this guy could make a shoe box and rubber bands sound good
Exactly what I was thinking.
I said something like that in another video, definitely the thing is in his heart and hands...not in the guitar
I know most people hate gold hardware but I love. I think it looks great on most guitars. This one looks and sounds like a great deal. Thanks for the video.
My pleasure ✌️❤️
I decided on the black SC Custom, but I watch all your videos just to listen to you play, don't care about which guitar it is anymore. I'm a bassist 52 years, and a church organist....love your soulful feel. Thank You for the smiles!!
OH man.. hahaha I feel I let the guitars down..✌️❤️
You're a great guitar player Johnathan
Thank you for your very kind comment Rob ✌🤓
Jonathan Koh any tips on setting up a hb guitar?? I have 2 that have awful fret buzz..
@@jeffmurphy101 A setup is a setup regardless it's a HB or another guitar. All the cheaper NEW guitars need a proper setup. You need to level your frets and adjust your truss rod, and maybe re cut the nut. It's not rocket scientics. Seek here for how to level frets and setup. Recommended channels.. Will's Easy Guitar, BigD Guitars, Highline guitars, Fredy Frets and so on. You can do it.
Probably 2 things.. action too Low. Or frets are uneven in which case you will need to procure tools to dress the frets. My advise is to send it to a luthier or a friend who knows guitar repairs and if possible learn and see what they do.✌️🤓
@@JonIsJustTooLoud sure i want to listen you every time good job
How does this young man not have more subscribers? He offers killer playing and fantastic information.
lol thanks!!!
Finally someone demoed this without drowning the sound of the guitar to effects that don't give a good picture how it really sounds.
✌🤓✌
Eloy, don't be so pee shy with guitar effects! You're being too one dimensional!
@@leonardszubinski4709 Well, everything sounds the same when you add tons of distortion.
Not the best way to review something.
so this in indeed a good review, where you can hear the sound of the guitar.
Man, that guy has excellent technique and phrasing. Plus, he knows his stuff about guitars.
The best Harley Benton demo i seen thank you....
My pleasure ✌️❤️
My teeth aren't yellow ,they are Vintage White.
The gold pick guard is beautiful and that's what caught my eye on this guitar! I had my eye on this guitar for quite a while and plan on getting it soon!
✌😀
very sweet to the ear... nice playing Jo...
Thank you kindly!✌️❤️
Greetings from Mexico City ! You're a nice musician and demos too !
Gracias✌️❤️
Every time Jon does an Harley Benton review I want go out and buy it he could make a plank sound amazing thanks Jon loved it. Sounds amazing to me.
lol thanks
I have owned one for about a year and for the most part have been happy with the HB. Great tone and looks and priced right. The last "strat" I owned was about 30 years ago, a Tokai, that I sold and could kick myself ever time I think about it. My Harley Benton is no where near the quality of the Japanese made Tokai but that's not surprising. For those considering the HB, expect to find some issues that will need some addressing. Like sharp frets, neck relief that's needs adjusting, string hight, typical stuff you find on most guitars in this price range. For those not afraid to do your own adjustments, the Harley Benton can be a great player at an extraordinary price.
Hi Rex... Tokai makes very awesome guitars..I feel you man ✌️🤓
I fully agree with you, both HBenton and Tokai. I have 3 Tokai with incredible good feeling in hands, and perfect quality. I have 1 HB 35 with all the flaws you mentioned: after fixing them, you can make music with it, but not such a good feeling in hands.
Man you play some nice lines really smooth. Thanks! You're practically selling these guitars for Thomann hihi
Glad you like them!
you are just so good ,i could listen to you for hrs
Thank you so much✌️❤️
Nice playing Jon...
But I'm always perturbed when folks say things like: "You'll HAVE to swap out the pickups..."
It's a $175 guitar...primarily designed for beginner and intermediate players...these types of players are still just mastering bar chords and basic scales...they won't "HAVE" to swap out the pups for a few years IMO...
BTW...I think the white pickguard will look great on the body...OK...just my 2 cents :)
Thank you for sharing✌️❤️
Exactly... And if your amp is good, cheap pickups will sound good with it
As usual beautiful playing
Thanks a lot 😊
Johnatan is so nice he’s responding to every comment I see
✌❤
great playing. please never stop weighing the guitars you review. thanks a lot.
You got it!
Thanks Jon , brilliant playing, just bought this guitar off eBay second hand for £70 only ysed a couple of times, really looking forward to playing it , i think i might swap pickgaurd too. Every blessing , Ralph.
Very nice!
