    I agree 100 percent. This guy has a matter of fact no BS no arrogance approach to MDing.The stuff he finds interests anyone that likes history, especially Civil War times. Make a damn fine host for a show about this kinda stuff. He taught me to run a MD without me even knowing it.

    Hi, Love your videos. Keep up the good work! FYI. Those broken horse shoes that you are referring to are acually oxen shoes. They only have one side because oxen have split hooves.

    I saw a railroad spike. Actually, I was walking the B&O today. Found three spikes. Didn't go there to hit the railroad. On the other side in the field is a grassy two acres of farmland where they fly...and crash.....RC planes. I found a few parts....mostly small nuts, bolts and a broken prop blade.

    8:38 That was used to evenly place coal in the firebox after the fireman shoveled coal into the firebox, so the fire could heat the water evenly and not make hot-spots in the fire.

    @NorthernDelawarevids 9 років тому

    At 6:25, The metal bolt was used for joint bars on the railroad. Considering how thin it is, it's probably 80-100 years old. Also, I started using your techniques in my own area (Northern Delaware) and found a Ford Model A shifter in a creek next to an abandoned RoW...

    I see why you like bridges dating back from 1850s, since any bridge would be a key-stronghold value to defend.
    So needed a small garrison camp closeby. Explains the trash dump in the river. As maps might not have indications where the camp was.
    And if a rout happened, fleeing troops would after any battle fling useless weight away.
    As in all those Hollywood films I saw as a Kid.
    Alvarzis Kelly, comes to mind.
    Also Buster Keaton
    With his big railway gun on a train.
    Movement by rail freight.

    I recycle some iron and brass relics i find. Metal prices are high and large deposits of ore are running out... better for that old scythe, plow, or brass roof flashing to be recycled than rot in the river. Beyond that, I've had a good winter: stoneware ale bottles are jumping out at me for some reason and i got a half gallon clay jug and a stoneware ink bottle, and a blue glass whiskey fifth with a pontil mark. No hutch or bitters yet.

    I notice you find a ot of old plow points. Take a look at the back of them. Many were made by John deere and Vulcan. 30+ years ago I used to helpy Grandad rebuild horse drawn equipment and he was paying 20.00 a piece for those plow points. some we had to do a little repairs to. And I know John Deere stuff is still pretty collectable.
