  • Earl Jones raises sheep in Louisiana. Instead of wool sheep, he raises a breed more suitable for his hot and humid climate. The sheep are pasture-raised and produce high-value lambs that he markets directly to consumers. This 21-minute DVD provides the details of his sustainable production and marketing techniques.

Well done Earl, you have nailed it, right at time 20:20-20:35, also my philosophy. I raise St. Croix in central Utah on flood irrigated pastures. Just dropped a lamb off this morning at the butcher for a customer.

I like that this guy also explains how to legally sell straight from the farm as well as an overview of how he raises his food. Good video.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I just moved to GA and am planning to build a small farm with little experience. This video has helped tremendously. Hands down, the most informative video I've watched on any subject in a long time!

Mister Earl. Congrats on your farm. Just started watching in and subscribed to it. Being from Louisiana myself being retired living in Scott. I follow a lot of homesteading and farming channels all over the country. It's great to see someone local being able to farm here in Louisiana. Would love to go and visit your farm some day. Could learn a lot from you. Keep up the great job and may God continue to bless your farm.

I keep hearing sheep don’t do well on warm season grasses, but obv that’s not the case. I’m getting Bahia established. Hope they do ok on it. There are also native volunteer grass varieties coming up

We loved our goats but like trying to keep a cat in the pasture. Sheep are so much easier to raise than goats.