Another New Guitar Day? Oh man... enjoy!😎
And what a nice song! Thanks Jonathan!
Grazie Millie Antonio!!!✌🤓✌
Harley Benton is changing the entire guitar industry...they have forced Squier and Epiphone to up their game...here in the States we have to add $58 to their prices for shipping but...IMO these guits are still the most quality per dollar in the industry right now...Nice review :)
Yes you are correct✌️❤️
They only forced them to make their QC more tolerant to low quality. And to use cheaper wood and hardware. Down to 1mm foil instead of traditional 2mm steel. All Jon demonstrates is a good guitar processor with impulses.
Wow, Jonathan! I'm blown away by your playing. Fantastic!
Thank you John✌️❤️
Killer playing sir.
Thank you kindly!
If I didn't have my nice MiJ Strat I would definitly get something like this.
I totally get it ✌️❤️
Hi Jonathan
It is Simon again.
Very sweet sound!! Good story telling as well!!
Very impressed!!!
Not too many people can do that...in my opinion.
You can make ANY guitar sounds like a million dollars one.(but I can do the opposite way.)
It is all in your heart and fingers, I guess.
See you soon.
Thank you for your music
Simon Lee hahaha thank you Simon for your kind comments.. take care ✌️❤️
Jonathan is number one in my book. Always great reviews and great guitar playing 😎👍👋💯🎸🎸. Very smooth my brother 🎸🎸
Thank you ✌️❤️
beautiful beautiful, looks like an old Mary Kay with a gold pickguard
Yes it is.✌️❤️
@@JonIsJustTooLoud thanks for the video. It help me decide on a purchase, not the same ST that you have. But I bought Harley Benton ST in the same color with chrome Hardware. Just ordered it and I can't wait for it to arrive.😁😁😁
I knew her brother, Norman Kaye.
Your playing is sooooo smooth and fluid! Awesome job showcasing the guitar as well!
Thank you for your kind comments! 🤓✌
Love your playing and your tone choices I could listen to you play all day.
Thank you Clive ✌️😁
It reminds me of the 60th anniversary desert sand Strat, which I fell in love with a long time ago. I really Love your playing.
Thank you ✌️
What a great review. I could listen to you play all day.
Glad you enjoy it!✌♥
Between you and guitar max and 60 cycle hum I really enjoy your channels. Keep up the good work. I also like the gold pick gruad.
Thank you Dwight✌️🤓
I have the Harley Benton 62 VW it has a dark rosewood fretboard. I do prefer a maple board. It's a really nice guitar for me the one I have is slightly heavy for me. The one you have here is nicer. Thanks again for making another fine video. These really help if you're looking to purchase some of these models. Your channel is becoming one of my favourites on UA-cam. You have produced and provided high quality content. Much appreciated.
Thank you ! Much Obliged! ✌🤓
Aside from the guitar demo, I do enjoy your style of play. Really nice!
Thank you kindly ✌️🤓
Best video ive seen period, you are a great guitarist Jonathan really enjoy your videos
Thanks! 😃
Love the way you play Johnathan! Your demos sound 👍
Thank you Claudia ✌️🤓
Thanks, Jonothan, you do play well. Its what makes your opinion worthwhile.
Thank you so much Hal ✌️✌️
Love the way you play Johnathan! Your demos sound great
Thank you Claudia ✌️🤓
Love the relaxed nature of your reviews and the playing was well suited to the song and the instrument. Great job and subbed!
Thank you for your comments 🤓✌️
All of your playing in the demos are money. Great reviews too.
Thank you 🤓✌
Hi, I like a lot your playing. That makes me thinking about buying that Strat. I like the Vintage White too. Thanks.
You finally got me bro...first video I saved to copy your solos...
Some others were good...but too good.
This is just beyond my level .
P.S. is "bro" ok?
Im from san diego ... we're ALL bro's here.
Cool! Bro is fine with me...✌😀
I stumbled upon your videos looking for Harley Benton reviews, I subscribed right away. You've got some great tone! Keep up the good work.
Welcome to the channel!!!✌🤓✌
Man, great tone! Also, great downstroking skills! Thumbs up!
Thanks a lot!✌♥
Maybe you are just that good, but that guitar sounds fantastic on your video. I also love the cream body with gold pick guard.
Thank you kindly!✌♥
Thank you Jonathan. You sold me on this guitar. You play very good. Thank you.
Thank you✌♥
Hello Jonathan.Your reviews are very useful and I'm so thankful for them.
