    I think it's useful to spend time comparing one singer to another. Who cares ? really ? I'm so glad that so many different singers are allowed to give us their interpretation of an Opera, and Opolais gads well done the job. Stop always comparing singers, just try to listen the emotions that those women can give us, the palette of interpretation are so infinite.. We could just simply enjoy that multiplicity.

      Well said! I get so tired of all the pretentious nitpickers. I agree with your view that different interpretations by different artists enrich us all. Thanks again!

    Brilliant!! -- Kristine Opolais is a rare combination of great talent and beauty!!! --- she's one of my favourite Sopranos ----- not too keen on this stage setting though, I'm a bit of a traditionalist!!!

    It's not a big bed. Opolais is 14 inches (36 cm) tall.

      Perché? È alta e slanciata, gambe lunghe e tornite, seno di buone dimensioni e di bella forma e non rifatto, bei fianchi e spalle della stessa larghezza viso di un bell'ovale, fronte alta e lineamenti non pronunciati, bocca dalle labbra di medie proporzioni e bei denti. Pare che abbia una bella pelle, bei capelli e begli occhi....non è sufficiente? Poi si sa...tutti i gusti son gusti. Qui era anche piuttosto giovane, comunque bisogna sempre vedere di persona.

    nice voice, but why show her as if she's crazy and in heat?

    • @fredrickroll06
      @fredrickroll06 4 роки тому

      Because she is. It's unfortunate that there are no English subtitles - then the details of the situation would be clearer. Remember: NO "well-bred" Russian girl in 1877 in her right mind would have made a passionate declaration of love in a letter to a man whom she barely knows! It was a REVOLUTIONARY act for a WOMAN to take the initiative, to take her destiny in her own hand and bear the potentially fatal consequences - which, in Tatyana's case, were ALMOST fatal, but fortunately not entirely.

    Sorry but this doesn't compare to Anna Netrebko at the Met this past 2013-14 season. There were NO computers back then. Stupid staging idea.

      I understand the criticism, however, it's really not that big of a deal. In my opinion, cultural diffusion ought to go beyond physical or geographical boundaries, but should also pass through the walls of time. The emotions of people from the past and present oughtn't to be segregated. Humanization begins with empathy, and it's difficult to empathize with someone if you don't understand what's happening; how to are we to expect the young to learn from stories of the past, if they can't relate them to anything familiar? The computer could have served as a point of reference to audience members unfamiliar with the original setting in 18th century rural Russia. In addition, the incorporation of modern technology may have also served as a symbol of the ambiguous and irrelevant nature of setting when compared to the eternal unity of the existential struggles of all peoples; and honestly even if it didn't, your capability to find anger while indulging in the privilege of entertainment is genuinely concerning. Elitism really has no place in art. I'm sure that Pushkin and Tchaikovsky would agree that the setting wasn't really the point (although tbh Tchaikovsky probably would have followed that with some snide nationalist comment 🙃).
      Edit: Sorry about the rant, i was tired when i typed this and forgot that it's weird to use a semicolon in the UA-cam comments section... Lmao

    The singer as alright , I don't blame her. But Tatiana was with pure soul, vergine and never colored her hear :) .... New times and new rules in art have nothing to do with real art that can touch you and change you.... I'm crying because I'm deeply regret this staging....

    Это тебе не Пуччини и не веризм, дорогуша, научилась бы сначала до 4 считать и нотки в написанном ритме петь, а потом берись за Чайковского! Давно уже такой бабистой Татьяны не видела что по вокалу, что по образу, со всеми повадками бывалой путаны, какая уж там 17-летняя романтичная девочка, ха-ха. Оркестр вообще кошмар, фальшь такая, что уши вянут. Отличный прогресс совершила Латвийская опера с советских времен, ничего не скажешь. Одно слово, проституция, что в политике, что в музыке, только вот за проституцию в музыке морду бьют чаще!

      А правда в глаза никогда не бывает облизанной и приятной, разве не знаете? Тем более когда вещи называют своими именами. Откройте уши и закройте глаза, послушайте этот позор, не отвлекаясь на полуголое тело, и, если у вас есть мало-мальский музыкальный слух, вы услышите все, о чем я говорю.
