That and there's probably a couple more in the lab, like the one in Outbreak (as far as I've seen. I've never actually played Outbreak, just seen a clip or two here and there.)
The 5 others were in charge of taking care of the US military in town that you see near the end of RE3, Mr. X is (at least in the original game) the only Tyrant present in the RPD with the mission to retrieve the G sample as well as kill all police officers or survivors found in the precinct. In the remake it's unclear whether that detail was changed or not because there's just no documentation or info about it at all, so it's unknown whether there's multiple Mr. X or if it's just that the scenarios don't have continuity, which was always a thing in RE games so I don't see why Pat is so surprised by it, but not by the fact that in Remake 1 Chris can save Jill from jail, but Jill also can save Chris from there.
@@williamzou8833 It's too soon to talk about a RE3 Remake yet, and even if there were one, it might not follow the same canon and continuity as Remake 2, since Remake 2 itself doesn't follow Remake 1's storyline accurately, the existence of John is completely removed since now Ada has a new cover and is a mercenary instead of a spy.
Yeah the whole 2nd run thing is the thing that bothers me the most. They said constantly that A/B scenarios are cut to make the two campaigns more unique, alright they are a bit more unique but why are we fighting the same exact bosses in the same exact way? Like what the fuck. And it wouldnt even bother me so much if the enviornments wouldnt be so clearly untouched by the character that you played before the 2nd run. Like Pipe birkin fight. The catwalk is magically up and untouched when youre coming the second time around. I think what they were going for is that, the game doesnt show Leon for example, as the Leon who you played as that beat Birkin bosses and all that, it shows Leon who you never played as, and you never know what he went trough and how. He's just gone to every place before you, luckily avoiding all bosses.