Glad you’re digging them ✌️❤️
Great stuff Jonathan. The fun thing about buying an inexpensive guitar like this is you can mod it and really make it your own without throwing a lot of cash at it. I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
Thank you kindly! Putting the mods in the backburner as I have a concert to work on.✌🤓
Pretty much a strat,,,,, and great playing as usual !!!! Lol !!!! 😁🖒✌
Thank you 🤓✌
Nice guitar, with a very nice guitarist!
Thank you Robert✌️❤️
Great job Jonathan. Really enjoyed your playing.
Thank you 🤓✌️
what a beautiful guitar
✌️❤️
All in all I think the gold look is really attractive and very nice.
Played as stock you also made it sound very good also.
Thank you for posting.
You’re welcome Barry✌️❤️
You should get a commission!! Great playing, sounded great, good video, thanks
hahah but I dont...✌😆
Great review, great tones, and great playing. I've been eyeing this guitar for awhile. Thanks for sharing!!
Glad you liked the video!🤓
Man, you effortlessly knock out some Larry Carlton style lines. Nice touch!
Thank you✌️❤️
Hi, you make really good demos! This is a good Vintage Guitar!
Phenomenal guitarist
Thank you Brendan!
More than welcome, brilliant
@@brendanconway7317 welcome to the channel!
Thank you Jonathan
I love the pickguard 👍
Me too!
Built one the same colors, except nickel. LOVE how the white pickups and knobs look on the pickguard. Except that one is a little richer color - a little more red - than Fender's, which I used.
Cool✌️❤️
I can't believe what a fine guitar player you are, Jonathan!
Thank you ✌❤
Hi Jonathan, nice guitar and great demo as always...
Thank you Joe!! How are you doing?
I have one of those ST62DLX VW and after changing the neck to a proper Strat neck, changing all the cheap electronics to "real" electronics, changing the bridge to a proper strat bridge, changing the pickups to Texas specials and finally changing the tuners to vintage style Gotoh locking tuners the guitar actually plays and sounds great.
oh wow..thats a whole lot of modifications!!😆✌
@@JonIsJustTooLoud yeah but now it plays and sound amazing. I did hade most of the other parts and I like to modify less expensive guitars. :-)
Cheaper to buy real strat !!lol
@@patrickjude55 That was my point, don´t bye this crappy guitar. I cheap Fender Squier for almost the same price is much better.
Great guy always good videosa
Thanks ✌️❤️
Thanks for the great reviews. Your playing is a pleasure to listen to too!!!
Nevin Waterfield thank you Nevin ✌️❤️
Very nice demo playing. Impressive.
Thank you ✌️🤓
Bought this exact guitar thanks to this video. I love it so much. I did get some more vintage looking pickups and dials because the stock ones look to new and shiny.
Lol!!
Love your playing, brother. Kluson style tuners and a gold anodized pickguard, I am all in. I like the way the anodized pickguards wear and age. They don't stay blingy for long.
Yes you right...about the pickguard. And thank you !
Your becoming one of my favorite guitarists
Thank you Brian! ✌🤓
Love your e guitar skills!
Thank you so much✌️❤️
Wish I had a teacher like John
✌️😛✌️
REAL review!
Thanks!
You are stellar dude. Great video and demo not to mention flawless play.
Thank you so much ✌️❤️
I enjoyed your playing. You present well.
Thank you ✌️🤓
I just received mine in olympic white and I like it. Fret edges smooth, no neck relief issues, i will lower the strings a little and intonation on two strings is 'just' off needing a little tweak. Like yours the trem was set up hard flat. I'll loosen that a bit but won't be going for a floating trem. I suspect it doesn't travel much because older model had a lighter and thinner trem block and somebody forgot to change the design for a deeper cavity. We aren't in agreement about the pickups. I'm happy with them and don't see a need to change. I know you're a pro and have a much more cultured ear but it p*sses me off that so many on facebook and youtube are supposed experts and jump on the swapping-out bandwagon when I suspect that many really can't hear much of a difference until you change for significantly more expensive ones like Duncan.
Hi Vince.. Like I said..I would prefer it to be a bit more fat.. Thats my preference.. I've played on some Fender vintage strats that sounded less thin than this one. What you heard on the song is post EQ on my part. ✌️🤓
Hi :) Have you compared olympic with vintage white? What is the difference? :) Thanks in advance!
Not normally a fan of gold hardware but I dig this !!
hehe I took off the Anodised pickguard after the video...😄
I'm surprised you don't like the pick-ups on this Jonathan.
It sounds great!
