Just got mine, had the 2014 before. Not an easy bike to get the best out of but it rewards hard riding. Much improved over old version I had for 8000 miles.
I knew you would love the power of this bike. imagine the extra 60+bhp on the ZX10R. what I absolutely love about the Z1000sx is the low end power and torque. It's like a diesel. To adjust the screen settings there's a little leaver near the dials that you press in and it adjusts the screen. Surprised Mike didn't mention that to you.
Andrew Hughes Oh i did love it, the bike looks huge but once you get on it you dont notice it. Mike wasnt there that day so thats probably why. I will work my way up to the zx10r one day 👍👍
Matt R C I understand exactly what you mean with the torque perspective. The Z1000SX is perfect for around town and normal riding as it pulls like a train no matter what rev your at. But with the ZX10R it's like owning a turbo'd vehicle. Once you get past 8k RPM it feels like it wants to rip your arms off. A great thrill for someone who hasn't witnessed the absolute power of a beast.
Bring them on please ....so in depth reviews I'm tossing up between the Z1000 and the Z1000SX you have the best reviews I have found on u tube after mths of searching keep it going
I shall do very soon. I try and do honest reviews, i don't watch any others before making them. It's a difficult choice, all depends whether you want a naked or a tourer. The z1000 is quite raw, hard suspension, sporty seating position, brutal acceleration ect (a lot of people enjoy these kinda rides) while the z1000sx is more laid back, very comfortable and perfect for touring.
I would say that the Kawasaki z1000sx is one of the best all round bikes on the market, although I haven't test ridden the gsx s1000f. I ride mine with screen on its lowest setting and think that It is class. no buffeting which is a big plus.
GSX-S1000/F bikes have a higher power-to-weight ratio to the Z1000SX. I've ridden the Suzukis and they have astonishing power, and supremely smooth engines. Less buzz than the Kawasaki. The GSX-S bikes have a very reassuring feel from the front end and are very confidence inspiring, stable, and balanced in leaning. People have complained about the lean characteristics and front end feel of the Z1000SX in most years. It can be adjusted, but it takes some fiddling and some put a 190/55 tire in place of the stock 190/50.
Really enjoyed watching your review! Thanks for sharing. I just picked mine up on Friday and cant wait to run it in! Have you decided on a buy yourself yet? I got the green, and love it!
I ride the same road on all my test rides, it has a bit of everything. I like the look of those suzuki's, was looking at the GSX-s750 today in red, amazing! JT's are being a bit awkward with me taking bikes for test rides at the moment
dell is great but after being told i would need to be chaperoned to test the mt09, i haven't bothered asking. I will definitely try the gsx as soon as i can
thank you for your review of the bike. i liked it very much. i have a question which you didnt mentioned about, or maybe i missed it anyway. here comes my question ; what do you think about how comfortable the back-passenger would be ? this bike is absolutely my fav. but i want it to be comfy as well for my girlfriend on the long trips. thank you !
Thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed it. Over last year they did improve the comfort of the rider and passenger seat, that what one of the main complaints over previous years. The bike is built for touring and comfort so i would think they would make it a priority.
Anyone able to offer a comparison between the Z1000SX and ZZR1400 as a long distance commuter (150 miles?) I do it twice a week and I’m in the market for a bike that will reduce the journey time to a minimum. It’s mainly motorway + wide sweeping A roads with around 10 miles of narrower roads. I need to be cruising at 90mph most of the way which both bikes can do easily although I believe the longer ZZR is more stable at speed on the straight. I also need to filter through traffic at several points and be able to overtake and tuck back in quickly with limited space ahead. I suspect both bikes would easily fit the bill but which better? I believe the Z1000SX offers a more comfortable riding position for those distances and is better on twisties but I wonder how it will cope with 90mph on the motorway over the Severn Bridge on a blustery day. I know Richard Hammond chose the ZZR as his commuter from Gloucester to London and I guess he would know what to look for. The other small consideration is the extra 5mpg attainable on the 1000. Any insights?
Pretty easy to ride yeah but you could feel the extra weight when at a stop. Power delivery was very similar to the z900, power kicks in at any gear or speed
Thanks dude. haha yeah i understand, this seat was just right for me. Wanting a try of the versys as well but is 20mm more than this, think i will sit on it first :P
Nice review, I love the look of them. As you say for the money you get plenty of tech, I just didn't like the seating position and screen. It felt like a naked bike with a Screen stuck on it.. When are you putting your order in ? Lol
TheM4 Boar Me to. It pretty much a standard z1000 in touring mode. Will ride a z1000 next week so will see what the differences will be then. I got use to the bike pretty much straight away due to be similar to the z900. Tbh if i had the room, i may have looked at some numbers 😉 Thank you