If I start a UA-cam gaming channel, it would definitely be called "Panic Attacks in Paradise." That said, I also strongly encourage Woolie to try the original RE2 at some point. It still holds up incredibly well (I only recently played it last year, along with RE1 and 3), and even though I'm not a fan of horror games (or reliving games of that era, in general), I was totally hooked by RE2's remarkably fine-tuned gameplay. Furthermore, one of the amazing things about REmake is that it doesn't end up invalidating the original RE2. The experiences you get from either game is unique enough to warrant keeping and replaying both games, something that can't be said about straight remakes like Shadow of the Colossus.
Disclaimer: I stopped listening to this segment/video about 6 minutes in because it autoplayed and I didn't realise, because I am playing the Resident Evil remake for the first time right now and I don't want any spoilers... and I've somehow dodged spoilers for it all my life, save a few minor ones. ANYWAY, to talk on Pat's anxiety about remaking a brilliant title of olde and how it resonates with new players, I'm having an incredible time. Two factors that might impact this sentiment for me specifically are 1. I'm in my mid-twenties so I remember this era of video games, younger players might not be so forgiving 2. I'm good at adapting to older games mechanically, as well as general 'harshness' of saving systems/puzzles etc that the 90's is famous for. In any case, I think that this title has the sort of makeup that'll cause it to age well inherently. Compared to other horror games of the same era like Silent Hill 1 & 2 (which are obviously great titles), the lonely and eerie atmosphere of basically looping through this mansion, over and over trying to figure out obscure bullshit (playing blind lol) to the point where you're not on guard anymore and then you notice a small difference in a room you've been in a million times, or a zombie who's been dead for hours jumps you suddenly when you're not expecting it, is such a sick concept that its frightening nature defies animation standards in my opinion. Silent Hill, in my opinion, can't age as well because you're expected to mow through enemies or consistently run past them and the NOW shot animation of these enemies kinda kills the scary vibe, but I'm SUPER scared playing through this. Moderately hard to very hard puzzles, hardly any ammo, ink ribbons as a system, and the inventory combination system are all super refreshing 90's staples and I'm enjoying the challenge... the only thing that I wish I had was a good stomp.
I'm still confused on the enemy he said was removed in the original only to show as a boss in this one. I can't think of what he is possibly talking about.
Never going to happen(at least decently) but we can always dream. It would require some of the original key devs though. Silent Hill isnt as easy to remake as RE.
The first zombie encounter on the original Resident Evil was too spooky so I never beat it. I skipped the 2nd one because I didn't know it existed and instead was too busy playing dino crisis until Nemesis which is my equivalent to Pats resident evil 2. I cant wait for its remake so I can get those feels too, also now that I think about it all those hours with Regina might be the reason I'm into Redheads.
The spiders are replaced by the Gs. G creatures replace them as the poison enemy of the game and Ivy’s are not just regenerators. They’re super regenerators. They instantly kill you if you don’t have a knife/grenade regardless of health and they don’t even die if you shoot the weak spots. They just pretend to be dead and get up afterwards. You gotta burn them completely.
I guess best way to think of the campaigns in REmake 2 is to think it not like RE2 scenarios but more like REmake 1. The Leon you play as is not the same Leon that you meet in Claires campaign.
Tyrant is a designation by Umbrella. "Ivan" in Umbrella Chronicles is the most effective pursuer "nemesis" type, "Talos" is the largest. At least, I THINK Talos was a tyrant. Not sure. Mostly just means "large humanoid that's heavily resistant to small-arms fire".
"Tyrant" has always been a classification. In RE1 there is the T-002 Tyrant. RE2 is the T-103 Tyrant. RE3 has Nemesis. RE CV has the T-087 Tyrant. RE0 has the T-001 Tyrant. And yes, TALOS is a tyrant.
Pat is living in lala land about the music. The original music is great but it doesn't work well in the Remake mainly because the original was based on every room having a loading screen, so sudden huge shifts in music felt ok. But in the remake when you can fluidly run between rooms without any load screen the music feels way too abrupt and the new soundtrack is much better for it.
I've noticed the aim-assist will sometimes kick in after you get grabbed when you play 4th survivor. It might be a handicap for people playing with controllers
The title had me worried for a sec, but Pat's gushing put me at ease. I do have some questions though, Scenario B is basically a remixed version of A, but both A and B can be played with both Leon and Claire? Do Leon and Claire have any noticeable differences or are they basically skins? And is there a Mercenaries mode (RE2 was the first game to have a mercenaries mode right?) or is it just the campaigns for now? (I don't expect any multiplayer stuff, but mercenaries is still fun regardless)
B takes place alongside A and has differences based on what you did in scenario A. In the original it was even down to things like "If you took ammo from this room, there would be no ammo for the other character" so you could make B difficult. I don't think it's fair to call it a "remix" though, because B does things A doesn't. You get into different rooms and have new puzzles. As for the characters, it's about like RE1, where Jill has ... I think it was more speed but less health, and Chris had more health but was slower overall. Things like that are different. There's also Hunk and Tofu after you beat the game. And Mercenaries mode is getting added in. The 15th of this month Capcom said free update is coming that will add Mercenaries mode and a new thing called "Ghost Survivors" or something that looks like a campaign with 3 new characters, so there's a buttload of content to play through even without multiplayer.
@@Nekufan1000000 Okay that sounds fun that its a sorta parallel story with some new and/or remixed content. What you explained is basically what I thought, I just wasn't sure how different it would be. Oh yeah I forgot about Hunk and Tofu, I didn't know if Tofu actually played differently though. Free you say? That sounds amazing, I'm all for the new modes but for them to be free is unexpected and I'm really grateful for that.

