Hey guys! Some notes for you from a former TB student:
For the '99 jellybean kit, the bass drum was not from his orange sparkle kit. It was a different colored wrap OCDP labeled as "champagne sparkle"
Yellow kit bass drum size was 18x22
The red white and blue kit rack tom was first 8x12, and later changed to a 6x12 (this kit is stored on display at the Zildjian HQ)
His snare batter head is changed twice on show days. Once for sound check, and then once again before showtime
He shortly switched up to Pearl cymbal stands on the Mark Tom and Travis show tour in 2000
While he did use Pro-Marks sparingly in the beginning, his stick of choice from 1998 onward was the Zildjian Super 5B until his signature stick was released (which was actually based on a Vic Firth SD1)
    Amazing video guys, thank you!

Couple things that could also be included:
One kit that was missed was the from ‘02 Transplants tour and Diamonds and Guns video. It’s one my favorite that looks like an old Cadillac and matches Tim’s Gretsch. Matte black with gold hardware. However, I remember Travis talking about how they had to reinforce that bass drum and they wrapped it in grip tape because Tim would jump up and stand on it while they were playing.
Other honorable mentions to the kits:
His cowbells, the custom wood block attached to the bass, and the electronic 808 drums.
Also he’s always used a single kick pedal except a few occasions: The 2004 tour when he had a broken leg and had to play bass with his left foot, The Game performance along with the +44 tour when he had a broken hand and played snare with a second pedal and lastly the recently posted videos recording for the new album.
Overall a great video! Thanks for putting that out!

I believe the black lacquer kit used with BCR is the one that they filled with foam to deaden the sound and now use as a back-stage warm-up kit.
The plied "flannel" kit is on display at Wahoo's Fish Taco in Norco.
Also, a few kits missing that are public:
Rogue status/DTA black kit (with a gun pattern)
Green Sparkle used with DJ AM and Yelawolf (XS Sessions)
    Van Hallen Kit
Red acrylic kit (used with Yelawolf)

Correct, the plaid kit was on display at Wahoo’s in Norco. It’s now back with Travis in his studio. His practice kit (at least back then) was a replica of the kit he used in the First Date and Stay Together For The Kids videos. The small sized red/blue jellybean kit

There were SO MANY incorrect claims made in this video I thought I’d correct a few of them…
    1. Travis doesn’t still have the red, white and blue kit as claimed, it’s on display at the Zildjian factory in Massachusetts.
    2. Travis doesn’t still have the yellow with black stars kit as claimed, it was given away by Modern Drummer magazine.
    3. The plain black kit he used to play on tour with Boxcar Racer is not a lacquer kit. It’s actually a Matt black Formica wrap OCDP did a load of back in the days they were a custom shop. It is not a lacquer at all.
    4. The plaid kit Travis used during the 2002 pop disaster tour is not on display at a Hard Rock restaurant as claimed or back in his studio. It’s on display mounted on the ceiling upside down at Travis’s Wahoo’s Fish Taco restaurant in Norco, California.
    5. The clear acrylic FSAS kit used during the tour of the untitled album was not sold on Reverb, it was donated to the Hard Rock restaurant in Las Vegas along with a Gibson guitar used by Tom Delonge and a Fender bass used by Mark Hoppus. There was however, a copy of this kit sold on Reverb but this is not the kit used during the 2003 untitled tour, that kit had tube lugs (one donated to Hard Rock) whereas this kit had shark tooth lugs.
    6. It is claimed in the video Orange County Drum and Percussion switched out the tube lugs and replaced them with shark tooth lugs. This is incorrect. They actually switched out their standard Baltimore style luge for shark tooth lugs as the new standard lug on all orders. The reason for this was that the Baltimore lug was redesigned and the new design was not as strong and durable as the old design and they were breaking especially when used on snare’s where people were cranking them up tight to mimic Travis’s snare sound. The tube lugs were always an optional extra/upgrade type lug you had to pay extra for.
    7. The BIGGEST INCORRECT CLAIM MADE IN THIS VIDEO… Travis DID NOT PLAY the signature Travis Barker Guitar Center kit live ever. He did a video interview with Musician’s Friend where he played one during the interview to promote the kit which can be found here… ua-cam.com/video/Fk9XI5MJ81A/v-deo.htmlsi=FFGLh4ScVIMK4P7V HOWEVER, he NEVER played this live. Instead during the 2009 blink-182 tour he was using a similar looking wrap kit but it was a custom and NOT THE GUITAR CENTER signature kit. The BIG giveaways for this are the fact that on the one he played live it had rectangular standard OCDP badges NOT the triangular “TB” marked ones found on the signature kit. Also the official OCDP custom shark tooth lugs are slightly longer and thinner and highly durable compared to the cheap Guitar Center copycat shark tooth lugs found on the signature kit that break easily. The quality of the shells, hardware, edges, snare bed etc would be FAR superior to the Guitar Center version. For example on the Guitar Center snares they had a very cheap unbranded mass produced throwoff whereas Travis’s would have been a “trick” branded throw off which has a different hole pattern made in the shell and is a favourite brand used by many custom drum companies.
    8. Daniel or Jeremy didn’t build the “Edging” kit as claimed, it’s a DW kit that was wrapped specifically to match the circus theme of the edging video. I suspect based on the sizes this was his flat grey DW design series kit he used on the Adele cover video playthrough. Regardless, whatever kit it was was wrapped over the original wrap the kit came with so this can later be removed which is why it was able to be turned around for the video so fast. Daniel has done this in the past on other kits for Travis. ALSO, the kit is NOT an acrylic kit or “custom” as claimed, it’s a DW Design Series kit which are all made from North American Hard Rock Maple. In the video of Travis playing it on the DW Instagram page you can clearly see through the front head and see the wood on the inside of the bass drum. You can also tell it’s a design series kit as the DW badge on a design series is white with just the outline of “DW” written in black with the inner part of the “D” and “W” being the same colour as the badge. Whereas on a modern “Collector’s Series” kit the current badge for that series is silver with the entirety of “DW” written in black. Collector’s series is the series of kit Travis is using on the current tour going on now. Design series kits are not “custom kits” and come in pre-configured/limited sizes and finishes which is why they are cheaper. A lot of artists will still play them though as they can be bought off the shelf and are quicker to get a hold of than a long wait for a custom Collector’s series kit.
    9. It was claimed Travis never used his signature sticks in the black colour. This is also incorrect, he has not used these much however he did use them in the “Dope Boys” video with The Game and also in the video The Game shared where Travis was playing the song through in his old studio with The Game stood in the background.
    10. A load of kits were completely missed out like the black rogue status kit with random guns on the shell used in the dope boys video, the EVH kit, a flat grey OCDP kit he uses in his studio which is similiar to the DW design series one he got at a later date, the grey oyster wrap kit, the green sparkle kit, (there was also a slightly darker green sparkle kit as well) the red acrylic kit both used for DJAM and Yelawolf performances and the cocktail kit, just to name a few.
    11. It is claimed Travis plays DW 5000 series hardware and 9000 series pedals. This is incorrect, he actually uses 9000 series hardware and 5000 series pedals, he has previously said the reason for this is that he tried the 9000 series pedals but didn’t like them as he likes to work the pedal more and in his words “fight it” and doesn’t like how smooth the 9000 was.

