Many other commenters have talked about resonators and powers, but another important bit of lore is that conventional weapons just flatout don't work against these enemies. There are weapons made from a material called tacetite that function near-identically to conventional weapons, but prolonged exposure to tacetite is harmful to normal humans. So resonators aren't the go-to warriors because they have super powers, they're the go-to warriors because they are able to safely wield tacetite weapons. The bulk of the nation's military in-universe is comprised of resonators for this reason. Most resonators don't actually have any special abilities beyond just being immune to tacetite exposure (and resistant to various other ailments). The main driving factor behind the military exclusively recruiting resonators has to do with a particular battle in which the non-resonators who had no resistance to essentially a psychological weather event (it's a whole thing, don't ask) basically mass hallucinated and killed each other. In the aftermath, it was declared that all frontline personnel, including medical, logistical and support staff, must be resonators to prevent anything similar from happening in the future. I'm strongly paraphrasing and probably glossing over details, but I find it more interesting of a concept than only the playable characters being special.
I think I missed the resonators having no special abilities part. I thought that being a resonator makes you essentially able to alter frequencies of matter, etc. or something based on one's emotion or upbringing.
@@hijodelsoldeoriente I think they all have _some_ ability, just most aren't very powerful or useful, sort of like espers in the Index universe. Nine out of ten resonators just have like, the power to keep coffee warm, or something equally worthless. Hence why you don't see any of the regular soldiers pulling out anything remotely close to the level of a playable character.
I think you're right when you say the one girl looks a little more serious/tense and the redhead shows more empathy. The serious one (Baizhi) is an important researcher who finds her sense of purpose in her work, and the other (Chixia) while sometimes a funny character also has a much more open personality. Oddly enough none of those three girls are the protagonist but they are the first people you meet when you start the game. Known as "resonators" they have similar powers to the main character though not to the same extent - actually a high number of the characters in the game are resonators and they're basically the only reason the world hasn't already been overrun by monsters before you arrive. I haven't gotten through all of the main quest yet, but I am somewhat interested in the story and world-building.
Stygian Lacrimosa and the Eternal Concert (forgot the name) are great. In my opinion, so many world quests are great. They usually involve a dynamic environment. From the Tiger's Maw quest, to the Port City, to the Banyan Quest.
The three girls are the free 4*s you get at the start of the game. They are essentially the characters who introduce you to the world of WuWa. The guy at the end is a doctor turned general who has been fighting on the frontlines for a long time. Every resonator (people with powers) has a frequency mark somewhere on their body and it can be anywhere. There is one character who has their mark in their eye. When they use their power that mark glows. A major theme for the game is sound/vibrations.
As you have pointed out the heroes have very similar marks to the enemies and it is heavily implied in the story that its not just a coincidence. Also the resonators (our heroes) are usually somehow slightly mutated, like having part of body feathers or reptilian skin etc. Because the game has just came out, there is not everything explained yet and there are a lot of potential spoilers people cant generally know yet.
The game's theme is Sound, with the characters being Resonators, people who can manipulate sounds in different ways, for example Yangyang(the blue girl) can manipulate wind. Its a open world game that came out 2 weeks ago and i can really recommend it, it had a rocky launch but the devs really are listening to community feedback and even gave us alot of stuff as apology, including a free 5 star. I strongly suggest u give it a go if u have time, no rush.
The cinematic is actually showing the past vs the present. The soldiers are in the past before they knew how to fight the enemy, the girls are in the present and developed the techniques and weapons for fighting the enemy. The guy throwing the sword hitting the enemy in the head was a successful hit with a new type of weapon (sword made of a special material) then it transitions to the present with the same enemy.
It's just the Punishing Virus evolving to dravel to different worlds, seems like Babylonia has fallen if that happened, Lucia ascended to a higher being and sent the commandant back to the past to save the world 😭
Nice! I finished one of the characters misions and in the last couple of cinematics I was like PHILIP SHOULD REACT TO THIS. It was the Jiyan story quest but let me check if there is any video in YT. If not I would try to upload my gameplay

Idk I have a 10yo PC that runs WuWa on max setttings without a problem. Didn't crash once and I've been playing an unhealthy amount of hours, worst I have seen is ping going up to red once in a while
Well, sorry for how long this will be, but here I go: Wuthering Waves is basically a game set in a dystopian future on a planet affected by something known in Spanish as El Lamento. I don't know what it's called in English, but what it did was distort reality. While all matter is still made up of atoms like in our reality, everything there ends up enveloped in a sort of ecosystem based on "resonances." That "flashback" of the girl was theoretically 100 years ago, which is when these distortions and monsters began to appear. That's why the military's weapons didn't do much damage: little to nothing was known about it. Decades later, it was discovered that there were humans who "awoke" at crucial moments with marks similar to the one the girl has on her forehead, and this allowed them to manipulate the frequencies of certain elements, in her case: wind (So yes, you're right: Humasn in this world are using the enemy power against them!). Now, she has "feathers" in her hair because she suffered an "overclock," which is basically a berserker mode, if we want to call it that, where the user can't control their power, and if that person isn't helped in time, they can die or possibly (and this is my theory) turn into a monster. Some have remnants like her; others even end up regaining their sight (another character who used to be blind and no longer is), which can directly or indirectly affect their appearance. However, the environment someone is in after "awakening" can also change their appearance directly without anything dangerous like an "overclock," as in the case of the red-haired girl, who, when she had her awakening, was in a very hot area, so her awakening developed directly with fire and even changed the color of her hair, which is why it's red. @@darmansbar7900 Btw, I started reading documents found in the game through exploration, world missions, and so on, and no, Solaris is not planet Earth. Unless, of course, you consider Solaris to be an alternate "Earth" where dragons actually existed. In the character Mortefi's story, he developed scales similar to those of a species of fire-breathing dragon that is extinct on the planet. So, sorry, but it’s not Earth. It's obviously based on our planet and, at most, could be considered an alternate Earth, but not "our" Earth.
It made sense now that Chixia when outro skillin the game ,she leaves an area hot enough to burn enemies and its like what is that for ,turns out it reminiscent her awakening mode 😲
I should have also mentioned the girl in blue, Yangyang. She's a member "Midnight Rangers" who are the frontline defense against the monsters (called tacet discords), so when you're saying her expression looks ready to fight that's very true about her. I'm impressed at your ability to make accurate assumptions about characters you haven't really seen before. Then the green dude is the general of the Midnight Rangers and evidently their strongest fighter. From the voice acting for Yangyang I saw her as a sweet and caring person and wouldn't have guessed at first that she is a career soldier, but that's also very cool that she has more than one side to her.

So the little girl in the flashback isn't the girl we see fighting. It's heavily implied that the little girl was one of the victims of the disaster.
