happy for you both. You've come such a long way in a short amount of time.

The little tab on 2 by 4 hangers if hit with hammer is a little nail that will hold in place long enough to nail in place.

Roxanne you can grow your cucumbers inside a tomato cage inside your raised bed. They will climb the cage with a little guidance from you. Maybe 5 plants per cage. Takes up way less room and the produce will stay clean being up off the dirt. @Country Road Cure

Wow great progress. One recommendation for the laundry room, put some foam board insulation under the metal. It will deadening the sound of rain and such other noise from deafening the person inside.

I would recommend putting building paper on the roof prior to the sheets to prevent condensation buildup.
You’ll need a high fence, deer can jump pretty high. However, your dogs may keep the deer away. Can’t wait to see your garden grow, we’re ready to plant too.
Great Room to have. Suggestion is to NOT run the wash drain water to a well/sewer BUT to RUN to the yard as watering runoff. as the soaps will help kill weeds and save in watering cost.

Thank you for showing us the wildflowers in your intro....I have garden envy.... So many lovely raised beds it's going to be amazing. If you want to get more of the debris out of the garden dirt you could build a frame out of 2x4s and attach some of the hardware cloth to it and make a sifter .......had one for years they work great. Great work you two ‼️

Next time, just stack the base and top plate on the floor then measure up from there. Never assume that the distance is the same unless you verify it. Leave about 1/2 in inch extra for the door. A pre hung door is the easiest to install.

First. , Let me wish you a Very Happy Easter. Next be sure to get some rest. This week has produced an amazing amount of work. The Laundry Room is beautiful, do soon Laundry will be a more convient job. The zfrck is taking shape and is well on its way. The Garden Beds also taking shape. You have wasted no time at all. I admire how fast and efficiently you work I love, love how the Backyard looks and will look when the Grass starts to come up, it will be so beautiful. The Chickens home is so beautiful with the flowers and fenced in. I forgot, I can see how big your Laundry Room is, there is plenty of room for everything you need in a Laundry Room. I wait excitedly every day to see what is taking place and what us new.
I also wanted to say, the start of your Video is so, so beautiful.. I did not do a lot if History or Geography about the States at the School I went. I did my studies on my own. I love Mountains and Trees. Their Beauty is so Majestic, no matter what kind of day it is. I am sure you truly enjoy it.

I am excited for you to start washing clothes. Are you or can you plumb the washer so it will not go into your septic tank? You could water plants or trees with it.
