MK Trilogy for the N64 is the best to me. I played it so much with my old friends in the neighborhood. Yes the PSX version is better in terms of content, sound, etc. but this one is near and dear to me.
To me the PS1 version was the worst. There are so many lags and inaccuracy in the game. The music are the only good thing they got but even those got screw up by playing at the wrong stages.
Limited memory. In the early version, unmasked Sub-zero was in the n64 but he was then removed to save space and Johnny Cage made it. Look up the vids here. Some people got the early N64 version which had UMSZ and Kahn's Arena. I felt if MKT was released years later, they would had fitted the game. RE 2 ended up 64MB. MKT was only 12. At the time of its release, I heard N64 cartridges were limited to 16MB. The extra 4MB could had helped in some ways.
You don't even need to unlock ninja Smoke, just pick robot Smoke and hold Away, High Punch, High Kick, Block, and Run until the match starts. Robot Smoke will change into ninja Smoke just like in Ultimate MK3.

This version sounds cheap but the fact that it has no Loading Times and no limitations to the Shang Tsung morphs make it the best version for me.

I dont know why the N64 version got a smaller roster... (missing the unmasked Sub-Zero and the big 4 bosses) PS1 and Saturn ports FTW

Gameplay wise it's far smoother than the PS version. And none of that choppy loading.
