RECIPE
Boil until fork tender
Place on baking sheet with some oil
Smash
Make magical elixir which consists of
The correct amount of olive venom
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon of something red like smoked paprika or chipotle powder
Some salt
Some pepper pepper pepper
Smash potatoes
Drizzle the magical elixir into the potatoes cracks
Back at 450 for 40 minutes

So that's why we had to wait a while for this episode. YSAC had to wait for the potato birds to come around. That's why you should always check the potato forecast to make sure, what farming method is best in a given season.
Props for the dedication though. Just for the content, he sat around in a forest for a month and probably had to live off of wild chicken sandwiches and pot pies.

The skin is my favorite part. When I bake potatoes I do them for so long that the skin turns brittle, and it breaks when I go to cut it.

Dude so I found this channel almost 3 years ago during a crack cocaine/alcohol binge after making my own independent decision to get sober in 2018. It was actually right as the first reports of covid were happening but before we knew what it was. So right around January to give you an exact time frame. So yeah I was also losing my mind that a pandemic might happen...
It was just a horrid time and so much messed up stuff had happened.... But I found these videos and when I found my sanity slipping away or fearing death or worse, I would just watch some "You Suck At Cooking". I'm currently 409 days sober for the first time in my life. The feeling I get when I hear the jingle is inexplicable. It's a reminder of where I've been but also where I am. It's a a kind of joy that only comes from having seen the absolute bottom. I get an instant wave of warmth over my entire body when I hear a YSAC video start. It's insane but this guy kept me alive and continues to be a source of strength and a reminder of what I've been through. There's very few people I'd actually like to meet and personally thank but he's definitely one of them.

In Ireland smashed potatoes are actually called "Smashed pataters so it is, so it is, to be sure, to be sure, top of the mornin to ya" in case you're in an Irish restaurant and can't find them on the menu.

I like recipes like this, made with simple and common ingredients; I'm living in England and we can't afford to feed ourselves at the moment, local food banks have closed, thank you for sorting dinner tonight mate 👍 (would this still work without the spices? We only manage salt and pepper currently)
It should work fine without the other spices, you may just want to salt and pepper them a little more liberally.
I'd say that salt is the only important seasoning to include. Everything else is a bonus that can be subbed or omitted. Potatoes with just S+P taste great.

I discovered smashed potatoes a few weeks ago and immediately fell in love! Although I microwave them for 4 minutes, shuffle them around in their bowl and microwave them again for 4 minutes, then comes the smashing part before I fry them in a generous amount of butter and serve them with garlic loaded tsatsiki, absolutely delicious fast food!
It's always such a thrill to see a new video by my favourite person on UA-cam! 🤗 Also it's really good to hear the intro again 😍 I know this recipe from my mum, she knows around 13 ways of making potatoes taste divine, even though she's not Irish OR violent. But I still think power stone-smashed potatoes taste best!
