Brilliance my friend! I never realized it is octaves, was always just blasting distortion and reverb when I tried to re-created, but def is. The compression is also key… I remember reading they did over dubs in a stadium for the ultimate reverb… Keep up the great work! ✌️
You nailed the sound! The awesome, Gilmour-induced feedback with whammy, making the Strat cry and howl in anguish, would make it perfect. BTW, Sorrow is originally from The Division Bell album, I believe. Thanks for the lesson.
Neither did i, for a very long time.... and every time i tried it without the octave note it never sounded right. When i finally figured it out everything felled into place 😀 Nevertheless David doesn't really "strum" this with the pick, he "picks" both strings simultaneously with the pick and his middle finger on the DSOT, Venice, Knebworth, Pulse, and the Strat Pack, and with thumb and index finger on the last RTL tour. That's why you can hear the octave more clearly on the RTL tour, picking both strings with the fingers, the high note stands up more.
@@guitarlounge just my opinion but I'm sure others share it that this is one of his best solos ever. The emotion expressed in his notes are beyond describable. Please do it !
The main reason is that I'm using a Kemper direct to Logic which makes it harder to generate feedback. Also combined with the fact that I can't record/play loudly where I live...
The one of the best intros ever made. Great work man.👌🏻
For sure. The guitar sound is one of the cleanest, heaviest, and most beautiful I've ever heard.
Listening to Sorrow for thousands times .. now I am enjoying much more after your video .. good work 🤟🏽
The most epic intro of all the times. Thanks for the lesson.
Great lesson and good fun to play
Gilmour plays it with whiteout a plectrum. He used the thump for the low strings, and the index and ring finger for the higher strings and the octave.
Thanks, I had no idea he played it with octaves 🙏
Same here…it makes a lot more sense now.
the one matches surprisingly well!

Thanks Ted!
dude you nailed it, tone, how he plays it. wow
That long and drawn out "falling" sound that Gilmour does is my favorite. I don't know what it's called, but damn I love it.
Dive bombing I call it Hendrix did it live a lot the song is strange really on pulse the pink Floyd live dvd has the best version I reckon
Very impressive, thanks for making this video!!
Absolutely amazing I’ve been on Bose tone central all day to find that sound haha nice 1 mate you nailed it 🤟🏻
Amazing performance intro, good job!

Sorrow is the last song on the Momentary Lapse of Reason album ☺ 👍
Octaves, I should have known, nice job with the electronics.
great video, thanks!
Thank you so much for this lesson....could you do also the solo lesson please 😉

Thanks, mate. Got it.
Nicely done and explained thanks
YES !!!! AAHHH MATE
Awesome !
How haven't you got more subs dude ?
This was very well explained. Thanks for this.
Hey man, could u teach us the rest of the song ?
damn I had no clue has was doing octaves in the intro, cheers
You can hear the octaves a bit clearer when Gilmour plays it with the Black Strat in Pompeii

Sounds great!

Very cool! Please, which MB profile?🙏
Sick
Can You Do the Solo On sorrow By Pink Floyd
Hi - this sounds amazing - how do you create the tone? 😎
I think that was the kemper but I can't remember the profile, sorry!
thanks chuck norris
Musicians make up for all of the rest of the sh_t. Bless
wish you would tell something bout the timing bro. I feel like its super hard to play on time over synth without drums or anything else
Very nice. What Bridge-Tremolo are you using on your Strat
This is the player series (Made In Mexico) with a Floyd Rose double locking tremolo.
@@guitarlounge hi, do you have a video for the rest of the song? The entire solo ?
Hmm I don’t. Would there be interest in the whole solo?
@@guitarlounge just my opinion but I'm sure others share it that this is one of his best solos ever. The emotion expressed in his notes are beyond describable. Please do it !
Why there is no feedback effect
The main reason is that I'm using a Kemper direct to Logic which makes it harder to generate feedback. Also combined with the fact that I can't record/play loudly where I live...
You should get a Jackson PC1, the sustainer has a feedback mode. It’s perfect for this. Nice job 👍🏻
@@rockinchippy that would indeed be awesome! I just got a Mission Engineering volume pedal, that'll do me for a little bit.
Is this standard tuning ?
Yep
what he guitar
Tabs?
Where's the rest of the song man. That's a really big tease right there.
Sorry but you are teaching it wrong, because Gilmour plays it finger picking, and not with pick down
No tab on video =thumbs down
