Its makes no sense that silver is so dirt cheap i.e mining and production cost is barely less than the spot price.. They are using energy to subsidies the price suppression of silver. On the COMEX and LBMA.
Thanks for another great video! I know this is an older video, but you might consider a rosebud torch head for your melting. That is what we used in class. I have a bachelors degree in advanced metalsmithing from SIU.
This guy had the best eye & hand control to stamp it perfectly. Extremely hard to do this. Often wondered if you loose at least 1 or 2% of silver or gold when melted then poured. Great vidio.
I always allow a 1% "loss" from crystal going to a bar. I think this could be the sulphide boiling off or perhaps there is moisture trapped within the crystal structure... Also small bars is the way as you only ever get a percentage of the perfect with no outgassing.
Always fun to watch silver being poured. Good rule of thumb since gold is around twice the atomic weight of silver you can typically make twice as heavy of a bar with the same size mold. Inversely if you have a mold that you know you can make a 10oz gold bar in, then you should probably be able to make a 5oz silver bar in the same mold.
Awesome to see you again Sreetips. It has been far too long since I last paid you a visit. I sincerely have missed you old friend. I really enjoyed working with your 9999 crystals. Awesome pours there Sir Sreetips! I love pouring bars! So glad to see you using the brazing tip. As a welder of many many years, I like seeing the right equipment being used the way it is intended. Cutting torch is used for cutting. In which case it uses more gas and oxygen. The brazing tip is used to melt material, using less gas and oxygen. Hence, more cost effective. Did you like the performance of the brazing tip as opposed to the cutting tip? Also, I have found that instead of having the mapp heating directly above the cavity and the pour, I adjust the tip to where it is heating just the graphite mold. I don't get the hazing on the bar from the mapp hitting it directly. Bars turned out beautiful. Your stamping is impeccable! Thank you for all you do!
Yes, separate melt dish for each metal. The graphite mold deteriorates after many uses. I’d say a couple hundred pours before it starts to get bad enough that it affects the shape of the bar.

Hadn't really thought about it before, but I guess that's true. The silver bars in the biggest mold will be half the weight of the gold. I suppose you could get bigger molds.
Kev I pour small silver bars but always I get spit / oxygen coming out of them while they freeze and I can never get a nice smooth poured bar . Got any tips for me sensei.
Yes! Molten silver absorbs oxygen, then spits it back out when it freezes. To remedy, I have a MAP torch lit and standing by. Just before I pour the bar I switch from oxy/acetylene to map. I’ll do a new video on it. The oxy/acetylene torch seems to make the problem worse. Or just use a map torch to melt the silver and exclude oxy/acetylene. Map gas takes about twice as long to melt the silver. And the melt dish must be insulated with ceramic wool.
So, after pouring the silver into my mold do I leave a small flame over it for a while for it to cool down very slowly. My only issue is that when I pour the bar, it starts spitting and I end up with an ugly bar that has a whole bunch a mountains growing on it. 😆
I get that too if the mold gets too hot. I leave a flame on the mold as I pour the bar to shield it from the air as it freezes. Letting air get to it will cause it to be frosted instead of mirror finish.
Extremely good advice, diamond hands for gold and silver now. Unfortunately there are circumstances and ppl still need the fiat, for now. Love your vids, good eye for watches
Here’s what I do: store my wealth in precious metals that are increasing in value. I don’t store wealth in paper, that can be printed into existence out of thin air, in dollars that are declining in value faster than a snowball melting in July. If I need some fiat paper to buy food or pay rent, then I sell a little of my metal. This is a strategy used over thousands of years and it always works. Fiat has a 100% failure rate over that same time period. Gold and silver are real money. Why? Because they can’t be printed into existence out of thin air. Stay safe my friend.
Here in india we buy silver or gold during one of our festivals every year. Over many years we end up collecting a lot of precious metals. Wish I could buy your silver out here. Last year I bought two Ganesh idols weighing in at 500 grams each. The festival of Dhanteras is around the corner. 😊 Fun fact: 11% of worlds gold is held by Indian women.
Indian women are smart to hold their wealth in gold. Americans are clueless about gold and silver. They believe, incorrectly, that paper dollars are more valuable than gold. This misconception affords a wonderful opportunity to accumulate gold and silver, at grossly undervalued prices. It’s a gold buyers paradise here!

What happens if you melt it in the graphite mold instead of the melt dish? Does it turn out worse?
Yes, plus the intense heat will ruin the graphite mold.
Digital fiat is even worse than paper fiat. At least with paper fiat you can use it to start a fire to keep warm.
When cementing silver, does it give off noxious fumes?
Yes
@@sreetips Thank you!
I love seeing the silver getting processed in mass, thank you!
En massé, bro
Maybe he's catholic?
Thank you for this very detailed look into converting old silver to new! 👍🏼
I've been wondering what is the small bar that you put in the silver shot ?
What camera are your using to film the melt?
iPhone 11 Pro - it’s has the best camera out of all that I’ve tried. Especially for close-ups.
Here in india we buy silver or gold during one of our festivals every year. Over many years we end up collecting a lot of precious metals. Wish I could buy your silver out here. Last year I bought two Ganesh idols weighing in at 500 grams each.
The festival of Dhanteras is around the corner. 😊
Fun fact: 11% of worlds gold is held by Indian women.
@@sreetips wish I knew about this cheap gold when I was living in Atlanta in 2006/2007. Had just got married and we moved on H1B. Could have in fact migrated permanently but we decided to raise family back home.
I can't stop watching, keep up the good work kind sir.
