A masterpiece, that was sadly never released as a single. Two songs in one and an iconic video without the star. Missing the chance for a potential hit all over the world. R.I.P. George
Not sure what you mean that it wasn't released as a single. I bought the commercially released 12-inch single back then, and it was ALL OVER MTV. It peaked at #69 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. in 1993!
Agreed. It kind of set the tone for the decade in a way. I was enamored with it when it came out. Reminds me of the movie "Hackers" sort of. Why has culture become so progressively boring and ugly in the decades since then?
The fact that George can cover two distinct songs by already established artists (Seal and The Temptations), merge them together and effortlessly make it seem like they had always been done that way speaks volumes for his talents as a singer, musician and producer.
the song, the video, the idea, is incredible !!! still 2024, I havent seen something groundbreaking like this, that reflects the 90s and its chaotic way in a very glamorous and artistic style...
I havent seen this video in years, ive forgotten how great it is but i still listen to it on the radio from time to time. Glad i found the video once more in 2024 ❤❤❤❤
Remember first seeing this vid in 92 aged 12 and the content and context just had me fixated for ways I couldn't fathom, I just knew it was nothing like anything id seen in the 80s, and the fact he was amalgamating 2 very different iconic songs 3 decades apart and make it this new bold brave thing all of its own melted my mind. Lifted live, Georges voice never sounded so confident of its own possibilities or proud of its own importance. His voice was a gift to music, his soul a gift to humanity.
Beautiful. Comforted in knowing he is appreciated, even if most of this generation doesn't even know what real music is, that's not manufactured and mass marketed. Disposable stuff that won't stand the test of time.
Devastated at the loss of such a beautiful, kind and super talented individual who changed the way we felt about music of our generation. He made us all stand up and be free. RIP sweet George. You will be sorely missed 😅
A genius mashup of Adamski / Seal's "Killer" and Temptation's "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" combined with the distinctive voice of George brings up the best of all works - unforgetable R.I.P George
God Damn, last time I heard this I was a kid in Poland. Now I'm 33 living in NYC and this is the first time since that MTV music video, the N train in Queens and all those oldschool MTA trains bring a tear to my eye. Listened to it about 17 times today on blast and sweet Jesus it sounds fabulous

It's hard to say the version of this song I love more: Adamisk+Seal's, Seal's album or George Michael's. But I can't denny George confidence sounds amazing. His voice sounds brilliant, emotional, passionate, powerful like he was singing to makes every solitary brother and solitary sister in the world stand up and fight. He makes the song his, like Seal didn't exist - although Seal was at the top of parades. George is home ❤
When I was a Vjay in Chicago of all the videos to play , this and Bjork's "All is full of love" were the ones that blew me away in the cinematic impact.
It's a slick rip-off of Suede's Beautiful Ones. Admittedly George was the only artist that existed who could rip off Seal, The Temptations and Suede all in one go and somehow make it work ;-)
MTV was at its peak when I was a child in Northern California in the 80s. But it wasn't until 1991 when I was 13 years old that I appreciated MTV more with the rise of the Seattle grunge rock scene along side hard rockers such as Guns N Roses. The 90s was indeed a cool era with more cool bands sprouting every minute. On the other hand, I love this mash up of Seal's "Killer" and the Temptations' "Papa Was A Rolling Stone". Very underrated indeed. George Michael is definitely one of the artists that I look up to. RIP George Michael

I saw this video in 1993. It was so innovative and absolutely not like any other video I saw at that time. I was deeply moved. I still think it is one of the best videos ever. And of course the great vocal of GM.

The most underrated song by George Michael.
Its Seal's song not Michael's. But greatly done though and prefer that version over Seal's
1st release didn't credit seal with vocals and in contract he only received £150 at the time for recording it! Incredible
@I-Witness DnB frankly speaking I like that Seal's version more
This was Seals breakout moment the £150 is irrelevant
Seal cannot compare to George Michael. Seal sounds exactly like a seal when he sings.
