It’s supposed to. It’s called a laser swamp and when used with low lying fog, the effect is even better! Actors can hide under it and get amazing scares.

Obviously live actors would make the experience even better, but there are so many amazing animatronics I think I would feel satisfied with my experience even without scare actors! Great video!

We went last Halloween, and they have just the right amount of live actors mixed in to make it an awesome experience. Really great haunted house!

That was one of the longest haunted houses that I've ever seen and to have so many animatronics was very impressive.
I can’t get the math right in my brain. How can they get the money and manpower needed to create something of that size and quality. I’m not sure Elon Musk could outdo that with all of his money. 😮
@@Sigmund1924I’m from STL and The Darkness has been open for a looooong time. At least 30 years. It’s easily the most popular haunted house here. They get a lot of business.
That may be the most epic haunted attraction ever created. Most if not all of the of the animatronics were unique and impressive which I appreciate. The detail in each room was exquisite. It must have taken a few years to create this masterpiece. I salute everyone involved in the process.

The green laser (swamp?) room is so imaginative. Utterly brilliant attraction that seems to goon forever 😊

It's like five nights at Freddy's where you're all alone with just props but then suddenly they move when they're not supposed to 👀

Seen many reviews on this haunted house its by far one of the best ones animatronics wise.
To be honest the larger props deserved a bitt more screen time, but i asume you had to keep moving at all times.

The giant 🎃 was my favorite
The one and only small area of improvement I can see that they should remove PennyWise. Everything in that amazing attraction seems unique and custom made just for them. That’s what makes it magical. Pennywise is a scary clown and they’ve built an impressive scene there but it’s from a movie and it’s in danger of being “Played out” if it isn’t already. Remove him and the 9.9 score goes to a perfect 10.
@@Sigmund1924 I thought Tim Curry was too comical an actor to make Pennywise scary, and that new punk kid who plays pennywise, also doesnt seem scary to me. You have to cast a scary looking actor to make a scary clown

Native St. Louisan here, can confirm The Darkness is one of THE best haunted houses in STL along with The Lemp Manor and The Cobb Factory
Never been there but based on what I’ve seen here, it’s one of the best in the country. No detail was spared. What Willy Wonka was to chocolate this place is to the haunt world.

I loved ALMOST everything about this place! The atmosphere was perfect for each room, the scares from just the animatronics were all spread out so that there was always something to scare you around each bend, and the design of everything was just amazing and terrifying!
The only thing I didn't like, and it went on for WAY LONGER than I cared for... the circus areas... I... I have Coulrophobia, or calmly known as the fear of clowns... While I was highly uncomfortable, and even slightly panicked during this portion of the video, if I were actually there, I don't think I'd have made it past the first 3 minutes in there.

Similar in a lot of ways! The Darkness has scare actors during the Halloween season but this was a special walk through for the TransWorld show.
Mortem Manor really feels like a haunted home 🏠. Like, all these Knick Nacks belong to someone’s ghost grandma. The Darkness was more like a haunted nightmare, where no matter how far you run you’re still in the nightmare!
I agree Mortem manor is one of my all time favorite haunted houses I’ve been in like 8 times the aesthetics are amazing those paintings on the stairs when going up the stairs the whole area of old town has like a tourist feel which adds to the whole aetmosphere
This place is enormous. The animatronics are really cool. I would yell too at the car horns. Always make me jump. Every time she screams it makes me laugh a little.
This was amazing! Better than Halloween Horror Nights. The use the animatronic very well and the scenes are fantastic. I prefer the walkthrough without the actors. I also really liked that there was not a lot of blood and gore for no reason---the scenes were well done, and very well coordinated, the animatronics and images worked together and made sense. I wish they have given the scenes and the larger props more screen time, they seemed to be rushing through. I would have enjoyed seeing more as this haunted house was marvelously done!

9/10, looks amazing. Disney's Haunted Mansion has 8/10 in my scale... and I was in Disneyland in real life

I would love to go here the animatronics are original and some of them, very scary. I thought the room with all the bodies on the ceiling was very creepy, it made me think of underneath the chapel in Jeepers Creepers.

We have a massive one in the North East UK called scream factory. They build it on a big dark farm field and it is bloody terrifying. Bout 45 minute walk through and even when you're waiting they have scare actors coming over to you when you have a beer in your hand 😂 30 quid to go but so worth it
The darkness is about 45 min to an hour when live actors and fog are introduced

While I love the art of scare acting, an animatronic only haunted house would be great people who love horror but cant do haunted houses, like for learning to tolerate traditional houses.
Personally, My eyes shut off when I’m jumpscared if I’m not the scare actor, someone would have to carry me out 😭😂at least in an animatronic only house I would have time to recover without being hunted 😂
Like it so much better without the scare actors. The sounds made by "scare actors" and the sounds of the attraction are so dynamically different, and to me, just takes away from the immersion not to mention all the hard work that goes into the atmosphere. I'm probably in the minority here, but jumping out and shrieking after awhile just becomes annoying. And in truth, it's not a scare, it's a startle. Again, this is merely my opinion.

In my opinion, the animatronics are pretty cool. However, the overall experience for me was boring. It's not scary at all and needs more fog to mask the animatronics and hide them a bit and some live actors. I would give it a 5 out of 10
Did you not hear the part about this being a lights on tour in February? Lol. There is definitely fog and way more effects for the season.
