I have been shooting my stock Ruger 10/22 for 40 years. I have always been satisfied with the accuracy. Typically shooting less than 100 yards.

My old Ruger target that I've had for 15 years consistently shoots dime sized groups at 50 yards with CCI Blazer... seems to be the absolute most consistent ammo for mine. Nice little rifle.

This rifle looks and sounds really interesting one, but here in Finland the price difference between regular 10/22 carbine and this competition is huge. Carbine comes with 3-9x40 scope and costs 550usd. This competition one is 1450usd. Even if i install BX trigger and auto bolt release the carbine is still like 780 usd only.. I don't think that being able to use silencer, having better stock and better bolt are worth that 670USD. It would almost double the price. Plus you need also get scope for competition version so even with cheap scope price difference is huge. Sure you have to calculate for what use u need it. For serious competition shooting get better one, but if you wanna have fun and practice on your own i think Carbine with scope is much better deal with my prices.

The 10/22 in his hand is $850, the model just below this, essentially the same but with a synthetic Stock is $750. You will not build a custom Ruger 10/22 for those prices. I'm thinking a fully custom is going to be about $1000 to $1400 depending on how far you want to take it. So, those two Ruger Models seem like pretty good value to me.

Price had been increased to around $1,050... I paid $735 for mine (same model shown) when it first came out. My only complaint was the weight. I fixed it with an Ultra LW Kidd barrel. Shaved almost 2 lbs off, from ~6.0 to 4.2. not mentioned, but the stock barrel has an unusual third screw on top of the barrel holding it to the receiver. Nice touch Ruger! I think it was to lock in the free float barrel.

    • @blueboyblue
      @blueboyblue 2 роки тому +1

@@shakyzeg - - My prices were taken recently from an actual dealers, not the Mfgr Suggested Price. Even 6 pounds is not that heavy, but with a bull barrel, even a short one, the weight is definitely going to be forward. The KIDD Ultra Light Barrel runs about $240, and that would certainly make the Rifle less Front Heavy. $240 does not seem like an excessive upgrade to the Rifle.

Your videos are excellent! I have both the CZ 457 Varmint and the Ruger in. Sporter model. I’ve owned a 10-22 since. They came out in the 60s. They are both very accurate rifles. A wise man once told me the the smaller your point of aim is, the smaller your group will be! You can’t aim at the center of a 1.5 inch circle and hope you will get great groups. Your introducing the possibility of 1.5 inches of play in your aim. Try aiming at the point on your dot where 6 o’clock would be then you will have clear definition of an exact target where the two colors meet. You will also be able to see all of your target in your sights! Happy shooting.

I have this rifle. It has two accurized features. The receiver rear tang can be screwed down. That's easy to see. What isn't noticable is the third screw holding the barrel in place. Look straight down the top of the barrel, it's recessed, and not easily seen. It further secures the barrel for accuracy.
I only found it when I tried to change out the barrel. The new barrel worked, but wasn't as good. I changed back.

Ruger had to do something with the 1022. Their competition is making them better than they are. The quality fell off about the same time companies like TC started making them with significant improvements. They should use that receiver and have a built in peep sight on all of them now. It doesn't cost any more to make the receiver in a better configuration, and people will be glad to buy Ruger again.

I had the same feeding issues out of the same model and Ruger determined the barrel was out of spec and needed very slight chamfering. I could tell this by the number of misdeeds and lead shavings across several brands. Now it is very accurate with a number of brands including CCI mini mags.

Enjoyed your review of this top-of-the-line 10-22, Dave. The rifle was appealing in terms of both accuracy and appearance, with the exception of the adjustable cheekpiece; an important feature for competitive shooters, but esthetically un-appealing to me as a recreational shooter.

I use a 10/22 with a 2moa red dot for club level rimfire two gun. It easily out shoots most of the guys using S&W AR.22’s . I also use a mark four as my handgun choice , bot with the same red dot and both give flawless performance with great reliability. Think I will look into one of these custom shop rifles next.

That is a pretty gun for sure. I personally love all of my Ruger 10/22s, and my Target model with the Primary Arms ACSS 22lr scope is my favorite. It’s so easy to nail targets out to 100 yards with that scope. My only wish is to get a stock with a better check weld. I’ve looked at some aftermarket options but I don’t want to drill into my gun. ☹️ For now I’m super happy shooting it as is. But this gun you’re showing is a pretty gun.

Ruger needs to release a model "2022" and use these improvements that the aftermarket has brought. The rear locking lug is much-needed. I hate that my action rocks a little bit in my stock. The integrated Rail and Auto bolt release are a must. I wish there was a way for them to design a side mounted push-button bolt catch. I would pay $450 for a basic 10/22 Sporter with these features that I would have to buy anyway

Using high velocity rounds for accuracy testing seems to be heading in the wrong way , they do make s/a target ammo. So are we testing ammo or testing the rifle. Makes a difference. Of course, using a 12x bushnell sort of kills the whole thing too.

