- I'm joined by Gerard today as we tackle the Bath road!
One of the first places that thousands of tourists will see as they come off of the planes at Heathrow Airport, which is just a stone's throw away from this unbelievable location I'm at today.
It was actually Gerard who told me about this place, and I kind of wish he didn't now!! haha
Definitely one of the worst places I've ever cleaned, and to be so close to Heathrow Airport is really disheartening!

I grew up opposite a national park and the threat of bushfires was always there in summer. My parents always picked up any glass they found in the bush to reduce the risk of a fire starting.

That's just a simple way to keep a country clean and have the job done by the population. I call it a win-win situation.

Chilli, you and your friend did a great transformation. At the end of each video you should kindly say, "Please, don't litter." Maybe, maybe one or two people will take your advice and think twice next time they throw things on the ground. I pick up trash in my city so I understand people don't use trash bins anymore. Thanks for being a great asset to your community.

Unbelievable effort Chilli and Gerard. I think you are correct in suggesting it is partly a litter hotspot but predominantly a dumping ground for whoever has allegedly been "maintaining" that section of footpath and carpark. Definitely the craziest place I have seen you litter-pick in so far. A lasagne of organic debris and litter. Well done for addressing such an awful spot.

Well. I hardly know what to say. I'll echo everything, that was completely epic, you're amazing, so much trash, and to think it wasn't even historic... i really love seeing Gerard, and to do teamwork on that was definitely the right way to go. Not just because it needed an army, but because it keeps you both cheerful and motivated instead of discouraged and exhausted dealing with that. Cheers to both of you!!!

Looks like someone flytipped garden greenwaste on top of the pile of trash. Oh... tell me you're an alcoholic without saying you're an alcoholic. That is INSANE!!!! Gerard is super fast at picking. Wow. You both did a tremendous job. Huge improvement! If ever there was a dire need for council bins, it's in that location. Just crazy. 😮

Dear Chilli and helpers , what an utter disgrace this is. However I’m not surprised because a friend of mine years ago now told me all you can see when landing at Heathrow is mountains of litter, I’ve never been there so now I no it’s sadly true . Well done guys and thank you xxx
That's pretty true actually, a lot of the worst areas for litter do actually surround Heathrow!! Hayes, Southall, Hounslow, Feltham & Staines!! All have awful litter problems!

Yea, although weirdly, most of those Black bags were filled with collected litter, I never understand that!
A ‘well done’ seems to be rather inadequate in this instance. Thank you for all the time and effort all 3 of you took to clear this mess. I hope that the cardboard etc is reported to the Council and removed. If it is on private land perhaps photos should be taken and sent to the Management Company/owners. What Gerrard said is very true. Rubbish attracts rubbish, via Morons.

JUst came back from the supermarket here in The Netherlands returning cans and plastic bottles which all have a deposit on them.

I’m watching this for the umpteenth time….. a very good one! Chili, you are always so obliging!!! Always helping others look good. I don’t think you are even aware of it. Your “name” wasn’t on as many bags as had you had someone to take rake out and set in front of you the cans and bottles you did. And tote bags of the others bagging…. You are a HONEST-TO-GOD team player!
There was only one thing I’d have suggested to reduce that pile down to solid ground and that was to separately bag the leaves to get them the heck out of there because the culprit who is creating the pile hides his dumpings amongst the leaves …. Probably covers what he dumps with them!
The reason I agree with you 100% that the pile is a majority of business owners dumping stuff there is because there were few if any bottles you had to empty contents!!! That is what a bar would do before discarding them !!!! Passersby flip them away on the way to and from their vehicles because they can’t or don’t want to finish what’s in them AND they fear there might not be another chance to get rid of it before getting in or out of their parked car as they leave for the airport… hands full…. Your thoughts.
The UK has strict anti litter laws but doesn’t enforce them. So no point in having them!
Problem is whoever is responsible for enforcement is being paid for nothing. Another example of poor management 😢

I hope there will be a significant change when the whole UK implement a bottle and can return policy. The Pfandsystem in Germany changed a lot. Unfortunately the behavior of not feeling responsible for an action is growing everywhere around the world.
This isn't just sad but a real catastrophe. We are trashing our world and there's no planet B‼️

That's truly the worst littering I've ever seen anywhere in my life
Lost for words, what an appalling mess that place was. Yes, some bins would help but tbh bins wouldn't cope with that lot. Surely the government needs to adopt the aforementioned deposit system for glass bottles,cans and plastic bottles by way of a machine which pays by weight. Not only would the users of the bottles benefit by depositing their rubbish, many more 'wombles' would be out on the streets picking up trash to earn a bit of cash. Winner winner chicken dinner. Unfortunately, our hapless politicians couldn't find their arses with both hands!

it on the pavement and the bin is only a metre away😡

First don't know if you noticed but I have dubbed thee Sir Chilli :) I am truly at a loss for words :( I have NEVER ever seen anything like that in my life. Clearly who ever is responsible for the yardwork has just been dumping the green waste on top of the other waste for YEARS. Why the landlord has never done anything about it is insane to me, unless they never check the place or they are the ones doing it. I think you pulled more out of there then the canal!!
Right at the beginning of the video: if the council put few recycling bins and empty them ones a week already would make a massive difference.

Wow, you two did an amazing job cleaning up that area! I am a bit shocked how many bags you filled, so glad you and your other pickers are out there to keep your community clean. I sure wish I could be there and I would pick up all the beer bottle caps. I use them to make crafts. Good job.

Incomprehensible to me.Why do people litter? The most common reasons for littering are comfort, laziness, indifference, carelessness and lack of awareness. Some people litter the environment because it makes them feel cool, others out of thoughtlessness. Some are too lazy to walk three meters to the trash can.

Most Australian states have a return and earn scheme on bottles and cans. You get 10c back. Should introduce that in UK. Would clear a lot of items!
Bottles and cans are definitely exciting to find on a litter pick when you have the 10 cent scheme (and the bottles and cans are recent enough and still have labels).
Maybe a couple of rubbish bins in that area would help. And anywhere people tend to litter.

Makes me ashamed to be English and what a first impression for travellers from Heathrow to be greeted with. Has anyone any ideas as to why England has become such a dump ?

OH my goodness! And here in Rhode Island (USA) I thought it was bad. Yes here in RI we can get 5 cents for each can. Bottles I am not sure of. I have seen many homeless/drug addicted people going around in the trash on the street picking them up to get money. I thought of another suggestion for you. How about if you step on the cans that will give you more room in the bag 🤔🤔 I wish I could come and help!

@@chilli_pips You continue to inspire me to do short( 30-50 minute ) litter picks . Today I spotted some litter outside the Post Office and started there, then glanced across the street, so I continued there. I use a heavy duty shopping bag with loop handles. Then I recycle the bottles at home. This way I can use the bag over and over. It hit 88° early, but ½ of my picking was in the shade! Afterwards when driving away I spotted litter l missed. It almost feels like every other square foot contains some litter. *There's just No Limit to the litter, but you know this fact much better than I. Maybe all bushes near walkways should be replaced with grass. Thanks for all you do - SUPER ⭐ STAR!
The vapes can be put in battery recycling boxes. My local shop and supermarkets accept them.
