Jeep Hard Top Paint Repair using the Color N Drive Touch Up Paint System

After a week of owning my brand new 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4xE, I managed to scratch the nice, color-matched painted hard top. Not on a trail or off-road adventure but, from backing into my garage door when it was not fully open! After getting a quote to fix it for $400 from a local reputable body shop, I decided to search for a less-expensive, do-it-yourself option and came across the Color N Drive Touch Up Paint System. I just got that kind of touch-up kit for my Subaru Crosstrek. I applied it like you did. I’m going to touch up more periodically, as well as wet-sand and wax.

Yeah, I probably could have added more and kept polishing it down until it looked like it almost wasn't there. I was amazed by how well they color matched!

Do they provide a primer before you put the paint on?

It did not come with a primer.

@@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI isn’t that crazy it didn’t come with a primer? Did you use a primer before you use the paint? My thinking is that if you don’t, you’re gonna have a problem with rust.

@@honestnewsnetI think the “correct n clear” bottle that they include, kind of preps the surface for the paint to adhere to it better. Making sort of a “primer” coating, if you will. This kit is designed for small chips and paint damage. The hard top on the Jeep was made of fiberglass, so I didn’t have to worry about any rust.