Rumblings are that Ruger will be making the 336, the 1894, and the 1895. Those same rumblings say that the Marlin 22 line is going to be on hold for quite a while.
I can understand that when it comes to the model 60, but I was wondering about the 39-A until it was pointed out that Henry pretty well has the lever 22's sewn up.

I purchased one of these rifles about 4 weeks ago with the hopes of using it for NRL22. It comes with a 30 MOA rail, so I figured it should be accurate enough. I WAS WRONG! Mine does cycle. But it is not accurate at all! I and a shooting/hunting buddy have tried CCI SV, Norma TAC, Mini Mags HPs and jackets, Aguila Super, Blazer, Mark-1, Eley semi-auto match, RWS 100, SK Semi-Auto Match, SL Long Range Match, and SK Pistol Match. Not one bullet will group under a 1.5” or even close to it at 50 yards. Some of the brands would stack 2 rounds. Some 3. But would have at least 2-3 flyers that would open the groups up to 1.75” to 3”, or more! 100 yards accuracy is not even worth talking about with this so-called Custom Shop rifle! I was able to occasionally hit a 12” steel plate at 175. But I had a lot of misses as well! If that target was a 6” plate, I would have only hit it a few times as my rounds were all over the 12” plate!
It’s going back to Ruger in a few days. Some FYI if you’re thinking about picking one up for yourself…
    1. Not accurate. Might do well for Steel Challenge. But why a 30 MOA rail???
    2. There is no Ruger Custom Shop. I was told during a call to Ruger about this rifle they just take rifles off the line and add a few parts to them. Stamp them with “Custom Shop”, And away they go!
    3. The wooden stock is cheap and brittle! Mine has chipped away just from removing the action!!
    4. The wooden stock is not pillar bedded. It looks like it is. It has brass insert. But they stop at the bottom of the stock and do not go all the way into the stock!
    5. And last but not least. This action will not take after market barrels! It has a 3rd bolt at the top of the receiver just under the 30 MOA rail. There is a recess/groove removed in the barrel for this bolt. No one makes a barrel set up for this receiver!!! So, you’re stuck with a 16” barrel.
I now realize that instead of buying this rifle from Ruger, I should have collected the parts and just built my own 10/22!!!
    RLTW!

First, it's AH-ghee-lah, NOT uh-GWEE-luh! The eagle head part of the logo should give you a clue that "Aguila" is the Spanish word for "eagle." *grins*
Second, back in the early '90s, I took a stock 10/22 carbine (I think that was the only model then), replaced the light barrel with a straight .920 21" bull barrel, slicked up the action and trigger, then cut back (past the groove for the band), sanded, and stained the stock, which I weighted with BBs and wood glue to balance the rifle. It weighs over 10 lbs but it doesn't move on the bags.
30+ years and dozens of 8-yr-old kids later (it's the rifle they all learned to shoot first), I can still go to the matches at 50, 100, and 200 yds and beat everyone except the few guys with Anschutz bolt guns.
I just started playing with long distance and I can get out to 300, but at ~42 MOA, this Riton scope is maxed out. For 400 yds, my ballistics chart says I need ~63 MOA, so I'm going to get a 20 MOA pic rail and see what happens. Maybe a lil' holdover? *smiles*

I have the older version of the factory 10/22 Target rifle with the spiral hammer forged barrel.
CCI Mini Mags are a no go, as the chamber is too short.
I shot a couple bricks of Ely 10X ammo (Olympic use ammo) and routinely get dime sized groups at 100 yards, not 50 yards per your test. Ely 10X at the time was over $14.95 a box of 50 or $100 a brick.
For shits and giggles, I tried some 40 grain Agulia Interceptors, (both solids and hollow points) and got the same dime sized groups @ 100 yards. The Interceptors are hotter than 10X is, and the price was 1/3 of the 10X pricing.
I have a Leupold 6.5-20 scope instead of the 12X zoom you're using.
Try some of the Agulia Interceptors, you'll be surprised at how accurate they are.

CCI Standard is my go-to. Better in my rifle than Ely or Norma Match. Gotta feed it what it likes.

Aguila is Eagle in Spanish...pronounced A gee la (the gee is a soft g not a hard g) , not A gwe la. Other than that, good video

So they give it a very nice wooden stock, then put that plastic abomination of a cheek rest on it?
To me that completely destroys the esthetic qualities of the rifle.
    Something appropriate in wood, yes.
    That eyesore? No.
