My first encounter with a victorinox is from when i was 6years old, my dad always haves one with him and teached me everything about his sak. Now im turning 32 and i have a lot of products of Victorinox... and i will be teaching my kids the same way my father did. Victorinox gave me memories that are close to my heart. Thank you!
as someone who owns at least a dozen Vics and uses 2 or 3 daily, this does not speak to me. That hipster does not speak to me and I find it insulting, that Victorinox wastes their money on this kind of marketing. Also, if you need a hat indoors, check your heating.
yes, and i also would like to point out that there is a lot of youtubers that are much more in tune with the brand and consumers, in all my years watching videos about saks and going through forums, i never heard about this “digital influencer”. I could be wrong but I think victorinox could had chosen a more familiar person to advertise this awesome product
@@omarkharnivall2439 They should have used Felix Immler for the video but maybe he refused as his go to knife is the Huntsman not some over expensive replica of a relic from the past!
Comment #2: I don’t understand Victorinox’s marketing decisions. Who is this guy and how would someone associate his image with Victorinox? There are so many better representatives in the knife community. This ‘designer’ doesn’t have anything to do with the brand. I bet he doesn’t even own one 😂
Yeah this vid seems to have been aimed at a younger demographic and/or hipsters. But if you look on the Victorinox AG yt channel they have a much better vid with Carl Elsener himself narrating, they released that upload 5 days ago.
@Philip B. Kelley I expect that to meet the mandatory political correctness quota they were obliged to have a representative from the men in pink tights community.
From what the packaging looks like I can already tell it’s going to be a pricey model. I’ll stick to my other Victorinox knives, which are used nearly daily.
Yeah I guess it's going to be around the £500 mark, I think it's already been priced at 6 or 7 hundred dollars in the USA. Of course part of me wants one but I know that if I bought it I wouldn't want to carry or use it. Same goes for the old Soldier models which are so sought after with the year of manufacture being people's birth year, these fetch over £100 a piece. Better off just buying a Pioneer which is the same, or like me a Farmer or Farmer X which has added tools. Also I rotate those in my EDC with Celidor models, love em all.
@@simonh6371 well said...I guess this replica wasnt made for all sak lovers cause not everyone can afford it and that is a shame😒. But what a stunning model😲
@@Oksimoron-zy9sk That's true, I can't really afford it and won't buy one as I'm not a collector as such, although I have a few SAKs, but these are all users, being either in my EDC rotation or taken on camping trips. On the other hand there are SAKs for every budget and if you shop around you can get them for ridiculously low prices. Here in the UK you can get a Waiter, Walker, Tourist or Bantam for less than the price of a pack of cigs! Or a Camper, Hiker or even Farmer for the price of a pack of cigs, a 6 pack of Heineken and a coffee. Pretty damn good value if you ask me! Or is it just that cigs, beer and coffees are overpriced?
I am a lifelong SAK collector & EDC user ( I have around 170 SAKs ) , but I give Victorinox an "F" for Fail in reissuing this knife as a replica . It shows just how much the management of Victorinox have become stale & bereft of new ideas & are trading on their brand name rather than producing something new & innovative to celebrate the 125 year Anniversary. They are continuing the trend of flops , first by abandoning the annual 58mm decorative scaled classic SD's range of 10 new knives & instead pushing the new overpriced 58mm premium Alox classics range, second - repeating the 2021 Alox Limited Edition Trio fiasco by abandoning the 84mm Alox Cadet & instead issuing the 130mm Alox Hunter monstrosity & then repeating the mistake yet again in 2022 and adding insult to injury with an unjustified jump in prices & an absolutely dreadful " Thunder Grey " colour scheme & lastly the so called new Cadet Swiss Spirit 2022 which is not actually an Alox scaled Cadet but a ghastly plastic scaled rip-off . Try producing something new, maybe a new SAK range with Micarta or G10 grips in the 84mm , 91mm & 111mm ranges that gets rid of the useless can opener & cap lifter layer & uses the Combo tool paired with a small Clip point secondary blade & has thumb stud opening & if possible both slip joint & blade locking versions ( using a slide lock if possible ). I will not be buying this replica knife, I want something new & innovative not a limited use throwback to a bygone era!
I agree that this anniversary knife is a joke and they can make more durable scales that don’t break after single dropping on the floor. But if you want to remove can opener and cap lifter then I have to ask why on earth would you want to do that? They have so much usefulness over useless corkscrew. Removing corkscrew and giving Philips screwdriver in few models as additional new models would be a very good move instead of removing that Philips screwdriver over the years. Fish scaler with useless coarse ruler and that unfortunate corkscrew. The rest is Ok Other topic are these dumb grip scales that come off over time what shouldn’t ever happen in so good brand.
@@JohnDoe-el5ir Happy Saturday, In my experience the Combo tool serves both functions better than separate tools & I am one of those SAK aficionados who consider the Wenger style Claw like can opener a far better can opener than the current Victorinox model & I have never found the little screwdriver tip on it to be of any use at all . Regarding the Philips screwdriver I like it as an in-line tool such as on the Spartan Lite, Climber Lite & 111mm Outrider but find it of very limited use as a back layer tool on my Super Tinker, Deluxe Tinker & Wenger Tradesman, its simply hard to access anything with it. I like the Corkscrew not for opening wine bottle corks ( as I seldom drink ) but for boring screw holes in wood or through leather, untying knots & most of all its useful as a tool holder for the Fire Ant ferro rod & a tinder spiral or a Mini-eyeglasses screw driver & a tinder spiral if you choose to replace the toothpick with a Firefly ferro rod. As for the Fish scaler, I agree its useless, a neighbor who used to fish & is a SAK user told me that he actually used the metal saw on the mountaineer for scaling fish
@@stevesinclair4159 there are different scenarios and once I had a case that this screwdriver on the back of Vic has better served than straight one. It was a tight space, too little space for a straight screwdriver. If I had a straight on Vic I would have to use it 90 degrees opened an rotating would be also problematic. I used Tinker for many years and it was useful in the most cases anyway and doesn’t add additional thick layer. But the straight one is superior for sure.
@@JohnDoe-el5ir I just checked over the 3 SAK's I have with an in-line Philips, on the Spartan Lite & Climber Lite the Philips has a 90 Degree stop , on the 111mm Outrider it doesn't have a 90 Degree stop but it has the long neck Philips . I have only used the Philips on my Spartan Lite to turn screws & I even managed to use it on a Torx head screw ( normally I use one of the Torx screw heads on my CyberTool M or a hand held battery powered electric screwdriver with various screw heads )
I've just bought my first SAK. I only needed something to open boxes and bottles with so I went with the manager. I always find myself needing a blade, scissors and a bottle opener. The nail file is redundant but the addition of the pen is what sold it for me. Anyway, I like the idea of Victorinox releasing a replica of the original knife; however, their limited run just makes no sense. Had they released the original as an actual knife available for the foreseeable future it would have sold immensely.

I'd love to own it but I'd be afraid to carry it so pretty pointless, I've plenty of other great SAKs which I carry and use and can buy other great models for a fraction of the price this will cost. Still I'm happy that they released it and I'm sure they'll sell them all quickly.
