glad I found this vid. eventually after several years of scarce info on the net. Have a 1412 but the horses bolted with the Turbo leaving the Gate block open. More as a curiosity for that great box. 4 speeds clutchless - where did Farmers go wrong in not keeping the Marque going? You say NOT to keep the lever in 4th, ... I get that but I aalways undestood from Day 1, that it was an "automatic" and would climb thru' the gears - like a car , dependent upon load. Aaye, there's no Fluid flywheel but don't modern tractor boxes also climb as required or Skip a gear ? Anyway, thanks for posting.
its a semi automatic box - it'll not change dependent on load on its own , if you go from 1 straight to 4 - or leave the lever in 4 it'll attempt to change to 4 as quickly as possible and that's what puts undue stress on the box, and it'll warp the clutches and that's what knackers them , its not like a powershift or cvt everything in it is sequential so the minute you use the clutch drive stops it loses pressure and the box defaults to 1 so if u left it in 4 it would generally start 1 - grab each of the gears for a fraction of a second bang bang bang till it gets to 4 n that toasts it
Whats your hydra-shift fault- ? whirring in 3rd? ... had my 1594 hydra-shift in bits and i've got a bit of a mod in mine... mines doesnt default to 1 when u press the clutch mines will pick away in any gear, previous owner modded mine with a priority feed from the tractors hydrauic pump to the sequence valve so it'll stay in whatever gear i put the hydashift in when i clutch... worth mentioning as far as fault finding goes, its worth checking the main drive clutch isnt slipping , as a normai hydra-shifts pump is driven from the gearbox , and wont make required pressure for changes/drive if main clutch is slipping :-) mine slipped between 3 and 4 because of a bad gearbox input shaft seal contaminating the clutch and would only slip occasionally when warm under load.... ex db mechanic stall tested mine- basically half throttle check every gear in every range n use brakes to stall it selecting as you go, started slipping in every gear under stress n the smell of burning oil on clutch pinpointed the fault :-)
Jim McKechnie I here that Jimmy man that's pure truth I got a 1964 4wd turbo she slips well with 8g on the hour clock she is still an honest case I mean db no case Ummm... Haha
Towards the end of the video you mentioned "why not run the tractor without it" I'm thinking of buying a 1394, but hydra shift frightens me! Is there an override? Good video, thanks.
I have since heard that you can use the gearbox as standard and all the hydrashift does is give you a lazy clutchless option to move through the box in the range you have selected.
If the tachometer still works, one or more of the little gears that run it have failed. If neither the tach or the hour meter works, the cable is likely broken.
Sebastian Hibbert does your tractor break 3rd gear when your pulling hard with it? Our old one would stick then break in 3rd when it was on the chopper drinking gallons of diesel a day. We ended up changing it for a case 956xl and a case stockman 885 so a nice upgrade.

Hi do have have 2 take the oil out b4 u take that filter out. Thanks
Hi. The 12-speed partial power shift is in case 1640 is same like hydrashift? If no what is the difference? Thanks.

My hydra shift thing is near to the gear stick and control panel
If the hydra shirt goes thru all the gear perfect and does not run away on hill does this mean it perfect

John Ohren same here looking at 1494 but hearing this scares me to buy it as it look like this could be a expensive repair

John Ohren but will you still have the same speed in 3 gear range 4 then 3 gear range 1
I'm not sure, Jonathon. My neighbour has one, but it's not on the road at the moment
Did you guys buy them?
Does your 1394 start shaking in a high gear downhill? Anybody that can relate
Maybe the cab mounts might be worth looking.
@@ryan71954 nah, it has to do something with the transmission
My 1985 Case 1294 has a stuck hour gauge on the tachometer, what do you think could be the reasons for it to stop working ? 🤔

@@username.858 the tachometer works but not the hour meter 🤔
@@username.858 is it possible to replace the gears in the hourmeter or do i need to replace the whole tachometer ? 🤔
@@lucasbergfors9446 As long as you find replacements, that should be possible
@@username.858 if it's possible to replace the gears where should i go to get replacement ones ? 😄
where is the drain plug to be able to pull that filter out?
Directly under the steering wheel, dead centre. Careful coz all the gearbox oil comes out
@@plumbteam in the cab? at what oil to replace it?
Apologies, under the tractor - catch the oil, need at least 2 20 litre containers
Sebastian Hibbert do you know what the gearbox oil is? Regular ATF? Or something special you need to source from case?

Hi I have 1394 and I problem with the brakes 🤔
Does it make a horrible sound?
@@asbjrnlunde6031 no
lesforets18200i mean when you brake
tighten the bands..😄😄
janet gould never works apparently......
