You have likely heard of Vitamix by now. It's the brand that most home cooks and professionals consider the gold standard of high-performance blending. Vitamix blenders are extremely powerful, multi-functional, and the most reliable blenders on the market.
I have owned my Vitamix blender for more than a decade now. I have several Vitamix models at home for testing purposes, but the one I use regularly is almost 30 years old (the model is no longer available). I inherited the blender from my husband's grandma, and it is still going strong.

I have a Blendtec blender which does well and have been happy with it for years.
I have heard great things about Blendtec. It's another great brand producing high-speed blenders. I like that Vitamix has a food-processor attachment for their blenders, but maybe Blendtec will come up with one in the future.

I now have my second Vitamix. The first one I got 30 years ago and it still works! It's now my second one for smaller quantities and my new one is family size. I have a question about the lentil dip you mentioned: so when you make it, do you make it just like the other nut butters by simply adding it to the vitamix until it turns to a 'butter'?
Petra I have an older model vitamix. It still works. The food processor attachment will not work with it. I spoke with the company rep and was told it needs a special program feature for safety reasons which the older models not programmable/automatic enough to run the processor. Really too bad. It is not easy to part with (a lot) more money to buy a newer vitamix and then in addition to buy the processor and replace the (extra) jars. Every few years/months they come out with a new model which means have to keep buying to have the latest 'improvement'. You are kind to give us info on the ways to prepare food using this machine. I appreciate your channel. Thank you.
I hear you! The reason the food processor attachment is not compatible with the older models is self-detect technology. Food processors spin slower than blenders, so Vitamix created a gearing system that sits hidden inside the bottom of the food processor attachment. It gears down the speed by approximately seven-fold. The self-detect technology ensures that the blender base knows whether to act as a blender or a food processor. Vitamix says that they are building their future on self-detect technology, so they're probably going to keep coming up with attachments compatible with that technology. However, if you have a Vitamix blender that works (and don't necessarily need to buy a food processor right now), I would just keep the older model and not upgrade. I am not sure which model you have, but my favorite Vitamix is the one I inherited from my husband's grandma (not even in production anymore) because it comes with the tall 64-oz container, which is the most versatile, in my opinion.
