- In conclusion, Matchpoint Tennis Championships ends up feeling like a game of two halves. On one hand, the on-court experience of trading a flurry of shots with your opponent is great - all thanks to a simple but effective control scheme and formidable opponents that will test your understanding of these mechanics.
On the other hand though, everything supporting that basic structure like the career mode and training mini-games and player roster- all end up feeling barebones. Topping it all off is a lack of support for additional game modes like doubles tennis alongside a visual and audio presentation that leaves a lot to be desired. In its current state, Matchpoint Tennis Championships is a decent game but not one that you'd want to really sink your teeth into. - Ігри

I've played around 3hrs on Xbox Series X and I've already gotten 75% of the achievements! Once you get used to the aiming system the game becomes incredibly easy, even on the highest difficulty setting! Taking the aim marker off again makes little to no difference as its pretty easy to get used to it. Its on Game Pass so its good for an easy 1000G. Not sure if its worth buying on Playstation for the Platinum though...probably better waiting for a deep sale!
Missing Virtua Tennis on Sega Dreamcast. That was a tennis game!

Yes, loved that game, easliy the best tennis game I've played.
Im a veteran tennis player so i pretty much started bagelling semi pro computers with my 25 rated mook within a tournament or two. AI is pretty easy to beat with just good tennis basic instinct, i.e. hit your rally balls deep and cross court, attack short balls either down the line deep and flat or short crosscourt with topspin, know when it's appropriate to approach, stay back, or hit on the rise from no man's land when on the offensive, aim your serve in between their legs if you are getting creamed by returns.

I’m trying to like it. But it’s just so dull and boring. Graphics are horrible. The courts look so uninviting. There’s also no atmosphere. And gameplay seems to have no variety. It’s just ping pong not really tennis. Very tiny roster. Poor presentation. Poor gameplay.
Whats the difference between ping pong and tennis??? Sounds and looks like the same sport.

I've heard mixed reviews, from ours rather easy due to pinpoint accuracy of baseline strokes and serves. You kinda have to go out of your way to hit it in the doubles, and even if you do try and hit it out, the AI will hit it before the bounce lol
lol i keep hearing that but damn i struggle to even hit in . the movement and aim are the same stick, so dumb, so if im running right and try to cross it well to bad my stick was aiming right at some point so it picks up on that and sends it flying out of bounds sideline. try to hit it down the middle from the left side youd think maybe tapping right once would get it there, nope its sent flying out
The shitty thing about a game like this is that tennis games are pretty niche, so when you go online you are generally facing people who REALLY fucks with tennis and will dust you lol

I like it, it's not bad. DEFINITELY NOT THE BEST, but it's a good game to kick back, relax and play for a few. I see myself sinking a few hours on this game. I ended up buying full ace tennis (it's proclaimed to be the best tennis game ever made and some people say it's just as good as top spin 4) and it's mod friendly. Check out some gameplay. Looks amazing.

Why everybody keep shitting on this game? I’m confused. It’s not a bad game at all. I mean it could use more features for career mode but it’s not a bad game. IMO.
I did the tutorial and still sucked afterwards. Didn't win many points tonight over quite a few matches. Still had fun. I agree though that the presentation and content in the game could be better. Btw didn't pay much for it though as I am getting to play this through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Once you get used to the controls, this game is a lot of fun to play. It's worth every penny. The graphics may not be the best (yet) but game play is fantastic. I've had lots of awesome rally's that got the heart pumping. You can make it more challenging by selecting pro mode but start out in armature mode until you start wining consistently. There was a recent software update that's made the game even better. I hope Torus Games continues to make improvements to this very addicting tennis game.
It bothers me so much that all the courts are pretty much mirrored. Textures - details and wear on both sides are mirrored, which ends up looking lazy.
Played the Demo on Steam, passed the Tutorial and rather liked this. The movements, animations. Overall feel is more alive than AO Tennis 2 (which I love). Ballkids actually run around. Controls are similar to most tennis games. All I'm waiting to see is female character creation to make a final decision to buy or not.
It was ok for a few hours but got bored after awhile. I miss the virtua tennis games!
This game just made me miss topspin. I remember playing the topspin2 demo on the OG Xbox. Remember the OXM and the Demo discs they sent with the magazine? I lived on those demo discs.

It is way way way way to easy. I've played for 2 hours and I win all the matches with no difficulty. I even put it on the highest difficulty but it makes no difference.
Cant we just get Top Spin 4 on gamepass please!?! Over a decade older than this game and far FAR superior! Character graphics, gameplay, court graphics, career mode....it was awesome!
Virtua tennis and topspin were the best . Just wish they would do a topspin 5 already

Wow this game is so bad cant even create a character that looks OK most of em look like Wayne Rooney online is bad too you can't even see the player stats before starting a game plus we're is the tennis players tim henmann a legend lol can't even win Wimbledon yet you have to pay 4 him

How on earth can you give this a 6?! 6!!! Its barely a 2. Far too easy scripted animations and just unpolished twoddle. This would have been rubbish 20 years ago. Surely you have a responsibility to your viewers to protect them from spending hard earned money on this garbage especially at times when money is so tight. If this is a 6 then I'm the Pope. You hit every shot like a layer guided winner and can sim every game and still win the Wimbledon final 6-0 6-0 in your first try. It's broken! 6 out of ten is a ridiculous score for this what on earth!??!?!
