You could make supports fromdried wood logs. If you can make lacquer, that should make the supports last longer. But I'd check if lacquer would harm the water quality first before applying it. Plain wood is probably just safer.

I'm pretty sure over the years I've seen this man begin his UA-cam channel turning this land into a rice farm, with rice paddies, then he turned it into a magnificent fish pond, and now he's creating rice paddies on top of that fish pond! This is the best aquaponics system ever, no pump or plastic.

México has a kind of platforms called "chinampas" built in the same way and from the ancient times til now are very useful. They can raise crops many times through the year.

Hi. I love your idea of the floating rice bed. I pray it works. It might be as pretty as what you have now but when I was a kid my family would use empty barrels under the raft to help it stay up. I have also seen some use empty milk or juice jugs tied to the raft to help it float. You would probably need alot of milk jugs if that's what you use.

Hello from the far side of the world. Please, take pieces of charcoal, powdered ashes, burnt fruit, mixed with moist earth and dry wood wax. Also take fresh herbs (still green) finely cut. You will mix all this together, with water. This creates a wonderful fertile ground for growing plants.

I really like your idea about grown rice using hydroponics (floating rice paddies). In answer to your question about "doing something so they don't sink", I would wait and see, if they look like they are starting to sink, add more bamboo under the rafts at either end, so you do not risk damaging the roots that should grow through the raft. If you tied bamboo in big bundle and kept them ready, just in case, if not needed, then you will have some more fire wood! So win, win! :) Your rocking the new shirt look man! LOL Have you had the old one framed as a keep sake! LOL Thank you for this and all your other wonder full videos. Cannot wait to see how the hydroponics rice growing experiment work out. Cheers! :)
Just some clarification from someone in the know: hydroponics doesn't use soil. This is aquaponics since there is soil and the use of high nutrient fish water from the aquaculture (fish farm)

i think one of the greatest aspects of watching you has been seeing how long each creation lasts. very informative. definitely curious to see how the wooden structures last. vs bamboo and most of all right now. how many uses the rafts might get. cant imagine having to harvest enough bamboo for new rafts each season would be a very efficient outcome.
Depending on the species, some bamboo can grow as much as 34 to 36 inches a day under the right conditions. Self replenishing pretty quickly. I would wager that he has the harvesting and construction down to a science. So depending on the crop yield, it might be worth it to build new ones as needed.
There are a few people in the "primitive skills" department that I wouldn't mind being stuck on a desert island survival situation with, this is one of them.

Missed an opportunity to keep the water from damaging your new deck there. Because the water is already filling the trough, just have the trough slightly overhang the deck, so the water can drain directly into the pond from the trough, keeping the deck dry
For the water deck, maybe it's time to upgrade it to a brick foundation filled with dirt and then make some clay tiles for the decking instead of having to rebuild it every couple of months because the bamboo or wood rots out. You could leave a gap between the decking tiles so the water would drain in between them and then flow into the pond. You could do the same thing for the bamboo shower tower as well and then you'd just have to replace the bamboo spigots when they rot out. Sure it won't be as pretty as the bamboo ones, but it'll save you so much time on repairs.
@@cursedxistence it would work but the reason we use bamboo's because we meant to float freely in any pond and lake and the water level doesn't stay. It could get higher or lower than what the normal level of pond by the day time and weather change.

Going outside and building anything takes alot of time. My parents have a 20 feet by 20 feet garden in their backyard and they spend anywhere from 2-5 hrs a day in the back. That's just gardening.

I think you should Just stabilize this , take some bamboo to water and stand that boat on that

Going outside and building anything takes alot of time. My parents have a 20 feet by 20 feet garden in their backyard and they spend anywhere from 2-5 hrs a day in the back. That's just gardening.

Olá Ruth. Assim como vc acompanho os vídeos dele. Para ter a legenda em português vc vai na opções legenda e seleciona tradução automática. Daí seleciona o português Brazil, que daí vc vai conseguir acompanhar a legenda. Grande abraço. Se poderes se inscreva no meu canal também. 😊