OCDP (and 99% of the custom shops from the late 90s and early 2000s) used Keller drum shells for their builds. These companies basically would drill the holes, assemble the hardware, and create the finishes, just like we do with Warmoth guitars (very similar to our partscasters). Probably only the boutique builders (craviotto, noble and cooley, etc.) and DW were building their drum shells back in the day. Long story short, OCDP was basically upcharging prices based on Travis and the cool factor.

thank you for that awesome video!
there's some kits i would want to add:
    - the red acrylic he played with TRV$DJAM - this was the kit he played on the gig in south carolina right before his plane crash and on the blink reunion show in 2009 at the T-Mobile Sidekick LX launch in Hollywood after the TRV$DJAM set
    - the "all over gunprint" rogue status kit (with matching drum throne) - he played that in the "forever (remix)" and "3 am" drum covers. with that, he also used the black sticks (the only time i can recall that he used them)
    - the "van halen" kit in the red white black van halen print - he used that in the super bowl XLII commercial/intro and on the "slaughterhouse - the one" remix
    - the green (yellowish) sparkle kit - from the "can a drummer get some" video
    - the plain green one (smaller sizes, red DJ AM decal on the bass drum head) - he used that quiet often in the late 2000s/early 2010s
    - the cocktail kit - he used it on the 2012/2013 blink tours for the acoustic part of the set (there’s also videos of brooks wackerman using it in australia when he filled in for travis)

    Very informative video!
    Thanks a lot!
I followed Blink as a teenager during the late 90's/early 2000's and it's great to see their gear being addressed on this channel.
Two things I'd like to ask about:
    1) We can see Travis using the Jelly Bean kit in the What's my age again video and Evel Knievel in Adam's Song, but what about the clear acrylic one in All the small things?
Was this one only used/rented for the video shoot, because I can't remember seeing it somewhere else.
    2) When you open the booklet of the Mark, Tom and Travis Show CD, there are plenty of pictures of Travis playing drums. On page 7, you can see him using a set with a dark finish (watched by his drum tech, I assume). On page 11, there is a picture of Tom with a Gibson Les Paul and a dark blue drum set in the background. The drum port holes are cut the way Travis would have them, so it might be the kit from page 7.
Are there any infos on this one? (Again, could be a rental or the stage lights just make the set look dark).
    Thank you! ✌

I address this a few times in the video, Travis had a lot of snares and kits made for him that haven’t been seen often or at all. I would put the ATST acrylic kit in that category, I’ve never seen that specific set apart from the video. As for where it is now, I personally don’t know.
As for the photos in the MTTS book. Apart from the orange glitter kit, Travis played a lot of backline sets when he first joined the band in 1998. So they probably threw in an older photo that has Travis in it to blend in with the rest of the layout.
      Hope this helps! - Q

    • @RaishuSumo
      @RaishuSumo Рік тому

@@DrummingMoose Makes perfect sense with the ATST acrylic set. I totally neglected to think into that direction.
Regarding the Tom/Les Paul picture: You are right. They probably smuggled in a few older pictures. Especially the Gibson guitar indicates that, although I am not sure when exactly Tom started to play Fenders entirely.
The picture with the watching drum tech (Fasano probably?) remains a bit of a mystery.
It can't be older footage for two reasons: Travis spots his dreadlocks in this one + he plays a 12×14 tom on the left side of his kit. Must be from this particular tour then, I assume.
Maybe it was the lighting after all?
Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
      Highly appreciated! 🙏

    • @DrummingMoose
      @DrummingMoose Рік тому +1

@@RaishuSumo The photo of dreadlocked Travis you’re talking about is most likely from 1999 playing Evel Knievel, which had a 12x14 floor tom. Daniel Jensen has always been his drum tech on the road, who would also be in that photo. Mike Fasano only teched for them in the studio.
