RETAIL: 7700 Yen 70USD.
So It’s been about 8 years since the release of perfect Cell way back in 2014. We’ve had a couple of reissues from that figure with the premium colour edition standing right here and an SDCC exclusive, but I can’t believe it’s taken this long to finally get another form of Cell.
What I love about this figure is that looks exactly how I imagine he would look as 6 inch scale figure, albeit being a tad shorter than I would've preferred. The articulation, except those ankles makes for some really fun and dynamic posing and though I would've liked a couple more extra accessories, what we get just adds to the over all fun factor and display options of this release.
This figure looks stunning! It's a shame about the feet and the scale, but if those things don't bother you too much, this seems a great figure to get! I didn't think I needed this figure before, but I'm slowly coming around to the idea that I do.
More than anything, I think I'd love an updated Final Form Cell with new sculpt & scale more accurate to the anime (somewhere between Figure-Rise & Dragon Stars) with all the hands and headsculpts one can imagine! Great video once again, man!
My favorite form of my favorite villain.
Love Toriyamas design philosophy with his characters, and first form Cell just SCREAMS Toriyama.
Definitely picking up this guy when I get the chance.
Personally, a figure being slightly shorter or taller than their on-screen counterpart has never bothered me or been something that I care about when it comes to figures, but that's just me.
The feet tho, is something that I am totally with you on. They definitely could look way better. They are the only thing I would say is "bad" on this figure, but other than that I'm definitely sold on this guy.

I’m buying this figure (of course) BUT the height is a killer, man. It really hurts that they made him short. If he’s short dies this mean that perfect cell will be small and puny? It goes like this in height…semi perfect cell, imperfect cell and then perfect cell. Each of these are meant to have some sort of good height. The original cell we got is already too small. This imperfect cell is SUCH A GOOD figure but they hurt us with his short height. Why tamashii?
yes probably means Perfect Cell will be the same height as the 1.0 since first form cell is bigger than perfect cell. they might even just rerelease that one like Frieza thinking its good enough. sigh.... 😓. the only hope of a big cell is the imperfect 2nd form or a bulked up one from when he regenerates after blowing himself up.
Because tamashii know people will still but this tiny cell. And they will release the perfect ones later. Just like picollo
I have it already. Just needs some silicone shock oil here and there and it moves nicely. Only problem with mine is some slight paint bleeding here and there but it still looks clean. Joints do feel potential fragile. One wing falls off a lot. No problem with the feet like a lot of videos have so that was good I was concerned it was a defect all of them had. So yah just tight joints and a poor wing peg which I get they made it fall out easy so it wouldn't break. But still had they made cell slightly bigger and thicker plastic then he'd be more sturdy.
I hope Tamashi gives us Cooler (4th form of course) and Metal Cooler as the next villains in this line!
Highly anticipating getting this release and so far its very good but with many problems. The feet I agree is abysmal when they should've copied what they did with Cooler and Frieza since the feet here look like they almost curve up and articulation for ankles are really bad. Making wings on hinges vs ball joints odd choice and I still feel the torso articulation could've been better. Rest of the articulation is good although I would've liked more for the butterfly joint akin to Dodoria but that's a nitpick.
Scaling has always been an issue with Tamashii and Perfect Cell was a big victim of it and sadly so is this Cell which sucks but isn't a deal breaker. I love the additional head crest for the brows since that's a problem I had with Perfect Cell and tail accessory was stellar.
Overall strong release but not contender for best Tamashii Dragon Ball release imo. As for more villains I'd like to see: General Blue, Demon King Piccolo (Old), Tambourine, Ninja Murasaki, & Dabura
I purchased leg extensions and they make him look so much better.
This is going to be my first figure to collect! I alway have loved the way first form cell looks. He has such an atmospheric intro almost like a horror movie!
Can't wait for that 2nd Form Frieza figure!

Very fair review great job. I'm just as pumped as you to be getting these deep cut characters. The next villain I'd like to see is a cross between kid buu and second form cell.
You are so right about the feet, I think the point gets across very well. Using cooler to demonstrate this was a great idea. It's a shame but this line really doesn't seem to care about scale. Details look awesome, I am on the fence about buying him because I have been trying to cut back but he does look pretty cool.. I will be day 1 for a brand new perfect cell though! The fact that they dropped the 2nd form Frieza at the same time as this is coming out really makes it hard for me to justify the cost right now.. ugh!

Another great review! Really appreciate you covering all the details. And so clever doing the android 17 absorption scene! Wish Bandai included a tail piece of 17’s absorbed half of his body, but I’m sure customizers will get on that quick haha. And I agree it’s only a matter of time for Bandai to release everyone. I’m going to nycc again this year. Like they revealed this figure there last year, crossing fingers semi-perfect will be revealed there this year. And it’s gotta be inevitable that we’re gonna get 2.0/3.0 trunks down the line, right?? Great time to be a dbz collector!

Solid review as always! Love the overall look of this figure but I do agree with you on those issues that were pointed out. Regardless, I'm still really excited to receive and add this figure to my collection! To answer your question, the next villain I want is Kid Buu. I have a strong feeling we'll get him sooner rather than later!
I know this figure is going to grow on me over time as all of them do. But like, come on, we've waited so long for this and paying good money too. Would've loved the extra details. Good figure, but just disappointing in the lack of effort. Great review as usual :)

I have a feeling they’re just going to rerelease the old Perfect Cell in a new coat of paint for 30-40 dollars like 4th Form Frieza.
My most wanted villain has to be Super Android 13, love his design. Super Baby 2 is a must as well, Pilaf Gang, and definitely Lord Slug now that Turles is on the way.
What about janemba dude? But yeah I very badly want super android 13. Bojack even would be cool too

Cell first form is what I like the best from the anime. What character I'd like next? janemba second form is what I'd like to see. His design is cool and interesting. So yah that's what I want. So fingers crossed and base form cooler or third transformed cooler

The upper torso is articulated but with short range.