✌️❤️
Thanks as always. My friend. I'm going to buy this guitar. I have a tele from harley benton and I love it. The trem fix is great. Always great to hear you play ! Thanks again. God bless
Enjoy! Thanks Todd~
what do you think of the strat
im considering buying it soon
Wonderful playing, helpful review. Thanks Jonathan!
Thank you ✌️🤓
Hi Jonathan
Great playing, well done.
Appreciate your honest review. Cheers
Thank you Eddie✌️❤️
If that guitar were black I think the pickguard and the rest of the Gold Hardware would really pop and it'd be a visually impressive and unique looking guitar.
Yes indeed ❤️❤️
Love the way you play Johnathan! Your demos sound 👍
Thank you ✌️🤓
Wow. You got some tasty licks. I watched and rewatched to listen to the playing to steal those chops. Oh decent guitar also.
Steal away John.. just hope you’ve subscribed to the channel!!✌️❤️
I'm new to this channel, but thanks for this awesome demo; I'm planning to fill my whole studio with Harley Benton / T-Bone rig, they sound so good for the price.
God bless.
Cool have fun!!✌️❤️
Really nice playing, lots of feeling. I enjoyed it so much. Thanks. Nice tones too.
Thank you Juan! 🤓✌
Loving these affordable guitar reviews, look forward to seeing how you upgrade it!...cheers! 👍🏻🎼🎸
Thank you Martin!✌🤓✌
You play so beautifully i love it!!!!!
Thank you so much✌️❤️
Again, sounds great. Great playing.
I think these guitars have limits. I think you can definitely find useful tone on them though. Pickups do sound a bit scooped and squishy if that makes sense?
Yes...supposedly vintage sounding!
You need to be the Asia (?) area rep for Thomann Jonathon! Easily the best HB review I have watched. Great playing
Lol thanks man ✌️❤️
Love the way you play Johnathan! Your demos sound great
Claudia Jay thank you Claudia ✌️❤️
I love HB Guitars, amazing review my friend. 👏👏👏
Thank you 🤓✌️
Your reviews are the best!
Thank you for your kind comment✌️🤓
Hello Jonathan, thanks for the presentation of this guitar ... because I had drawn this already in the shortlist :-) I'm very excited by the work that you intend to do with that guitar..have a nice Weekend! by the way..the pickguard looks great in contrast with the white body :-)
Hahaha thank you for your comments! That hold pick guard may take a little getting use to for me hahaha
Jeez, man. That is some seriously killer playing. Absolutely love your style and tone! I hope I can play like that someday. Also, I LOVE that you had backup tracks lined up specifically for each pickup position. Only reason I didn't subscribe sooner is because I didn't want to take my focus off of your review! I haven't looked at any of your other reviews (yet lol), but I doubt you've done a review on this guitar: the Vintage V6JMH. If you can get your hands on one, would you be so kind as to do a review video on it? It's another inexpensive super Strat that usually gets great reviews.
Thanks for your comments! And yes I will look out for that guitar✌️🤓
@@JonIsJustTooLoud Thank you for the awesome review! Another guitar I'm kind of curious about is the Fender AST-M Aerodyne Stratocaster MIJ. Have you ever played one?
I ordered this same guitar 2 1/2 weeks ago and 'tracking' indicates it just cleared customs in Montreal so I'm only waiting on Canada Post delivery out west . . .
Thanks for this demo and review!
Will gladly follow to watch your upgrades . . .
(Really appreciate your great playing, thoughts and comments!!)
Thank you! I'm just waiting for some custom pickups to be installed...will be featuring them once done! :)
do u get the guitar? and its worth or not? im looking to buy my second guitar
Yes I got it... Yes I think it's worth it 🤓✌️
The neck looks really good Jonathan. The bridge is not vintage original style though, and along with the almost locked tremolo, is not thoughtfully made. The pickup sounds are good, but it's you who makes it so! Lovely guitar, played so well by you, and sounds great!
Thank you Gordon for your kind comments. Yes..I agree on your observations
. The tremolo bridge was locked on purpose.. It's easily adjusted to be a floating bridge.
@@JonIsJustTooLoud I agree Jonathan. I had 2 strats in the 60s and one was always better than the other. They were both stolen, and I ended up with a mixture of Yamaha and others. I am stuck with a Focus 111s by Kramer, and it's an old faihtful lol. I play rhythm mostly and have heavy jazz strings on. I just play for fun and writing the odd song. If I could play like you, I would play till my fingers fell off!
Man, you could play a snow shovel and make it sound soulful!
Thank you Robert!🤓✌
