This is why I miss the TV model. Many shows don’t get their footing in the first season but get better over time. Why spend movie budget money into things you’ll just cancel and write off later? Streaming’s going down a dark path lol
Exactly!! There are plenty of beloved shows that hit their stride on their second and even third season! And even if that doesn't make them rank high on a tier list next to succession or the bear it doesn't make them any less charming or important to people.
i know it's been said before, but i lost hope in this era of star wars when finn's arc was more or less squandered. it seems like the same thing is happening with every other spark of promise they keep showing. they can't follow through
It really showed they would sacrifice the fundamentals of fantasy writing to appease the racist fan base because what do you mean Finn said no to the 'Call of Adventure' within the first 10 minutes of the movie?
Admittedly, I have not seen the Acolyte primarily for the reason of anything with a little bit of depth gets canceled after S1. I also just find this era of MCU and StarWars visually boring due to how quickly they expect the CGI artists to produce the product in production. Everything is dark and gritty without serving a purpose and the actors with a darker skin tone suffer the most from it.
To me, Ever since the rise of the loud fanboys at the beginning of the sequel era, I noticed how alot of them were outwardly bigoted and racist to fans who were either POC or Gay. Back then, I was a 17 year old mexican american kid who is excited to see a new star wars for my generation....instead what I got is how those who gatekeep the masses on who can participate in the Fandom. And how those small loud bigoted groups got the final say before, during and after the sequel movies were released. This is a problem. And Disney is a fool for even listening to these old ass dudes who still live in their mother's basement. I just wanted to enjoy star wars in peace but they really made me mad and nowadays, playing it safe is apparently a good thing even though Risks are always welcomed. Plus I worry that the Fandoms I'm in that isn't marvel or star wars but still disney, this will spread. They really ain't slick, They are now subtle and I feel for you when you I don't know my place in star wars.
Yeah I think I’m done, it’s not just them cancelling this show just overall I’m not excited for anything coming up. Mando is fine, but I’m a little over it and it’s not all that. One thing I can say about George Lucas is he did what he wanted to do and didn’t care about fan backlash, which is why we got clone wars series after the bad movie reception and look how that turned around.
I'm sorry you're getting the same rage comments the show got overall on your honest critique of the series and the way was it handled by Disney and toxic fans.
I left star wars after they changed where the story was going after the backlash of the first Rey movie, I don’t even go back and watch the old movies and shows that I loved as a kid go ahead and make your movies for your small demographic that sits around hating everyone I hope it works out well
Inclusion is not the issue, there is room to tell unique stories in this world but creating plot holes and shittily written stories is not the best way to show companies that it is both profitable and quality content. They spent an entire season showing that Jedis are terrible at the height of the honorable culture.
The show was mid at best. The flaws and swiss cheese story didn't deserve a second season. It failed because it was poorly structured and executed. It's not soley pissy fanboys
@@anbuookami13 I think the show’s flaws could be pointed to Disney over anything else. It needed more episodes, and more time to grow. A lot of shows don’t really get their footing in S1
@@ourcrazystupidpodcastit had an 8 episode run which is already passed the 6 that was standard for most of their shows. The creators and Disney did not respect the lore whatsoever which pissed off me and many others. It’s a messy over complicated story that wasted their budget on ridiculous things.
I don't think people are biggot just because they disagree. Disney is losing because because they chose cheap activism over telling good stories. It's not a small fan base. If it was small, Disney would still be making a lot of money. They succumbed to Twitter whims and paid for it. The problem is that people want to label those who disagree with them instead of engaging in intellectual discussions. I'm a black man and a radical political activist, but I could not take the wokeness anymore to make matters worse, you can tell that the writers don't read intellectual political theory but they rely popular buzz phrases from Twitter. These theories are dense, and if you don't do due diligence, it'll show in the product. But this is how Americans debate. Ya'll label each other without putting forward any ideas. Liberals vs. Conservatives, it's tiring because not sound.
I understand disliking the show doesn't make you a bigot. I myself am not a big fan of the acolyte. But you must understand that there was a growing fanbase rallying behind this show. I think the decision to cancel this is just cruel, given the fact that star wars media is so white focused and the fanbase (obviously not all of it but a huge chunk) is notoriously racist and bigoted. The decision to cancel the show makes sense from a reason and business perspective but to a section of the fanbase no matter how small, it comes across as appeasing the toxic people in the sw fandom. I am critical of the acolyte but I can still see the value in it that it didn't deserve a cancellation.

@@TheMostPotatoPodcast yup! The US version of the office, breaking bad, the wire, etc . All of them wouldn’t survive in this era