Great bike for the short time i was on it, will definitely want to own one in the future

I've owned both bikes, and the torque of the Ninja 1000 makes it feel faster than a zx10r on the road.

great review, think this could be my next bike.. still learning on an mt07...keep on doing this good work. thank you & greetings from germany
Thank you :D This will be my next bike hopefully within the next 6 months! My MT07 has and is an amazing bike, just needing at bit more ;)

I'm choosing between this bike and the Ducati Supersport S. video was very informative. Thank you!
Pauly FZ No problem. Thank you
Which one did you end up getting? Thank you
Im also thinking of these two bikes, the z1000sx seems faster and more practical but the Ducati Supersport seems better when the corners get tight :P
I get my new one on Saturday, can’t wait, going from a Fazer 600 to this so probably need spare pants for my first ride, 😂
Really enjoyed watching your review! Thanks for sharing. I just picked mine up on Friday and cant wait to run it in! Have you decided on a buy yourself yet? I got the green, and love it!
Thank you! Oh great pal, such a good bike :D I have gone with a different bike but its a secret ;)
test rode it the other day and loved it, did a vid. Up there for next bike. comfy touring ability but spankability rating is great
Totally agree, such a great bike!
Windscreen just needs a simple push of a lever below the instrument display to adjust tilt. No tools needed.
Ah ok, must have read that wrong
WOW! I am a Yamaha guy, but that is a beautiful bike. The color and twin exhaust is pretty sweet!
Me too but after riding 5 different Kawasaki's, that may change. Stunner it definitely is! Thank you
Great review once again ...time to ride and review the big daddy of them all ZZR1400
Thank you :D I have that in mind and the ktm 1290 duke!
Sounds great!
A decent sound for stock!
nice ride i ride all those roads, nearly bought that sx but got the suzuki gsx-f instead, if you can get a test on the suzuki from dell at jts try it
I ride the same road on all my test rides, it has a bit of everything. I like the look of those suzuki's, was looking at the GSX-s750 today in red, amazing! JT's are being a bit awkward with me taking bikes for test rides at the moment
why are they giving you grief, always thought dell was ok if you can get a blast on the 1000 gsxs-f makes that kawa feel slow lol
dell is great but after being told i would need to be chaperoned to test the mt09, i haven't bothered asking. I will definitely try the gsx as soon as i can

Was it comparatively easy to ride? By comparatively, i mean, against the Z900. especially the power delivery
Pretty easy to ride yeah but you could feel the extra weight when at a stop. Power delivery was very similar to the z900, power kicks in at any gear or speed
Could you review the ninja zx-14R as well?
In time i may do mate. Will put it on my list
Nice review I would be keen if the seat height wasn't bigger than my er6f #shortlegproblems
Thanks dude. haha yeah i understand, this seat was just right for me. Wanting a try of the versys as well but is 20mm more than this, think i will sit on it first :P
yeah I can barely get my leg over my bike lol damn my 30" inside leg lol
Are you sure that’s the 2017 model??(I got one) colour looks 2016!🤔
Nice review, I love the look of them. As you say for the money you get plenty of tech, I just didn't like the seating position and screen. It felt like a naked bike with a Screen stuck on it..

Did you get any wrist pain on your ride
Murphysthoughts I didnt no, its quite an upright bike. I had slight nunb hands but i get that with all bikes
Quite expensive bike you say, here in Norway it is the equivalent of 24000 £ 🤪
Did you get this bike?
I didn't no, i went for the MT-09 in the end. Still would like to it be a future bike though
Keep the bloody camera still!made me feel sick dancing about ffs!!! couldn't watch!!😠
