  • In this drum lesson you will learn the Moeller Technique. It's the most essential technique used in modern drumming. It will totally change the way you approach grooves and fill-Ins and will take your drumming to a whole new level.

At the core of Moeller technique is the Moeller Whip Stroke and Moeller Whip and Flop. There is no explanation here of how to properly execute those motions.

I can't thanjs you enough. I've been struggling with this for awhile now and your lesson finally helped me get my strokes correct. I understood how it worked but seeing how you isolated the taps really made sense. I can now do the open and closed versions much better. Truly an excellent lesson. Thank you!

Dude, I love your videos, but this isn't the Moeller technique unfortunately. It was named after Sanford Moeller who analysed the movement of marching drummers. They required immense power in order to carry their sound so they developed a movement incorporating the use of the arm, elbow and wrist. This produced the 'whipping' motion that is the Moeller technique - essentially the 'UP' stroke. In modern day playing however, the arm motion is used less because it is not needed as much but the elbow is still very present in the stroke. Unfortunately it means that when people learn the Moeller stroke from just the wrist, they miss out on the fundamental component of the motion and can easily cause themselves injury with tendonitis etc. Wishing you nothing but love and respect from sunny England x