Great review mate , i got mine today and im a little disapointed tbh, feet doent "stick" to the ground they look bended up, he doesnt stand up very easy, right wing pop off easy, right shoulder is very loose... About the rest, its very poor, no effects, no acessories, limited wings movement, poor feet moves, faces are very boring and two of them look the same... very short figure as always from Tamashii, (to me) the only thing that saves him its the look, it looks perfect for an "imperfect" Cell.
Maybe DF will give us some kind of kit with different feet and hand options included. A special beam cannon hand is kinda mandatory
I dont think his nails should touch the ground, but I agree the soles of his toes should touch the ground. This is just a very unnatural way for him to pose his feet. I'm afraid of issues with posing him now.
And the size is pretty bad. I would have been okay if he had been the same exact size as Piccolo, but this is pretty bad. Aw man! No special beam cannon is also a pretty bad oversight.
Love the absorption scene lol He does come with a lot of nice hand options. I hope I can swap out a special beam cannon hand from Piccolo though.
But overall he does look amazing and I'll be glad to add him to the collection.
My biggest wish for villain figures right now is a reissue of all the Vegeta 2.0 forms (particularly his Saiyan Arc armour), a new Perfect Cell, and a new Android 16. From the top of my head I think I'm good otherwise.
And as for heroes, an Android Saga Trunks and Ch-Chi and young Gohan in their Chinese outfits would be real nice.
Wow. I just realized I'm about 10 unreleased figures away from completing my nephew's Dragon Ball collection. Apart from any villains from the recent cartoon he hasn't really told me about that is.
Agreed 100%. First 2 things I noticed about him was 1. the ridiculously inaccurate scale and 2. the weird feet and toe nails... if not for the scale though...I'd be throwing my money at this figure and putting it in my top 10 figures in history. Gonna have to give it a pass now though cos.....how do you display him with the other figures when he's completely off scale? Sorry but Bandai wont get my money on this one
Yes. Scale is almost always the deal breaker for me too and tamashii need to take note, particularly with childlike characters.
Imperfect Cell just gets a pass but very disappointed in his height!
@@liamhunt4690 couldn't agree more my friend! The super anime is soo inaccurate aswell with how they portray the smaller characters like eg. Krill in... He's a head shorter then vegeta and same height as teen gohan but they make his head ginormous! So he walks around like a boggle head but he never had that issue in dbz... Which means the figures they release of kid gohan and krill in are IMO are out of scale simply due to the massive heads... Display krill in face to face with 2nd Form frieza or cooler and he'll make them look like midgets in comparison (in a close up face to face shot).
Was/is your imperfect cells stinger crooked or curved at all? Mine was and i tried to dip it in warm water and straightened it out some. And are your sells splayed finger hands nails even? Some of mind are shorter than others this is also true of superhero piccolo especially his 2 finger hand.
ALSO this cell does have some articulation in his diaphragm i have found. Between the green and orange sections of his torso is a very shallow balljoint but it does have some give. The upper half of his torso is sitting on the orange part held inplace by this ball joint under his necks base. Its easiest to access from that small flap over his tail between his wings.

Imperfect Cell looks incredible but the scale is a sore point! It doesn’t bode well for a revised scale of Perfect Cell 2.0 but hopefully tamashii will take the feedback on board and make him taller!
As for the next villain… I feel that Kid Buu or Buuhan is overdue but a decent Perfect Cell 2.0 with height sorted and anime-esque faceplates and colouring would be awesome.
Monster Zarbon and 100% Frieza are close too I think.
Perfect Cell 1.0 I’ve avoided because of scale more than anything, but he also doesn’t look much like the character- the kamehameha effect is the only thing that makes me consider picking it up.
They got the 2nd form frieza height right but not this 1st form cell😢
Really want a 2.0 perfect cell but only if they get the damn height right. So absurd that they botched the height on this guy

Would you say this is a most have figure I’m just starting out with my collection also what Dragon Ball Figuarts do you think is a most have.
Hmm, that’s a tough question to answer. How far do you see yourself going with your collection? If you just want the main characters, I’d go with perfect cell. I started this hobby with only the intention of SSJ Goku 1.0 but the rabbit hole just kept getting deeper, now every figure for me is a must have. If you skip a figure and decide that you want it later, you’ll unfortunately have to pay a lot more for it. Just something to keep in mind. At the same time, get what you enjoy most, or the characters you’re going to enjoy most. Sorry bout the lengthy answer but I hope it helped

The original Figuarts Cell wasn’t a “tad” small. He was WAY too small and skinny.

Probably one of the most anticipated & most disappointing figures in awhile lol.
This is very disappointing because it confirms they have no plans on fixing the scale of the Android/Cell saga figures and what they had is what they are set on. The 19 and 20 prototypes look a little too short as well and 16/Perfect Cell 1.0 it was constantly pointed out. Perfect Cell is going to be the same size as the 1.0 if not just outright rereleased Its really a puzzling decision with how amazing the bigger villains from Frieza/Ginyus/Cooler,/Buu/Broly turned out. for me its personally a dealbreaker

Great review, and yes cell needs to be a tad bit taller and his feet needed to be a bit more planted on the ground …besides that he’s a great figure regardless, awesome custom ssj goku by the way, do you mind sharing how you customised that goku figure, or possibly make in depth videos on how you do your custom work ?
Do you mean the full power one? It’s basically a repaint of the head using 1 part yellow and 3 parts white. I use Mr hobby matte acrylic paints run through an airbrush
