That's one way of anchoring a vertical plate. I used self tapping bugle screws screwed in at compound angles. By the time the Cob has shrunk and dried around those bugle heads your plate isnt going anywhere. Cob is insanely tough once it dries out. As long as you use plenty of straw it holds screws really well too. For a plate that size i would use six bugles. Two at the top and bottom, two in the middle. 4" is a good length.
I'm a fan of 'gringo' blocks for attaching my rough bucks in adobe and rammed earth ! Just as easy and those puppies aren't going/moving anywhere ! They would/could work just as well in cob if shaped rite !
I was thinking about using reclaimed windows and purchasing used ones of various shapes. What about framing an arch shaped window, or some otherwise round or unusual shape?
Did I see dovetails in those window joints? If so, they wouldn't be visible when the window's installed. :( I've seen quite a few videos where people just install the frames directly into the cob with nails or wire as anchors fastened to the frame. I could see the inherent problems with not having proper trimmers/double plate frames around a window. Cool video, man!

Good system, thanks for the tip!
I can see this working well for other types of earthen construction.
Thanks a bunch 😁
Thank you so much!
