  • The Texel is a breed that is justly famous: a highly adaptable breed that makes its home anywhere, a breed that delivers and successfully blends with other breeds to produce the ideal butchers lamb for today's markets. Texels are the producer's favourite choice.
The Texel ewe does not need heavy feeding to raise twin lambs -- it does well in sparse vegetation of upland regions and excels in lowlands on better pastures. When crossed with a native breed its passes valuable forage conversion traits to its offspring, much needed for efficient prime lamb production from grass based systems.
Producers who use Texel rams quickly realize its qualities: fast growing lambs that yield more through better killing out percentages, lambs that stay lean even when butchered at higher weights.
