  • Why did Tatiana turn Onegin away?
In Pushkin's novel, the girl falls in love with the city playboy. But he does not reciprocate.
A few years later she gets married to another man and becomes a princess.
Now Evgeny falls in love with her, but Tatiana remains faithful to her husband.
At the end of the book, she is no longer as naive and simple-minded as she was at the beginning.
She does not even think of the possibility of cheating on her husband.
Tatiana continues to love Onegin. But she finds the strength to turn him away.
Thus, she shows true nobility and purity of soul. As a Christian, she cannot betray the man to whom she has promised fidelity to God.
Tatiana's actions became a vivid illustration that passionate feelings are far from being the most important thing in a person's life.
Family and respect for your loved one, duty, and honor are much more important. That's what Pushkin's heroine did what she did.
