  • I ordered a Colorado Bee Vac and two days after it arrived some friends had a large swarm settle in a somewhat awkward spot. It would have been a difficult removal without the bee vac so I decided to use it. How did it work? Watch and see!
    I hope you like the video. If you do please like and subscribe. It would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks and enjoy!

    She was a beauty

      Yes she was! Weird how she wasn’t in the box. Must have snuck out when I was looking in or rearranging frames. I got lucky that she didn’t fly 30 feet up in a tree!
      Thanks for watching!!!

      Yes they are great. I think I am going to need another catch box. Easiest swarm catch ever.

      @@brucesbees i had a big wall removal today...vacummed quite a bit...i should have changed boxes in between removal ---.You can put too many bees in there and they can die on you. I had a few dead when I got back 25 min away. My error...live and learn.

      Yes that is what I have heard. Typically don’t do a lot of removals but I will occasionally do one if in an old abandoned building that can be damaged without concern. Or I sometimes help others. My carpentry skills are not that good. Maybe I will start doing more now. Just need some experience, but time is also an issue for sure. There are just not enough hours in the day or days in the week!

    Bruse, this was 4 years ago with the Bee Vac. Do you still use it and if not why?

    Yes I have a cool shield from Blythewood. I did call them. They said they only had replacement fencing style veils. Ordered one and it was a piece of crap. Very disappointing. Was hoping you had a different source.

      I got that jacket a couple of years ago. Didn’t know those were not still available. I sent Scott at Blythewood a message. Maybe he can tell me where to get one. I really do like it.

    Bee's are like the smartest insect ever. They tricked us into making homes for them and somehow caused us to want to do it. :D

    What veil are you using with that jacket? I have one of those jackets but with the fencing style veil. I don’t care for it and I’d like to replace it.

      You have a Cool Shield Jacket? If so I think you can special order the round veil from the Company (Blythewood Bee Company). You might have to call them. Not sure if it is available online.

    looks like they drained that jar overnight. Do you use diluted honey water? The color looked like it, or is it something you add to sugar water/

    • @brucesbees
      @brucesbees  5 років тому

      I use Beekeepers Choice and Amino-B to feed. Sugar water is at 1:1 ratio this time of year. The bees love it. I like to give them a jar or two to help them get established. We have a good flow going now though so probably not totally necessary but it never hurts to give them a little jumpstart.
      Thanks for checking out the video and thanks for the comment!