I'm still confused on the enemy he said was removed in the original only to show as a boss in this one. I can't think of what he is possibly talking about.
Its the opposite, he's talking about a boss in original that become normal enemies in remake, a.k.a G-adult.
Pat "misremembers" (makes shit up) quite often
Can you imagine Invisible Enemy Mode with Mr. X?
I want capcom to buy Silent Hill and remake the first two in this style...
Never going to happen(at least decently) but we can always dream. It would require some of the original key devs though. Silent Hill isnt as easy to remake as RE.
I would love pat and woolie to make castle super beast a new gameplay channel alongside the podcast

If Only You Could Talk to Mr. X.
Oh yeah, the guy who made Donut County is making that Neon White game, that cool looking card FPS speedrunning game
Man the clickbait in this is genius!
Pat maybe be wrong alot
but he's a damn good story teller that keeps your attention Lol
Wow, that's a pretty L O N G clip!
Where's the rest of the video?
I fucking love you guys, that's all I have to say. Please don't ever change
Oh yeah! They used to record in the same room! I forgot.
the weird time nexus that RE2 takes place in got way weirder and way more nexusy
The funny modern part of this is that Ethan Winters is the the only RE protagonist who's canonically had sex.
I remember being 9 trying to play re2 and failing for too much fear lol i picked up the game 2 years later to finally finish it
4:30 Resident Evil is ace representation.
Yessss, resident evil talk.
I guess best way to think of the campaigns in REmake 2 is to think it not like RE2 scenarios but more like REmake 1. The Leon you play as is not the same Leon that you meet in Claires campaign.
Mr X does also have an instant kill grab too, but he never uses it first.
29:25 "Knock knock" open up the door its real
Underrated comment
I wanna see more Joe baker hobo punch train God Hand shenanigans!
I almost forgot they had a podcast... cause Woolie doesn’t upload it here... but DOES backdown on [PIXIES]
Isn’t Tyrant a classification of bioweapon now a days? Like any big beefy bioweapon like X and Nemesis is now a Tyrant Class BW?
Tyrant is a designation by Umbrella. "Ivan" in Umbrella Chronicles is the most effective pursuer "nemesis" type, "Talos" is the largest. At least, I THINK Talos was a tyrant. Not sure. Mostly just means "large humanoid that's heavily resistant to small-arms fire".
Zachary Doyle Tyrant is in its name so I assume so
"Tyrant" has always been a classification.
In RE1 there is the T-002 Tyrant. RE2 is the T-103 Tyrant. RE3 has Nemesis. RE CV has the T-087 Tyrant. RE0 has the T-001 Tyrant.
And yes, TALOS is a tyrant.
The Tyrants and their naming conventions are basically a homage to the Terminator series.
RE2 itself owes a lot to T2 & Aliens.
I believe tyrants have to be t virus derived b.o.w otherwise they’re not tyrants

It wasn't G or Q, but X.
Kinda suprised in all that time, Pat never mentioned the alligator confrontation.
Probably because its so forgettable.
@@GreedAndSelfishness kinda makes one wonder if the developers were right in their original decision to leave out the encounter. 😒
YEAAAHHHHHH RESI 2 wooile plays while pat laughs at him
General Hayes "Drop your gun. Perfect."
4:05 I'm gonna try to keep it concise. ::proceeds to talk about for 48 minutes::
WE WANNA SEE PAT WATCHING WOOLIE FUCK AROUND IN RESI2, AREN'T WE?
Yes please.
29:50 Lisa Trevor’s cabin anyone?
Wheres my "classic mode", though? I wish there was an option for fixed camera and tank controls. Perhaps as DLC.
There's a mod being made, no worries. It looks great even!
I would fucking love that as an extra challenge mode
Hunk doesn't have auto-aim, what are you talking about ?
Madeline Woof idk if he has auto-aim on consoles or not but I can confirm there is no auto-aim on PC
@@LovinTheSickBeat He doesn't have it on console
I've noticed the aim-assist will sometimes kick in after you get grabbed when you play 4th survivor. It might be a handicap for people playing with controllers
waiting for that Akuma DLC tho... lol
they should make a mode where you play as the tyrant fighting spec ops.
Pat's tiny hands are distracting me, why did you guys mention it, it just keeps me disturbed.
Damnation was actually pretty good though. It also has the best balance of Leon's characterization before RE6 ruined it again.
Matt is nothing more than a Canadian DSP.

Okay that sounds fun that its a sorta parallel story with some new and/or remixed content.
