Awesome video!!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing!! My B&S had a sump gasket leak, this was a great step-by-step! In reassembly, the pan wouldn’t drop into place-You pointing out that the governor needed to be set just right was what I was missing, I don’t think I’d have caught that without your video!!! Cheers!!!!
Yeah I started using fully synthetic oil after I watched a video a long time ago and a guy said he put fully synthetic oil in all of his mowers. Lol I've never had a problem
The part that you said "just pulls right off" and that "it should have a key in it" is the part where the blade connects to. How do we remove that part if it's stuck tight in there? can we use a hammer? What do you recommend? Thank for your help.
@GabrielEmerald777 it would be best to use like a rubber mallet. Make sure you spray it with some penetrating oil like WD-40 or blaster it'll eat away some of the rust so it's easier to come off if you're going to use a metal Hammer I would use a small block of wood. To hit the wood not the middle. You don't want to bend it.
@@JOATD Thank you sir. A different question regarding the flywheel. Does the flywheel on a briggs and startton push mower SPIN clock wise or counter clockwise when looking at the flywheel from the top? Forgive the dumb question but I'm a noob when it comes to these things...
@@GoldenCup888 okay this question is kind of difficult to answer. When looking down at the deck of the lawn mower, from above the flywheel turns the exact same way as the mower blade. Most mower blades turn clockwise looking down at the deck. If you're looking underneath the deck it will turn counterclockwise. To know which way your flywheel turns all you have to do is slowly pull the string to see which way the flywheel is turning but normally it is clockwise looking down at the deck
@@JOATD Thanks. Before I asked you the previous question, I tried slightly wacking the sides of adapter outward to try and make it come out. When that wasn't working I tried wacking the adapter in the opposite direction toward the crankcase, and then wacking it in the outward direction again but it didn't budge. One thing I noticed is that the shaft moved upwards a little bit when I was wacking the adapter in that direction. Now I'm afarid I might have damaged the seal on the top of the crankshaft? I'm not sure though. Is that a possibility? Thanks for your help.
If you look at page 7 number 7 in the owner's manual it tells you the torque for the blade. The owner's manual link is in my descriptions. 450 in lbs minimum, 600 in lbs maximum. Crankcase 7.5 foot pounds
When i tried to pull of the bottom plate like you did about 5.15 into the video , it didn't want to lift at all , i managed to prize it up about a quarter of an inch , that's it it won't move any more , i tried wooden wedges all round and nothing, so tried a little with cold chisels gently, and still nothing, it just will not lift , i didn't want to go to mad with the cold chisels because it might crack the case. so any ideas ?.
I have the same mower. the cover doesn't come off the same though.. As soon as you get the cover off about 3 inches, it locks-in-place. BS 550E Bought in 2018. not sure what the difference is.. I was wondering if you have any suggestions😟😟
I apologize for the late answer but I just noticed that this was in my comments never sent a notification. You will probably have to look to see if it has a retaining clip a e clip or a c-clip holding the case to the shaft
I apologize but I'm just receiving this message. I just so happen to be going through my comments. But to answer your question if I understand correctly. No there's no oil pump to lub the Pistons in this particular motor.

@jjames5475 thank you for the positive comment. I really appreciate it. I'm glad that my video was of interest to you happy to know it could help
Hell of a video. Thank you Dre. Fixing a leaking TB280 as well!
@@BenG123 no problem, I'm glad that my video could help you.
Thanks for the clear instructions. Fixed a lawmower i bought off marketplace. The seller forgot to mentioned it was leaking like a BP oil rig.
Yeah be careful when buying on Marketplace a lot of people will sell junk. But I'm glad that my video could help you to fix your problem

Awesome, awesome video! Thank you so much!
That’s gangsta. Good work
Thank you I'm glad that my video could help you
Excellent work and explanation how to.
Excellent video. Just did the same to mine. Was spitting oil out the side
Thank you I'm glad my video can help you. Yeah those oil leaks are no joke they spit oil everywhere.
Good video…and I never considered using full synthetic oil but it makes sense👍🏻

Did you pry all the way around the case like just keep going around the case until it lifts all the way up. I'm pretty sure it's just stuck on.
Put some penetrating oil on the shaft right where the plate in the shaft meets. It just needs a little lubrication in there
Just wanted to make sure it is the exact same mower correct
@@JOATD i tried that with the wooden wedges, and no luck. I'm just wondering if i get a large enough 3 pronged gear puller would do it ?.
@@JOATD i will try the penetrating oil and see if that does it . thank you for your advice.
The key is made into the blade adapter.
Common for sump gasket to leak like crazy
Yeah that's why I like Honda Motors I've never had a leak issue with a Honda motor.

He said right in video, the governor; aka the oil kicker.
The video is how to stop HIS oil leak, the shaft seal wasn't his problem, the sump seal was.
Thes videos always leave the important knowledge out videos are no good
@@SHANNABARNES-vf4cn in your opinion on this video what was left out
@@JOATD okay, the axle that the pulley slide on does the axle have too be in a certain position before putting the pulley back on?
